Test Server Checksum Error

Correction: It is busted again!

I had been on it for about an hour, got off and played on the live servers no problem. When I just came back it tried to download the SoundVMusic7.pigg file and came up with the same error as originally (not enough diskspace or don't have permissions). I deleted everything out of my COHTEST folder except my AE folders and copied everything from the live COH folder like I did before but I get the same error.

I'M WAVING THE WHITE FLAG ON THIS ONE!!!

Exact same error, tried a fresh -test shortcut off the most recent updater (.5T2) same error again, due to the backwater status of our internet here in Oz my download speeds are severely curtailed by the sheer volume of traffic so emptying the piggs folder and waiting 19 hours for the patch to download replacements isn't on the cards (even tho I have an 18Mbps ADSL2+ synch) so...

Just repeated whole process, new -test shortcut, fresh copy of current live game into test folder...checksummed, file manifest download, verified, another file manifest download, verified again...OK...NEXT!

Played a little...closed program...on relaunch...that error again!

I get the same problems... I delete and re-install, download for hours, get online for a bit, log out for some rest then log back in only to get the same error. Done this several times and it's getting annoying.

You may be out of disk space or you may be trying to install to a
location where you have insufficient permissions
after checking the space left on my drive I checked permissions for the COHTest folder, the Piggs folder, and the file with the issue. I've got more than enough room on my HDD, and the security settings match what's set on the live install.

Also, I'm having this problem on both the desktop I use and my laptop.
i have the same problem

hmm, isn't there a way to load CoH without using the patcher? I forget the code you have to add to the shortcut properties which allows it on live, but it might work in this case as well?

(Adding a disclaimer:

Ahem: this could just be my situation. That's simply similar enough. I just had to rebuild my CoX icons because my "Testing of Heroes" [Training Room] icon was suddenly pointing at my main account... and of COURSE my normal CoH icon at the Training Room @.x

I will re-edit if suddenly it's all back to soundVMusic7.pigg complaining, and the checksum is busted again. *sigh* And no I don't know WHY they switched around x.X

UPDATE: That fixed it for me, the manifest so far is coming up fine for CoH and CoHTest. Both are 11kb. as I don't know why the icons would switch around like that, and that this might be sign for others, I'm leaving the rest of the posting alone

/Disclaimer)

Noticed an hour ago:

******The Checksum file itself is breaking.******

4KB instead of 11KB (or there abouts as it is close in size to Live).

It says the installation is about half the size it should be even with every file in place. The exact place CohTest.checksum breaks? You guessed it soundVMusic7.pigg:

Test:
file "piggs/soundVMusic7.pigg"
time 1253127656
full 30110410 d8b51d63 7ec5391e 98

Live:
file "piggs/soundVMusic7.pigg"
time 1253127656
full 30110410 d8b51d63 7ec5391e 9884612c 9cd52396

I've copied the entire directory from live. However I must have something just a little different in my Coh.Checksum and so it gets the manifest again and then the ChoTest.checksum breaks itself again and the loop resumes.

Hopefully this helps some people avoiding a reinstall... as it's likely to remain broken for a bit until the Devs break out the bugspray. (The Bugspray might have been applied. Unsure)

Im actually getting the checksum error when I try to install CoH on a different computer. I dunno everytime that a new issue gets released it seems to blow some things apart..... very frustrating and very tiresome.....

Varying checksum file sizes:

This week, if I delete my checksum file and rebuild it, it includes entries for every file in the City Of directory, such as OVER NINE THOUSAND! screenshots, costumes, binds, AE missions, vidiotmaps images, backup files, etc etc. Makes it hard to copy the installation to the test directory or a new computer, and makes the checksum file unnecessarily big. In the past, only critical files were checksummed.

Edit: Or, I never paid attention to what goes on while the updater is "Downloading file manifest" before. XD Apparently it checksums everything, then asks the server what's important. Or something. In which case, this has nothing to do with different checksum files on Test vs Live and is just a temporary failure of the little nut that holds the mouse.

Looks like it's working now. Did we get a new patch?

Must be. Works for me too now. Wasn't working before.
