Lol, we've got loads of instanced content, and our starter zones are STILL fairly visibly busy.

Atlas is a bit different, though, as it's the place where everyone hangs out, even before AE. Mercy is a more typical starter zone.

Well Mercy's never empty. And if the high-levels are hanging out in the starter zones, then any actual new players are going to see a game that has an apparently high population, not to mention snazzy animations and - gasp - FLYING - etc . I think an MMO design team should be wanting their high-level players still showing themselves in the starter zones. When i was a new player, I remember seeing someone with a singularity out, and thinking 'what's that? I want one of those!'.

Come to think of it, I still haven't got a toon high enough to get one lol.

As truly awesome as that sounds, would Nemesis ever do anything random?

He would if it served to further along one of his billions of plots...

After reading The web of arachnos I've always wanted to see a small schale onslaught by him, having Warhulks appear on a random street and start smashing things. Have a signature hero battling it and asking for assistance.

You could get the Posi's sidekick badge or something.

On topic;

Yeah, COH has me so spoiled I can't even begin to get into another MMO. COH was my 1st MMO and I'm soooooooooo thankful I bought it way back in 2005 instead of Ultima!

I wasn't considering stopping or even reducing my CoH time, 5 yrs on i still love it, but seeing what a disaster WAR is in conparison to what i want from an MMO, i fear i'll not find anything as good.

CoH is just fantastic, isn't it?

So unlike other players you are and will be loyal to this game. Right?

Yes. His reputation is to be a master planner, so doing something random is the perfect distraction. Why did the Nemesis army hijack a truck full of dark chocolate, steal an amulet of smell changing from MAGI, and blow up a hot dog stand? There must be some greater plan behind this! Actually, no. He's simply doing it so his real plan of replacing a middle manager in a tech company with an automaton would go unnoticed.

Well, I suppose he could also be making scented chocolates while eliminating his hot dog based competition. At least that's something he'd want the heroes to look into.

Yes, I agree. I am temporarily not playing (as you may know) because the computer I play the game on crashed. I hope to get it fixed soon so I can get back in on the action! As for other MMO's, sorry, but I'm not leaving unless there comes a time that Paragon City comes crashing down and there is nothing left! Then I will have to move on...

Me too. This is actually the main reason why I don't play other MMO's anymore.
I hate the fact that you have to be VERY strict about playing only together with your guildmates, so everybody stays on the same level. A difference of even a couple of levels can make things difficult, and five or so levels make things impossible.

Damn straight (though i think there are loads of people as loyal as me here)! The WAR forumgoers were saying 'If you like PvE then I suggest you try Champions Online'. They couldn't seem to understand that I don't need any replacement for CoH. I'll be here till I'm forcibly DCed when the game ends, or i die, whichever comes first.

I actually remember a documentary about cold war era spies, and what one of them explained he did to throw the KGB for a loop. Occasionally, he'd write some gibberish on a piece of paper, stick it in an envelope then walk into a random business and hand it to some random person with a wink and a nudge. This would then cause the KGB to panic, because they had no idea who this man was or how he was connected to a suspected American spy. Which is natural, because he wasn't. He was just some random, unfortunate individual who would they likely be pulled off the street and interrogated.

No, I don't like it, either.

In our world, though, especially with half the people having an "It's a Nemesis plot!" macro, actually doing something completely random and pointless IS a good idea for the Nemesis. As Crimson said about the Malta group - you do something, anything to them, and they'll construct all your conspiracy theories for you all by themselves. Someone once said that the best way to ensure people see a pattern in something is to hand them something that HAS no pattern. Then almost everyone is guaranteed to see a pattern in there somewhere.

Hi,

CoX isn't the only game with a sidekick system ( not all games do it both ways tho ).
You can do it in EQ2, you can do it in CO ( obviously ), you can do it in WAR ways a previous poster, in Vanguard you have the fellowship system ( not sure if it is working ).
I only named the games I played or play but I am sure there are others.

As far as I am concerned, CoX environnement is just too old for me ( I started playing after launch / before issue 1 and then moved to the EU servers in 2004 or so ).

The character creation is still top notch in my book but the rest feels too old graphic wise ( and yes, graphics are an important part of "my" games. I don't upgrade my PC to play 1999 graphics MMORPG even if the gameplay is from the 23th Century , I only play MMORPG btw ).

I'll stick with CoH until something better comes along. So far nothing really has stuck with me. WAR I didn't really enjoy. WoW I enjoyed even less. In fact I'm starting to think I don't really like MMOs at all really, and CoH just bucks that trend (a lot of which is to do with how individual you feel coupled with the fact you aren't limited to pinging away at one or two enemies at most or you die horribly).

Biowares forthcoming offerings are the only things likely to steal me away that I can see on the horizon.

I still love CoH. It's fun whether you're level 1 or 50. I actually just cancelled my Aion account because it was too much like that "World" game for my tastes. There was also the stupid restrict flight for players when the game is based on flight.

One of my friends saw me playing CoH and asked "so does your superspeed ever run out?". Ha.

LMAO

I'm very glad our Sprint isn't a click power that only lasts ten seconds and locks out all our other powers while it's active. And which then takes 30 seconds to recharge. That would, uh, make me dismayed. Hypothetically of course.
