Tier 3: Shield Charge
Tier 4: Shield Charge
Tier 5: Shield Charge
Tier 6: Shield Charge
Tier 7: Shield Charge
Tier 8: Shield Charge

Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.

I like that idea. But I am cautious about potential Captain America clones.

Seems a bit repetive mainly due to the fact it brings nothing new to the table. If you peer close it looks a lot like SS or MA due mainly to the fact that it is comprised of disorients smashing and lethal damage. Now sonic or psy melee is something i wouldn't mind using on mah scrappaw'

If you made a Shield/Mace Tanker or Mace/Shield Brute, you'd have most of these attacks, in essence. I think most of the reason they didn't do one already is it ends up being too similar to things we already have.

Right in my signature.

My problem with a Shield Offense power set is that it would essentially demand Shield Defense. I mean, otherwise you'd be running around with a big, heavy slab of metal which is entirely designed to protect you, but you wouldn't be protecting yourself with it!

Zany!

Since defenders have AR now we need a rifle base buff set ^_^.

I want to shoot my comrades to unmez them.

It's a fair point.

Wait, wait...Somebody acctually suggesting "Shield Offense"?

I'm not sure whether I should laugh, cry, or hide in a fallout shelter...

Kudos for taking time to make a suggestion as opposed to bashing someone for doing so.

The two main problems I have with Shield Offense are:
1) The powers it would be given match so closely what already exist in other sets.
2) You would NEED to have a shield for it to work. :-/ So either the only people with Shield Offense have Shield Defense as well, or they have a shield sitting on their arm doing NOTHING to protect them... they just like to hit stuff with a large chunk of metal meant for protection that isn't used for protection.

I think if you want that feel, get Super Strength, Energy Melee, Martial Arts, or Dark melee. You get to punch the enemy, sometimes with your shield hand. That's shield melee, right? :-/ Especially since SS and MA now have alternate animations.

This is the beef I'd put out there. Shield are a defensive object, using them for offense can me done, but if you have a shield and do not use it in any way to defend yourself, something's gone wrong.

There is a way around this, however, by putting in a defensive power, ala parry for broadsword. I've been surprised that the council ascendant 'blocking behind shield' is not to be found in the shield defensive set. Would it make sense to have a 'block' option in a offensive set, that gives excellent resistance/defense but momentarily stops attacking?

Edit: So glad this suggestion does not include a 'throw shield' power.

Fair's fair, then; I want a Katana Defense set.

I want Invulnerability Offense. Where you use your sheer toughness to beat the opponent.

I'd like invulnerability that actually makes you invulnerable, but I can accept that it's not practical within the framework of a risk/reward-based game.

They made it, but for some reason they called it "Willpower" instead.

Years ago, there was a joke character in Champions (the pen and paper version) - the Flying Brick, named for a very common character type (mostly because of the big guy in blue and his once-even-more-popular rival, the big red cheese). It was exactly what it said on the tin: a seemingly ordinary red brick, endowed with intelligence, nigh-invulnerability, and the power of flight. It defeated villains by flying into them at Very High Speed.

Or you could give Shield Melee +def/res as its secondary effect.

Isn't that how his powers work?

So... You defend yourself by punching people in the face? Hmm... Why didn't I think of that?

I want Spiral Power Melee. You wipe out the enemies by the sheer awesomeness of you showing up to fight them. It might get kind of boring to play, but your team-mates would forever respect and admire you.
