Quote:That's what I forgot...the server patch after game shut down...same.Is this related to Login Server?
Hubby is on the game now on his 'puter, we're networked through the same system, and I am unable to get past the login screen. I am getting the "login server is not responding" message. .... Hubby just got the same thing attempting to log my account in on the laptop.
I AM able to log in to test.
The last time I was logged in on live was night before last, and the post-game patch loaded up.
This is just weird.
ETA: curiouser and curiouser.. now it's working again

Quote:Davey will be in attendance, with bells on (Vanguard bells that is...unknown cosume piece that is invisible to the untrained eye)This coming Sunday is the first anniversary of Infinity's weekly Sunday Ship Raid. To celebrate the occasion, after the usual ship raid, we are holding a Vanguard themed costume contest with 1 billion inf to be awarded in prizes (500 mil red/blue). Winning costumes must contain at least one Vanguard costume piece. Additionally, there will be a Rikti War Zone themed trivia contest with 50 million inf in prizes to be awarded, so dust off that Paragonwiki page and study up on your RWZ lore.
Events will kick off at 8 PM EST Sunday 8/8/10, but be prepared to arrive early as we often max out the zone, and no events are planned for RWZ 2!
Thanks for being there to kick the Rikti!

Anything would be better than CO...
And as to 'getting my boxers twisted' the only reason I stayed paying at that time was to get in to the beta, seriously test and provide feedback so that was money I could have used elsewhere, like STO or SWG or WoW instead of being bored batty waiting for GR for almost a year now. If this is the kind of 'loyalty' being shown then I think I'll take my loyalty (and my money) elsewhere -
Quote:Yeah, I'm beginning to question what my 'loyalty' is worth...hello, what's that shiny new mmorpg over there...*sighs* Yeah...I was sort of afraid this would be how it would turn out in the end. If it's just ComicCon, that's even more sad, hopefully it's more than that. I had a friend who was a vet to the game back when CoV was in beta (I was only in for about 4-5 months and didn't even know CoV was coming until the public announcements) that were supposedly guaranteed access to the beta if their paid time was at least 18-24 months, something like that, similar to this situation. They never got in, even though it was promised, and that person is still bitter about it to this day, even though I pointed out that that was the "old administration" and Cryptic, and while we expect that from them, that Paragon would be much more on the up and up in a similar situation."
Sadly it's possible I may have to eat those words now, as it looks like history is repeating itself.
Let me be clear, I really don't care in the end if I get/got into beta or not. I've had my share, over half of them since i9's first closed beta, and I did a lot of actual work, especially on Flashback testing back in..11 or 12. I had a year paid account when the loyalty program went in, so I was going to get it regardless, and I didn't pay with the expectation of getting anything, I was just playing and having fun.
However, by the same token, I understand that when a group of people believe something in good faith and it turns out to be less than ideal, why they might be upset.
This is to say nothing of the fact I passed 60 month status in June, and I won't even touch that one.
Color me disappointed, at least. Oh well, life goes on. With Alpha Incarnate removed, there wasn't that much I was actually interested in testing, as I didn't want to "spoil" the storylines for the tip missions and Praetoria anyway, so I guess there wasn't much to test. Perhaps I'll have better luck in i19 when all of this hackneyed "Loyalty" stuff is over with. -
Quote:are you using Catalyst Control Centre or just the drivers? If using CCC set everything under 3D>All to:Hey guys,
I'm randomly having my GPU stop responding to driver commands, and the ATI recovery program keeps rebooting it, while im playing City.. I've narrowed it down to only city that causes the problem, and i recently updated to the 10.6 drivers.. I'm running a Radeon HD 4870 with 512RAM, with most of the UM stuff maxed out. i know, low end of the 4870 spectrum, but it should still be able to handle everything right?
Any advise on whats the best settings for me to use for my card? I'm running Win XP pro, with up to date patches, and about 4 gigs of ram.
Thanx in advance
Check the first two boxes - Use Application Settings (Smoothvision HD AA and HD AF)
Disable Catalyst AI
Mipmap and AA Mode to Full with Wait for Vertical Refresh either Off or Off unless application specifies otherwise
Triple Buffering Enabled (possibly disable this for your card - I found it interfered with MCE causing screen tearing under pre-10.5)
Also, is your XP Pro installation 32 or 64 bit?
If 32, a possible roll back your drivers to 10.2 by doing a complete uninstall and clean install (with reboot and cancel searching for drivers in between) may provide better results as your OS can only address approx. 3.1~3.2Gb whereas 64 bit can address all 4Gb of RAM; and is it straight DDR2 on the gfx card or GDDR5
Finally, dump the max-out on UM settings back to about 3/4, disable FSAA or AO in-game - they aren't compatible, it seems, on anything but CCC 10.6 on a 64bit OS (apart from nVidia cards although I'd love to be corrected on this)
I hope this helps, it's the only thing I can think of, I'm running a Radeon HD 5750, mid-range HD card on a 64bit OS under W7 Home Prem. on a Core2Duo chipset (that's another thing: dual/quad or single core?)

Quote:Oh TV...all my fantas...sorry too much informationI am really, really glad you brought this up! It has been a major point of confusion for a lot of people. There is a right way and a wrong way to read the Television. The right way is as follows:
1) begin by assuming/imagining the following text at the beginning of every Television post: "The screen flicks on. It shows an image of the most attractive programmer you have ever seen in your entire life. This guy is a Greek God of cool. You must either be watching some kind of reality show for impossibly gorgeous people or a documentary on one of the world's most brilliant minds (of all time)."
You can assume that part because I'm speaking in my programmer voice, and I'm pretty sure that's how people would describe me if they saw me on Television.
2) read whatever I put in my post as though it were in quotes. That's what the intimidatingly beautiful programmer on screen is saying. Try to read a little extra wit and charm into it, because I'd add those if I weren't so busy.
3) Finally, finish up with: "The programmer now turns his heart-breaking-ly beautiful gaze directly at you. Please, viewers, do not forsake your friend the Television or berate it with criticism of its role playing. Do not discriminate against the beautiful. No, you should embrace beauty by watching Television and the I17 graphics upgrade in CoV." -

Quote:All is good...thankyou Television, you've always looked after me (or was that the big RadiationMaster2000 that mother had when I was a baby?...)I'd copy over from live. The original problem was that your updater deleted a bunch of your files in a fit of rage and frustration. Your updater has been pacified, but in order to avoid having to get all those files again, just copy from live. The change from live should be tiny.
Please let me know if anyone else is still having this or a similar issue. -
Quote:Just launched updater and have a 2.6 Gb file fix (local time 8am)This happened to you with this morning's publish to training room?
Definitely not intended. We're investigating. Just to be clear:this is what you had after you finished updating?
Yes, the launcher wiped out the piggs folder, so...
Recopied Test backup; all is good. 8.12am local 5.7Mb patch and into game, earlier patch was at 1am local, approx 3Mb
p.s. there was a night's sleep in between then and now -
Just did a patch of around 3Mb and all of a sudden there's no game? CoX Live folder showing 3.1Gb, test folder showing 798Mb, checked piggs folder and that's what's missing...most of the piggs

MSSE for anti-virus/malware, PC Tools Firewall Plus (nice and free), Tweak Now Powerpack 2010 for everything else: registry, temp files, old, bak and all the other crap as well as some nifty tweaking utilities that are safe to use without fear of completely screwing your OS...
on Win7 x64 -
Same issue, bugged it but as of posting not fixed.

Quote:/em crouch or Ninja Run, then at the same time 'a' or 'd' plus 'space' should get you outI found an issue. Not sure if it's just on Liberty, but every time someone goes to Cimerora, they end up stuck in the floor under the crystal. /stuck doesn't work. Leaving Cimerora we seem to end up with our heads stuck in the crystal. I have seen this happen to multiple people.

Freedom was the server chosen by the looks of it, same prob...all my toons (25 or so) nuked and replaced with my Freedom list ( I never play them, have never copied them over so I was quite *shocked*)

it's back up...just don't expect what you might expect....see the Test server overwritten thread

I have 2 characters on Test 02, one that was transferred about a week and a half agao and one that was made the same day,
On 01 I have 5 characters...which I deleted over a month ago...yet I had an almost full list on Training Room (which I believe was actually 02 renamed while new server tech was deployed and then we had that trial run the last few days on 02 - which was Training Pool) ringing any bells?
WHERE ARE ALL MY CHARACTERS?
Not too concerned realy...was just surprised, I had a plan to try a respec on a couple b4 live publish...now they gone...{our hero walks off, shoulders slumped, dragging his cape along the floor like a cheap fur}
and in reference to the OP, my toons from Freedumb wound up on test...I've never transferred those toons to test -
Wilkommen, bienvenue, welcome..to CoX Boards...to CoX Boards...to CoX Boooooaaaaaarrrrrrrdddddsssss
-
Transfered a toon across, apart from a big delay on initial zone in no problems...indoors I usually float between 20-30fps sometimes dips down to the low teens but if this test is about performance...WOW...50-60fps with a little blip down to 45...NICE! Outdoors was always 15-20fps now averaging 25-30 (interestingly engaged an outdoor foe and fps went up to 45).
Then I tried creating a toon...got all the way through to enter tutorial zone...program not responding. No mapServer connection. Try again. Logged in and got invalid character info, no hero icon in the slot nor an avatar. Obviously a problem there. Seems I'm experiencing what everyone else experienced.
Made a toon and went straight to AP; gonna log out and back in...all good...gonna try Tutorial; still a no go, same result
