IO Set Recipes still not dropping

Afternoon all! I started a thread back in open beta about the serious decline in recipe drops and again once it was released live. Synapse has since "fixed" the issue after recognizing that it was not a "perception issue." Except, I am still having serious issues and was wondering if anyone else has been as well?

Been running a new dark/shield scrapper up and from level 32 - 43 (currently), running at +1/7 I have received a total of 7 set recipes. I have gotten a ton of regular IO recipes (for some reason an excess of range) but only 7 set recipes in 9 levels. And let me mention, I also had a LoTG +Global recharge drop from a boss defeat. And I thought those were only TF drops.

Any help?

This was changed a few issues ago, it is very very very rare, but it does help.

As for drops I have been pleased with the rate so far, I do know there is a group still testing this issue so time will tell.

Well, if that is the case then that makes up for all the others. Not denying this may entirely be a perception issue in this case but I am keeping a close eye on it. Was just wondering what everyone else is experiencing.

Btw, forgot to add +1/7/yes/yes

Ya I'm not seeing this either, lots of drops here. And not only that but I have noticed purples have dropped price by quite alot and I expect them to drop even more which makes me happy.

Best way to keep an eye on it is to get Dropstats:

http://www.glasspaw.com/dropstats/

It'll run through the logs, analyze the drops and tell you what you should expect and what you're actually getting. Very handy tool!

I was getting only generic drops for a while as well, but since the first drop that I got after the patch was a purple...so I'm content.

I seem to get a good mix from time to time but mostly commons. They sell well so i don't mind. I haven't gotten a purple in months and it irks me. Seems the fix really did fix it but i'd like to see them move it a touch closer to dropping more set ios than generic ones. Still, it's a good bonus and i'm making some bank once again.

"When a Pool A recipe does drop, the Common:Uncommon:Rare ratio is: 32:8:1 (so Common is 78.05%, Uncommon is 19.51%, and Rare is 2.44%)." So you shouldn't expect more than one rare every 40 recipes or so.

Running two days of soloing through DropStats, I get this:

Code:

(1 in 20 runs will be outside the expected range.)

After running maybe a dozen PI radio missions set for 8 over the last week, today I spent some serious time PLing a couple of other characters and waiting for something good to drop. I've been getting set recipes, but mostly junk. I PLed one character from 8 to 20 and got nothing very interesting... Doctored Wounds triple, couple of similar things, that was it.

Then while PLing a 2nd toon from 17 to 19 (she's pacted, so it took twice as long) -- bang, bang, within an hour I got a Hectacomb and an Absolute Amazement.

So I'm going to bed happy.

Since the fix I've seen the correct number of standard IO set drops. However, I have data mined extensively because I'm concerned about Purple drop rates (because I've received 0 after a ton of kills), which are MUCH harder to test. So here's what I have found. I hope this helps you, even if it might not be what you wanted to hear.

Testing: Lvl 50 Elec/Shield Brute at +8/0/(some yes some no)/no. Ran patron 2nd arc some, Sister Airlia arc completely, and a couple other random missions, 21 in all.

Kills:

Minions: 2470
Lieuts: 1167
Bosses: 329

Expected recipe drops: 154 (not including mission complete drops or purples.)
Recipes received: 160 total (including mission complete drops) - 43 uncommons/rares, 117 commons

So this was pretty much dead on.

Expected Purple drops: about 3
Purples dropped: 0

Reading posts from people who've farmed purples, the expected drop rate is around 1 per 1500 or 2000 minion equivalents (just like the regular recipes, bosses drop recipies 3x as often as minons, and lieuts drop 2x as often as minions.)

As this toon has NEVER gotten a purple drop, I have to wonder if there's something wrong here. However, my patience for testing is running out. Adding insult to my dearth of purples, I got on an ITF team, and as we were still filling it, I killed maybe 50 cim wall mobs (no one else was fighting.) Someone ELSE on the team showed off their purple drop from those kills...

It comes in spurts for me, I'll run a few missions and get nothing at all, then I'll run one mission and it nearly fills up my recipe inventory. It doesn't seem like there's a shortage, just that I get dry spells where I get almost nothing occasionally.

Probably just a perception thing, like the "accuracy nerf". If things are going well you don't notice, but then the random number generator takes a dislike to you for a few minutes and you get the impression of being less accurate.

"What the hell? I just missed 5 times in a row!" ....and most people don't stop to consider that the previous 95 attacks all hit.

As far as purples go, it's an average of every 1500-2000 defeats, not a guarantee. I get very few of them, but I know people who have gotten as many as 3 in one mission.

The small chance for TF recipes to drop from bosses (only bosses as far as I know, minions and LTs won't drop them) is very nice.

I have definitely noticed an increase in drops, but I've also noticed that it's a little more streaky now.

I got two purples last night, which is more than I usually see in a month. As far as I'm concerned, things are looking great. If you're getting crap, then it's just bad luck at this point, really.

Respec recipes are rarer than purples, how often you see people getting them?

There is no variable for recipe drops, if you are a good person . . . . they will come. So be nice people

I've *never* had a respec recipe drop...and I do quite a bit of farming.

On the topic of IOs, I filled up my recipe tray in one-and-a-half runs on my Zombie farm map, six of them set IOs.

Compared to previously when I got 2 recipes total over three runs.

I've noticed this with previous issues where they've added new recipes. That first week or so you seem much more likely to get the new recipes as drops than later on. Don't know for sure, but maybe the code has some kind of counter to make sure enough of one drop has been dropped in a certain amount of time and it got reset with the droprate fix, so it sees that it doesn't have many purples dropped recently so it says drop more. Though this could just be a perception thing.

But the rarity of purple drops is enough that you may not get a purple drop for a long time (thought I heard the rate was 1/5000). I can only think of one that i've gotten and i've played for 2.5 years. You may also get lucky one night and get 2 or 3 in one sitting. That is unfortunately the drawback to random drops. Ya never know when it is coming.

I think i've had 2 maybe 3 respec recipes and yeah 2 runs of my demon farm and i had a full salvage tray [deleted useless salvage after it was filled after 1 run] and a full recipe tray [7 were set recipes].

I'm all for being nice people. Ask my SG, whom I've leveled up, given rare IOs to, etc. or check the boards for the guides I've made (not lots but I've done some work for the community.)

Anyway, believe me, I get its not a guarantee to get them every 1500-2000. I've taken classes in statistical probability. The fact that drops aren't guaranteed is why I've been trying to get a multiple of 2000 kills so I can get so outside likely statistical variance that it can be viewed as an actual problem (or disproved, hopefully with a 4x purple drop However, because of the very infrequent drop rate, I'd rather not do all the work myself and was hoping other people would chime in with similar issues. So far no luck. Maybe that's just it. No luck for me... At least not yet

I've only ever had a couple of purples since they were "invented" - which considering the number of hours I play is low and always has been

I've salso noticed a decrease in drops overall recently but I need to install drop stats to get figures

Since the patch the recipe rates APPEAR to be about at where they should be, and I've been getting a decent mix of yellow and orange recipes about in line with where they should be. I even managed a good purple drop (Gravitational Anchor: Chance to Hold).

Things appear to be fixed.

same here, up until 2 days ago my fire/kin never had a purple drop. was doing battle of maide and was abut to clear the whole map. running towards the last 2 mobs i check the recipe inventory and... absolute amazement my first purple. i finish the first mob of the two left and had 2 more purple drops, armageddon and something else. so 3 in one run, and now i'm afraid it will be months untill i'll get the rest, but at least i got 3 at once lol. -1/8.

I've gotten one respec recipe on dozens of characters over five years, and maybe 5-6 purples (don't play a lot of 50s).

So, you're right: not very often
