What position is your scrapper?

Grr... Enough already! A tread asking a simple question is turning into a pointless debate of irrelevant opinions that are weighed solely on where you live what you grew up on. No one will win the argument of football vs rugby no sooner will a power set win a set vs set debate. Who cares if you like rugby more then football. Or football more than rugby. That wasn't the question.

Dang. Getting me aggravated over what supposed to be a happy go lucky thread.

Sorry...I was not arguing over which is better football or rugby.

I was just arguing on a statement made about breaking a pinky toe.

I got a necklace made out of the pinky toes of 100 rugby players.

In other news, there is an even more stupid 'beat a dead horse' debate in MasterMinds as to wether the devs should let them design their own pets so they can have bikini girls with machine guns. Worth a read.

I actually tried to make a tongue-in-cheek post, taking the "football" bait - using "football" instead of "American football" in an international forum ? That's just asking for it.

Sorry about hurting your feelings. I'd give you a hug but with that armor and all you wear, can't.

This is what I was thinking as well

I am curious now as to whether people get other peoples humour but I think what you are saying is that without Pads, American Football would lead in not just accidents and incidents, but career ending accidents and deaths. Which it would.

I'd have to think hmm where would mine be? Either Center or Offensive Tackle.

I cant imagine how many career-ending and possibly fatal injuries there would be without pads. I think my two main scraps play linebacker and WR respectively

I'm sure you're just really "proud" of "your" "dad", but you're just coming off as being ignorant.

Did I use too many unnecessary quotation marks, or not enough?

I would have to say mine would be a running back.

Well, I've always thought of Scrappers as playing on the defensive side of the ball -- because the offense is trying to shield something (the ball) and avoid contact (being tackled), whereas the defense is running toward the ball trying to smash the ball carrier, knock the ball loose, break up the formation and wreck the play. Running backs and receivers are running away from contact; that feels less Scrappery. My Scrapper isn't trying to run over a chalk line; he's trying to destroy someone. Usually the key someone on the other side.

I generally perceive Scrappers as linebackers. Linebackers are the most versatile defenders -- they are expected to wait in position to tackle runners, run to the ball, line up on the line and rush the QB, or fall back and pass-cover. They're big enough to tackle anyone without being broken, but they're faster and more agile than the heavier linemen. Also, they are not locked into line play nor burdened with the responsibility of at-all-costs preventing deep passes toward the end zone -- they're usually more free to pursue the ballcarrier and wreak havok on the opposing offense.

I thought it was being split in 3? BTW, I stopped at book 7, but would recommend stopping at 6.

Scrappers are versatile. They are the fullbacks & TEs on O who can block, run with or catch the ball. They are safeties and LBs on D who can protect against the run or pass.

Tankers are the big uglies. DL and OL.

Blasters are "skill" positions. WR, RB (blappers) & Corner. They're specialized, but the best are also versatile and can block and play run support.

Controller's the QB. They direct the action from far back, relying on the tankers & scrappers for protection, blasters for "scoring", but the really good ones can scramble & score on their own just fine.

Defenders are the backup QB that half the fanbase thinks should really be starting, but rarely gets the big Nike endorsements or supermodel GFs.

Quality. I first looked at blasters as QBs. I see your point, though.

My first scrapper was a linebacker in high school, and that's the same position he tried to fill in his job as a scrapper. To mangle a quote I swiped shortly after the topic came up back then:

"My primary duty is to get to the ball as possible on every snap, and then stop it, or take it away. If someone gets in the way of my doing that, I hit him -- hard -- and then keep going after the ball. If I can't get to or can't see the ball, my job is to create chaos and mayhem in the backfield until I can see it -- then I'm right back to 'get to the ball and stop it' or 'hit whoever's in my way.'"

Sounds a lot like scrapperlock, each and every down. Er, each and every spawn. Find the boss and stop him. If there's a nuisance mob in the way, hit him twice and THEN get to the boss and stop him.

Nice analogy and one that's making me rethink my other scrapper's "positions." My new main plays lineback at times, but plays "offense" as well trying to protect the squishies in the backfield.
