Same here. I think any set can be made potent in capable hands.

I've got 10 lvl 50's on Justice, 2 of which could be considered min/maxed. The others are all "goodenoughers".

Justice is pretty diverse and very accepting of off-brand powersets and unusual playstyles.
I don't have any completely and totally min/maxed toons, but I have a main with two builds that together cost well over 500 million. That's not TOO extravagant, but he can hang in there on just about any team. My other 50s are IOsetted out and have tons of bonuses, but I wouldn't call them min/maxed.
Justice is the best.
Never argue with stupid people. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Someone define "min/max" for me will ya?
Still no clue what that means....
Anyways i have about 16 level 50's on Justice and all of em except one is slotted with SO's. TA is still HO'ed out. Still don't have the heart to get rid of those well earned Hami's...
I have tons of extra cash because of this though. Just gave PositronBot about 400 million a while back and still wealthy lol.
Although if there were one toon i'd like to see ubar, it would be my main Thor's Assassin. Wouldn't know where to begin though....
*edited*
I know at least 3 devs that call Justice home. Also Justice is where it's at. I've tried the other servers here and there and there is just no comparison in my book! Justice is indeed heaven

I did forget to mention that Justice is heaven.
I have tried to play on Virtue, but trying to put together a decent TF was more than a chore.
Also, I blame Cho and Con.

When a lot of people here say they are "just-enoughers" that's really in the true spirit of min-maxing. I think many confuse min-maxing with powergaming, which is getting as much of the POWER!! as you can, whatever the cost.
EXAMPLE: A powergamer might spend 500 million inf or more for 2% extra defense if it will get him or her to the soft-cap. A min-maxer might make a cost benefit analysis and be happy if they can get to 40% defense for the a much lesser price.
The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.
All it really means is getting the MAXimum out of your character, for the MINinmum amount of "resources". Resources in this context meaning slots, enhancers, etc.

So in summary, yes... the server is probably full of min/maxers... but a bunch of them will probably be surprised that you would call them such.

But I showed them, and nobody's laughing at me now!

Not sure that I'm a min/maxer, but I do try to make sure my toons contribute to a team. My Tanks are definitely built to solo and be alpha Tanks, so they might come close to "min/maxing"... I think over all I'm a casual power gamer with an obsessive tanking disorder.
Tanker Tuesdays: Meet in King's Row by IP Gate 6pm PT9pm ET.
1st Tuesday on Champion, 2nd Tuesday on Justice
3rd Tuesdays (Odd months) Freedom, (Even months) Virtue, 4th Tuesday, Tour, Server TBA
Brutal Thrashing Thursdays: Justice (ask Papa Slade when),meet in RWZ 6pm PT9pm ET.
My min-max strategy involves me maximizing the number of great players on the team so I can minimize my effort.
I don't know what geko is talking about.
I don't mull over and recreate characters for weeks on end before I make a new 50 in a week.
...right?

Aaaaah thank you!
Didn't think to wiki the term lol. Also that expands it a bit too Geko.
Serious question. Among the denizens of "JFA2010" and its predecessors who make up the majority of people I play with, I never see any of the powersets that people seem to talk about a lot on these boards.
For example, Energy Blasters. I can't remember the last time I've seen one. Now Archers, Ice men and Fire gals, I see them all the time. Likewise, the horror stories people tell about PUGs just seem to be totally absent on this server. On information and belief, I think several of the devs play here. Is Justice heaven? |
I play on Justice, and I have an Energy/Devices Blaster. Of course, that character (like all of mine) is mostly for soloing. I've been in several horrible pickup groups though, which is mainly why I prefer to solo. That, and Build Nazis. Frankly, I don't *care* that someone's Mastermind has Provoke and Leadership and Hasten and the freaking Arc of the Covenant. *I* hate Hasten, think the Presence pool is a waste of space and since I rarely team, I don't care that eight-stacked Leadership is "pure awesome." And I like the personal attacks, even if they're not Blasts of Ultimate Power. So there. :P
