Hey, how's it going everyone? I'm back for the freekend. Have I missed any big changes? I've been looking through the patch notes on occasion, but I just haven't found anything to complain about.

In case anyone cares, I've been doing pretty well in college. I've been incredibly enthusiastic in my classes, in contrast to everyone else who seems rather meh about the whole experience. I'm very concerned and wonder if that's just from high school burnout. My grades are very nice - except history. Nothing like getting blind-sided by a major exam and you weren't prepared. Ah well, still scraped a passing grade.

Anyway, I really doubt I'd have been able to survive the first couple weeks without y'all's support... I know that sounds sappy, but *shrug* It's the truth. The advice has been incredible, btw. Especially the emphasis on 'talking' and 'getting to know professors', since I seem to be very familiar to all of them, which makes the class experience much more enjoyable.

I'm on Virtue at the moment, levelling an earth/earth dom. Man is Stone Spears cool!

Doom.

Yep.

This is really doom.

There's too much happiness in that post of yours. I hope you come back with something more cynical later otherwise we will have to tie you down and change your forum name to Not-so-Angry Citizen.

Welcome back, A_C! Glad to hear you're doing well with your classes - you seem to have (almost) everything under control, and as long as you can stick with that, you should do just fine.

For more info on what they did with I-16, I'll just refer you to my I-16 trailer. The major highlights are there, so you know what to look for on the forums.

Enjoy your 2xp freekend!

I suspect that it's due to Stone Spears and Power Customization. They have a very mellowing effect.

This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.

I too was disturbed by the positive post. I believe he should now be "Carebear Citizen".

Good to hear that classes are going well. Remember, if your teacher ever decides to talk to you about slipping grades: Blinding Powder.

"the reason there are so many sarcastic pvpers is we already had a better version of pvp taken away from us to appease bad players. Back then we chuckled at how bad players came here and whined. If we knew that was the actual voice devs would listen to instead of informed, educated players we probably would have been bigger dicks back then." -ConFlict

The reason everybody seems meh is because it's college. Every school experience before college has involved teachers telling you what you had to do, prompting you to do it, and then complaining at you if you didn't do it. If you didn't show up for class a big production was made of it with your family being notified and you being given warnings.

College is the first official learning experience that is totally voluntary. Nobody "parents" you. If you don't show up for class, turn in homework, or take tests it doesn't matter at all. Until you get your grades that is.

A_C welcome back for the Freekend, glad you're enjoying college, hope you can tell us more about your experiences so far (when you're not in-game).

Can I just mention that I "retired" from my first profession and went back to school at 34-years-old, before embarking on an entirely different profession on graduation (at age 38).

As such, I was closer in age to most of my professors than I was to most of my classmates.

How this relates to you: Don't forget that professors are people too, and you can benefit at school and in real life by treating them as such. Consider inviting a favorite professor to an outside event you'll be attending with classmates - a football game, a night out drinking, a gallery opening, a reading, etc...

I made new friends, and useful networking sources with this approach. Granted you're no doubt younger than I, but do consider it, nonetheless.

Just one example: I invited an elderly Journalism prof out drinking with me and some friends from school one evening. We all had a great time, he had AMAZING stories to tell about working at the New York Times for 40 years. At the end of the evening, after he was squeezed into the back of the taxi between two young, very attractive co-eds, he took me aside as we made our farewells and said it was the best night he had had, in a very long time. He had tears in his eyes as he said it.

I got an A+ in that course, swear to God, and he wrote me a stellar recommendation for my first job out after graduating.
