I thought a saw a picture about this a couple of months ago, but I didn't hear much about it. Which map/mission can you swim underwater?

It's a random cimeroran map. A dead end room with a cross-shaped walkway, and four 'pockets' of water. The two closest to the entrance you can't quite swim in, but the far two, you can swim under the walkway that 'divides' them.

Back when this was first discovered in I-12, apparently pool parties became quite popular in Cimerora.

Easiest way to get to it is to chose the map in a MA test arc.

Fixed that for you. The coralax apparently draws from a limited list of emotes that sort of make sense. I've seen it doing several different ones.

Oh, run around and look for it? I don't know the coordinates and forget which side of the city it's on. It's JUST outside the wall - maybe 20, 25 feet from it. The pool isn't really big enough to swim in. It's just big enough to notice that you can submerge rather than swim at the surface. Some of the maps in Cimerora (which is co-op) also have it.

Swimming sections in video games are by their very nature awful, if only because it differs too much from the normal gameplay and lacks the polish of the rest of a game.

Let's not add underwater gameplay to CoX.

I thought the original Ecco :: The Dolphin had cool swimming in it, but I guess that was all swimming.

Some how I think if Gary Anderson can pull off underwater SuperMarionation in Stingray ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E06cNv55jTs ) then I think it can be done well in a video game if someone even takes a little bit of time and effort.
I agree it may not be worth the returns to do in in CoH, especially if my underwater Controller can't summon his fishy friends.

Guess I'll have to stick with my aquatic tanker, scrapper Lake Creatures, and scrapper or peacebringer Deep Ones.
*sigh*
Of course, none of them will apparently get to do too much swimming underwater in CoH.

And I guess the Deep Ones will have to be content with working to summon Lusca - not so fishy, but definitely aquatic!

I wouldnt mind having Mako's PPP on hero-side though and a few more placed to swim under water.

Seriously! I mean, if 2/3 of the Earth's surface is covered by water, and humans aren't, for the most part, in it, Aquaman may very well be THE most important superhero EVAH.

I always called Aquaman when playing Justice League on the playground. Hard to imitate his antics while not submerged but still, he was da JL bomba.

The Ecco games also have some of the best ambient music I've ever heard.

Man, I never saw this before (20 years before my time!). I was expecting a Super Mario game in that link, heh.

Somehow, given BaB's remarks and what I've heard about the difficulty of making water-based powers, it seems to me that swimming/water-based powersets and locales would be best served with a full-on expansion dedicated to that.

... which would take years and ultimately look stupid.

But hey, the shader-enabled water looks cool, so anything's possible!
