Um, what?

Terp PvPed extensively durring i4 and i4 beta, he was an officer in the original Hell Raisers (only SG to beat Tribute). He played alot through the pre-IO issues too - I'm pretty sure he was on quite a few reputable teams - many of which were on top of the ladder, or won the TPvPL. To name a few: Pennance, VORI, Team Haterade, Team Tanzie, the original 10mop, ext.

don't leave out hush's bloodline.

We've all been in "bad" SG's at some point. Generally the reasoning for joining them is different - some like the idea of helping out less experienced players - others were just bad and couldn't get into any good SGs. Terp probably could have joined any SG on the ladder.

But none of that really matters. While you may think Terp has the wrong idea, it's pretty clear to me that he has that idea with the right reasons in mind. That said, agree with him or not, he doesn't need to be trolled.

It's not as if the Devs will actually listen to any of your ideas anyway.

Another PvP supergroup beat us? I was always under the impression that we left the game undefeated. I don't have any emotional attachment to this game anymore, so I'm just genuinely curious: do you recall any specifics from that match, Silit?

I wasn't in the match, as I wasn't on a roster back then - from what I'm told it was a 6v6 practice match, when Lab was still in HR. I understand that, as with most Tribute vs HR matches, it was a close match.

lol, actually I knew your quote reminded me of something; now I remember what:

"How about we fire up the old Segway and find a nice quiet field to do long division in? I mean, a nice quiet field in which to do long division. Sorry, sorry, everybody." - Neil Goldman, Family Guy.

Tee hee.

What I may or may not have done at any point in the past doesn't really have any bearing on the discussion at hand. I certainly don't care about anyone's resume, and don't think you need to submit one in order to post an idea in this forum. If you don't like my ideas, that's fine. Few ideas are unanimously well received, especially when you're talking about power changes, so the reaction to my comments in this thread are not unexpected.

Quote:
If you're so insistent on a nerf to Hibernate, why not just increase its activation time? Making it interruptible is a bit much...
Increasing the activation time would just mean that you need to click it sooner than you currently do, but it would still be used in the same way. I prefer the interruptible idea because it makes it more difficult (skillful) to use in battle. In conjunction with making it interruptible, they could also reduce the recharge time so it comes back faster.

Anyway, I'm not insistent about a change. In fact, I really couldn't care less if Hibernate is ever changed. I'll leave that fight to folks who care more than I do, but I would welcome a change if one is ever made. I agree with others in this thread about other problems existing in the world of pvp, but my comments have basically been limited to discussion of Hibernate since that's the topic of the thread.

That being said, I don't think we need to worry about devs monitoring the pvp forums and making power changes based on suggestions found in here.

Once upon a time there was a tanker that thought he was the greatest because of hibernate. He would challenge good melle's to duels then hibernate half the match and talk shite. This is when the term hibernoob came into existence. Terp may have coined the term.

Hoarfrost is good but hibernate makes the Cold Mastery pool the shiznite for blasters.

All elite doms take mako (although I have seen some bubs lately)

It is possibly the single most powerful power in the game. Which in my opinion is why they gave it to so many archtypes.

Hibernate is a reset button that is up often.

I will say that I have seen many duels that were decided by who used hiber better, so I guess there is some skill in knowing the right time to hiber.

I'm not really sure why everyone is ragging on terp when he is just giving his opinion. He is not a nerf herder.

I think they should take fireball out of the pyre mastery and replace it with Heat Exhaust.

Please double space your response.

Honestly, hibernate is garbage, only two good reasons to take it really 1. Being the ability to restore HP without incurring heal decay 2. Fact that its the only "Escape" power a toon can get, and it really isn't all that great for escape, and still be able to get perception.

Why do they do this now? So they can have a perception AND a phase, not becuase hibernate is "Elite"

Its also the only power that, for the most part, is a death sentence in zones, and in arena 1v1s, the other guy uses [Rest] and it all happens again. Do I see much OP-ness here? Not really

Reseting the situation where PvPer 1 made PvPer 2 Hibernate repeats itself as soon as Hibernate drops, Thus, this time they don't have hibernate.

Puff Puff Pass. Yes there is a knack for knowing when to Hiber, but thats the same skill that is used when "Knowing when to phase" aswell.

As for duels decided by who hibered better?

I have yet to see them.

I never really meant to rag on him, I'm just a lil annoyed at the fact that people are tryin to "nerf" hiber when stalkers are doing more ranged damage then some of the blaster primaries.

Not true at all. Two of the better doms in game still use scorpion. And a few others who only play spordically at best do as well. I would call all those players elite.

Handy power to have yes. Most powerful power in the game is a huge leap though. Stuff that I would rank far ahead of hibernate include placate proc, confuse having its own supression timer, ranged damage from melee toons, the continued busted nature of fear after all this time. There are more those are just ones I can think of right away. While I know it can be frustrating not getting a kill you think you earned, someone had to pick a specfic pool, sacrfice power choices and not be brain dead enough to turn the power on then be able to escape after standing still for 30ish seconds in front of someone. If you put someone in hiber and can not figure out how to kill them before no phase wears off you not only don't deserve the kill, you probably were not going to get it anyway.

Not sure how foten you read/post around these parts but he does kinda nerf herd. I do respect everyone's right to have an opinion to offer up suggestions. But honestly I stand by my terp's seem to have a fite klubbers mentality. He wants to balance more on the 1 v 1 scenario which imo is the reason we have this trash pvp we have atm. He has also made asinine comments about how the stalker at ruins the game and should be comepletely revisted to ever get to any point of balance in pvp. He can claim he didn't say it that way or didn't say it at all, but I will always stand by my memory when it comes to such things.

Throwing a sarcastic line on the end does one of two things, it either makes you look like a troll or clueless. Seeing I know you aren't clueless I will just leave it be.

Srs? That's never gonna happen bud, u might as well roll a /therm corruptor and use the attack chain brawl -> boxing -> kick and then throw flurry in every now and then.

Hibernate is garbage... I wonder how many toons you have that take it?

I don't agree they are different powers with different effects. In hiber you cant move attacked or be attacked, and get regen and recovery...Good luck using phase when your recovery is -100.

I admit I may be putting to much emphasis on the time to hiber and not enough emphasis on skill-build-or x beats y.

Terp is my friend and I don't think his statements warrant the backlash he was given. All of us can be outspoken about things we care about and the forums (in my opinion) is a venue to share that voice.

I played a ice/energy in the swiss tourney that used the ray to great effect. I'm not sure if we know the same dom's however I played a good fire/fire that made the change from scorp to hiber. Also the girl who everyone says is horrible, that I have seen beat a very active elec/therm did so because of hiber. Mr. Mentality had hiber and in my opinion he was one of the best.

Why do you think the placate proc is better than hiber? It takes a couple tabs to reacquire target. Confuse is a PITA, however its not a reset button. ETC. Sharks don't scare my melee toons and my squishies prob have phase or hiber. At capped stealth in a zone or big team environment hibernating is sometimes not a death sentence. I don't understand this about not being able to kill after hiber you don't deserve the kill. If you are both at capped speed and you don't get the jump on hiber, all hiber person has to do is not suppress and can wait until hiber comes back, and the afore mentioned stealth makes it even easier. Then think about heals, teammates, and other variables and the person with hiber is not dead and the person without hiber (or phase) would be.

Mr Mentality was good. As far as seing an elec therm losing to a dom it was either a fluke or a badly built/played elec therm. I can honsetly count the number of good dom players left on one hand. Its almost as hard as finding a really good stalker.

Quote:

Wow, just wow. Give me the time it takes you to reacquire me on a blaster. Oh and just so you know about the op part. Its broke and fires right at 100% of the time. Honestly and truly this is the most broken op piece of crap in the whole game right now.

Quote:
Confuse is a PITA, however its not a reset button.

To a good player with other mitigation and confuse lasting longer and having a separate timer from other mezzes it lowers your ned for a 'reset' button.

Quote:

Rofl @ thinking I was talking about stlakers. The day I sweat a stalker I will uninstall. Go look at fossilize to get what I am talking about. An at with 3000+ hp should not be able to throw one of the most damaging ranged attacks in the game, period.

Oh so we are talking about zone pvp only with you. Well get a team around some time when I am in zone. I promise if you get away its because you either phased immediately after. Are an ice tank and ran for the drones and got lucky enough to make it. Got tped back to base by a friend or base bot. There is also a small chance you hibered right by the base, not much can be done about that. Otherwise you will die, I promise. And lol @ the stealth cap, who even pvps any more without +perception. The only at that is helping and stalkers and they are pretty easy to escape with without having hiber.

I probably pvp enough to take the variables into account. I am sorry you either play against lower quality or smaller numbers than the rest of us. Also good luck not getting suppressed out of hiber. While it does happen from time to time, maybe more so for some of us, its the exception not the rule.

Quote:

I fail in anyway to see how this will make the game better. Maybe better for his playstyle or preference. I will tell you the one thing I have learned about pvp in this game. Learn to enjoy what they give you because they wil never make changes that you will think are for the better. If you think hiber is bad you may as well join the fite club circle jerks and rofl when the smarter player uses the powers he has available to him to survive. Hiber has, and read this carefully, MANY counters. It is fine as is and needs no change. I love the idea of making an oh **** power interupttable because you total want to have that when you need to use it and are getting spikes. It won't make it require more skill, it will make it require more luck. They have added enough of that nonsensical crap to pvp already.

And more than likely he will stil have a substandard build and skills. I have never once seen a key hibernate swing a match, ever. And I do mean ever. If you think this power makes this big a difference you are way underestimating all the other powers in the game.

Quote:

If you can't figure out how to live in phase while heat exhausted you deserve to die. They sell blues for 50 inf and the +rec accos work as well. On top of that if you shut your other toggles off you will be fine anyways.

Quote:

I wouldn't call it a backlash. I do however promise that the pvpers that are left will be a lot more vocal than in the past to defend what little they do have left. And yes this is the venue for sharing ideas. However it is not the venue for having to agree with an idea you think is horseshit. He can have his point of view, all fine and dandy, just don't ever expect me to agree with it. As far as the outspoken part, that's my specialty.
