Pandas vs. Rikti

In a parallel universe, Earth is populated by sentient pandas. They've been invaded by Rikti, and they are losing. Using an ancient device to interface with our Architect system... they are asking for your help.

I always had a soft spot in my heart for pandas. This arc fits perfectly in with that. Your allies in this story, the Pandaras, will make you laugh with their ways of speaking - which boil down to various emoticons, due to translation issues. The first time you walk into the arc and see these pandas attack Rikti while yelling, ">:O" you'll be instantly hooked into where the story goes - which is very solid. And surprising, considering the expectations one might have from a story named "Pandas vs. Rikti". But this arc delivers on all fronts. The story is enjoyable and fun to get into, the Pandaras likable, and the gameplay solid. Even I, Dr. Aeon, was very much attached to the story's contact at the end and was quite happy to be able to fight side by side with him in the story's conclusion. Ack, I almost gave away part of the story! :O

Erk! Now I'm speaking like those Pandaras... this may be a problem.

At any rate, this is a terrific arc which I'm proud to give the Developer's Choice to. Congratulations Shadow-Rush!

Agh...not again...!

Awesome, grats! I remember playing this arc -- it induced much giggling in SG-chat, along with an inexplicable burst of emoticons. And... it was fun! ~.^

Well deserved, imo.

I'm not an AE person, but I do remember playing this arc when it came out and loving it. A real gem.

Sweet. I'm all for comedy arcs that also tell a good story and have interesting characters.

So, when do we get the inevitable followup of Pandas vs. Rikti vs. Zombies vs. Aliens vs. Predator?

Gratz of course!, but I am saddened to see that so much of the set-up mirrors an arc I had in the planning stages - and I promise you I hadn't heard of this arc till just now. Can there really be room for another "sentient pandas from another dimension" arc?

Then again, if Doc likes pandas, that might be my ticket to a dev choice! Maybe I should send ShadowRush a PM and see if he'd mind a spin-off...

O_O

Thank you so much!

I... I was really surprised when I first received the news that Pandas vs. Rikti was going to be a Dev's Choice. I've spent countless hours designing, editing, adjusting, balancing, and playtesting. I wouldn't have done it without all the feedback from people (both in-game or in its arc thread in this forum) during its testing phase. So thank you to everyone that did.

Dr. Aeon: Thank you! I'm really glad you liked it! *Just a little correction on the thread title though, my global is actually @Shadow-Rush ^_^;

This arc so richly deserves to be Dev Choice! I remember when playing it I didn't have very high expectations but the plot was great, the costumes were spot on, and the dialog was fantastic.

I recall playing this arc early on when AE was just getting started. I enjoyed the storyline as well as the customized characters. Congratulations to the author for this recognition of the work they put into this piece.

Congratulations! Even though I personally preferred your arc "The Missing" over this one, it was still great fun as well.
