Is this server filled with unrepentant min-maxers?

Serious question. Among the denizens of "JFA2010" and its predecessors who make up the majority of people I play with, I never see any of the powersets that people seem to talk about a lot on these boards.

For example, Energy Blasters. I can't remember the last time I've seen one. Now Archers, Ice men and Fire gals, I see them all the time. Likewise, the horror stories people tell about PUGs just seem to be totally absent on this server.

On information and belief, I think several of the devs play here.

Is Justice heaven?

The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.

I play an Energy Blaster and a Kin/Energy Defender. Or did. I got rather sick of the KB. I really wish I could find a way to minimize it.

But you're right. Justice is heaven. I wouldn't play anywhere else.

I'm tempted to bring out my sonic/sonic defender just to prove The Geckster wrong. But anybody that knows me already knows how wide and deep my min/maxing streak is.

I have a Sonic/Sonic Corruptor. There's nothing like having Scourge on powers that do -resist.

It may be. However from what I have seen over the last 5 years many people know their stuff and play like they know it. That of course means picking power sets that can be bent better then others.

However I am sure we all have a character or 2 that well, we don't play much anymore but we used to play daily when we first started. I know I have a few or 10, lol

Overall, plenty of vets on the server. I am not afraid to say it, I Power Game and build new characters with performance in mind. Theme characters are fun and all but I just bend the theme to fit performance

I think its all a mentality of efficiency while having fun.

I don't think of myself as a min/maxer, though others might. I think of myself as a "just-enougher." I need to have just enough to run with the big dogs and compete, hold my own, or at least not slow them down.

While I do like having nice sets and some of the "premier" unique IOs, not all my characters have them. Hell, I have a couple of level 50s that still have mainly SOs in them. And you can see from my list that many of my characters are not FOTMs. I love my grav/FF, lots of fun and unique tactics but damn he was slow to level.

None of my characters are min/maxed. I build for concept not "I need to wipe out as many enemies as fast as possible"

Same here. I think any set can be made potent in capable hands.

Personally, I've always enjoyed the challenge of making a toon that does things in a manner that it's not really supposed to. Of course, this DOES involve some min/maxing, but the results tend to be a bit different then you're used to. I think my favorites are Mister Frog (Ice/Dev, plays a bit like a Dom), and Microcondutor (elec/dark stalker built to farm).

Of course, the biggest problem with my interest is, once I've achieved the desired effect, I find myself looking for a new project

My energy/dev blaster is my main badge character. Though I also tend not to group much with her since I hit 50 on her years ago. Just when I run her through the very occasional TF.

I'm honestly of the opinion that it's the most 'fun' of all the blaster primaries. Not the best, but it's certainly fun (and suprisingly safe to play too).

I use a mids designer for all my alts, even before I make one.

Now I might make changes, due to comming back and rethinking my builds and concepts, but I also design from what the devs have made within the game (ex: 6 slotted boxing and took out bonesmasher on my em/will brute) due to the facts that energy transfer and total focus are slow animations and I want my fury at it's peek.

I set a goal to what I want my ultimate alt to be, but I settle for knowing it might be years before that build ever gets IO'ed out or whatever.

Being evil requires power, and DV demands great amounts of it.

And as Justice being heaven, well...

Seeing lack of activity on Freedom that I remember seeing, and being able to get on things I want, I've graced Justice abit more cause of it, cause I know it has the best channels on any server that aide in whatever you desire, and it has the best drama as well, and DV loves his drama.

This is me in a nutshell. I've got a few characters from my early days that I actually went back and gave nice IO builds to, but don't play often because I simply have better characters for what I do.

My first character was an Empathy Defender, so I didn't really see a point. I suppose I could have tried to be the person with the biggest healz, yo, but if I'm with a team of capable players, they won't really care about that.

I just tried to be good at what I did and the numbers really were the least important aspect of being a Defender. The only number that mattered to me was the number of players still alive on my team.

Oh my gosh, this is my favorite new phrase. I am going to sneak into my office late at night and hang it on the walls of several people there. "I'm a just-enougher." Awesome in a video game, less awesome in a co-worker.

Likewise. I also like to build around a pun-tastic name.

Having played with you, I think that concept just so happens to intersect with "good" quite a bit, no?

I can't say I'm a Min/Maxer but I try not to suck either, so I guess I consider myself in the middle of the road. I'll pick power sets to try them our, even if they aren't considered the most optimal.

I have an Energy/Elec blaster (yes I know it's an odd combo, it's one of the first characters I made) that is only at 38 after 5+ years of playing. The knockback can be bothersome but I don't mind it when I'm solo. In groups I try to position myself so the knockback sends stuff into walls to minize the distance they travel.

I haven't seen any min-maxers since I've been on Justice.

This. Mermoine is an emp/energy defender. I have a love/hate relationship with that toon, but she will always be my absolute favorite. My first toon/first 50/badger. But then you add in the KB from energy and its like GRRRR.

P.S. Justice is the best. I could post about how much more awesome we are over the rest, but I don't want to have to get in a screenshot war again

I was under the impression that soft-capped positional defense and +200% global recharge was the norm. I could be mistaken though...

I know a few like that, though not necessarily on the team I manage. I just remind them the "just-enoughers" are usually the first to go if and when layoffs hit.

Powergaming with SOs will get you banned from Justice.

And stop stealing my stuff in WW.
