I thought it was Freedom, Justice, Virtue for top 3.

Justice has declined unfortunately.

Anyway, the server list works in reverse order, so just look at that during peak time

If I had to guess:

1) Freedom
2) Virtue
3) Infinity
4) Justice
5+) Ummmm, some other servers.

Just wondering, but how exactly are you defining Top?

Do you mean Top Number of Players? :: That's a pointless measurement since most players have avatars on multiple servers.

Do you mean Top Amount of Prestige? :: Again, pointless. Farmers knocked out any meaning to SG prestige ratings long ago.

Do you mean Most PvP activity? :: Possibly valid question about servers given how low PvP play is. Being able to determine which server actually has people that like to explore a sunken Titanic could be a good thing.

Maybe I'm crazy about this, but I think what matters about a server is whether or not you enjoy playing on it. Does it have players you get along with? Does it have easy to find badge channels? Does it have active SG's recruiting and training new players? How often are Task Force's ran?

Stuff like that should determine whether or not a server is Top.. but such variables are nigh impossible to quantify.

I play on Infinity so I pay close attention to its ranking. Infinity and Justice switch places a lot. I'd say they are currently tied for 3rd.

I don't think OP is asking what our opinion of the "top" (i.e. best) server is, but rather their population rankings. I would define it as "where the most people consider home, or at least can be found more often", in which case 37 and Ironblade sound about right.

1. Champion because we rock and lets face it... Im there.
2. all the rest severs.

You never said population now did you

I'd guess that for 3rd and 4th we probably have to move onto the US server lists - Zukunft and Vigilance just don't count for most players due to language difficulties.

In terms of # of players online, I would think Infinity is #3 and Justice #4. But which servers is #5?

If Freedom is 100
Virtue is about 65-70
Infinity 15
Justice 13

Roughly approximated

This.

Too many players have characters on multiple servers. I know I have full sets of characters on Liberty, Guardian, Triumph & Infinity. Where do I consider my "home server"? I DON'T HAVE a "home server".

Pretty pointless thing to consider of any importance whatsoever IMHO.

Ditto. And I almost actually wrote it that way. 3a and 3b

Agreed, but it is interesting to think about. I don't actually care what the results end up being, but I am interested nonetheless.

Wait, are we reading the same forums?
Pardon me, I need to go read some threads about pie.

Top server?

Whenever I log into the game, Triumph is the top server. Never cared for the rest.

According to Ocho at the convention this summer, "anything under the first two are about the same". The numbers are very even, across pretty much all the servers except for Freedom and Virtue. I suspect they'll always have a large contingent. Protector went from being lolprotector to the little server that could, to "we're up in the high middle what?!".

That's because Protector's cool

Server popularity is a very valid question. Not all of us will be lucky enough to meet a solid core of compatable players who we can have fun with regardless of the rest of the server's population. Some of us are going to have to rely on pick up groups, and would like them to be plentiful. Some of us, in fact, enjoy pickup groups, constantly adapting to new people with different sorts of characters and styles of playing those characters.

Some of us however find certain characteristics to be prominent among many players on the two most popular servers, and may find those traits incompatable with out own playstyles. When Freedom was constantly busy during the AE Farm craze for example, going by population alone the server appealed to me... but logging in to find it mostly empty, except multiple instances of Atlas Park and Cap Au Diable convinced me to finally delete my last Freedom baby (the legendary TOGGLE MAN now resides only in screenshots and memories). I play on Virtue, but freely admit that there are just as many potential irritants there, depending on your tastes, as Freedom on its worst day.

On the other end of the scale, I've played on Triumph, Champion, Pinnacle and Protector, and found them all far too empty for my tastes. Are there good players on those servers? Probably, yeah. Am I likely to befriend them, and become integrated into their community? Knowing how slowly I make friends, and how little patience I have for general purpose chatter channels, probably not.

And thus, I came to Justice. Justice is busy enough that I can find PUGs pretty easily. Justice has players who are interested in working the system to avoid most of the gameplay that I actually enjoy, but they are nowhere near as numerous and intrusive as they are on Freedom. Justice has players who like stirring up trouble and making drama so they can draw attention to themselves, but again, they are far less prominent than on Virtue. Justice doesn't have many Roleplayers, which is why I still mostly play on Virtue, but it has enough of what I'm looking for (the 3rd or 4th highest average population) that more than 1/3rd of my current active characters are located there.

These sorts of threads always wind up full of people getting defensive about their lower population servers, and that bothers the hell out of me. It's obvious that the OP meant general popularity and daily use, because those are the traits in which Freedom and Virtue are unambiguously 1 & 2.

I have full slots on all servers on my main account and have purchased several more for Virtue and Freedom

Its always Union and Defiant at the top of my lists!
I understand that there may be some, shall we say, "colonial" servers but I think the less said about them the better!

Virtue and Infinity are neck and neck, so one will be ahead sometimes.

I have always heard this, but haven't encountered many drunk players on Pinnacle, at least not signifacantly more than on other servers. Me and my friends are mostly drunk on Virtue instead (then we can blame RP :-) )
