What effect is I16 having?

I know it's early, but what impact are you seeing?

Reduced MA farming/pl'ing?
Increased solo farming in standard missions with extra difficulty options?
Lots of new alts increasing low level drops and starving mid level drops?

lol with everyone packing icon and the facemaker to the gills, you probably won't see any impact for at least a week.

Also thanks to the work of some diligent folks it's been found that the drop rate is currently borked.

As far as market effects go, I know I've pulled all my cash out of the marketplace and am waiting for someone else to make the first move.

I'll probably start crafting and selling either generic IOs or the huge pile of random junk I ended up with from gold rolls, and give it a week or two before I invest heavily.

Well I started a new toon on a server I didn't have anything on previously. Judging by the number of tier 3 red and green insps available on WW a LOT of people have made new toons. I was picking up the red insps for a pittance and turning 3 of them into more valuable insps every time I went past WW.

My toon is level 12 now and is all ready sitting on 7 mil inf and I'm completely IOd out with level 15 sets.

There is also a huge over supply of tier 1 salvage again and prices on it are cheap except on those bits that were always hard to come by pre-MA.

Most of the broadcasts I heard in Atlas were for people looking for sewer teams instead of people saying, "level 6 fire/kin looking for 54 AE boss farm."

Other than that it's too early to tell.

Well, if everyone is in icon and not playing, that is an impact. Icon is an influence drain. Not playing means the supply of drops goes down. Less influence chasing fewer drops... um, I'm not sure what that will do.

I had forgotten about the drop rate issue. That's just for recipes or salvage as well? Anything that drops the supply will put upward pressure on prices.

Did I hear something about a double xp weekend coming after I16 dropped?

Market turnover was pretty slow yesterday, easily visible with the lack of large crowds present in WW and the BM. Lower level salvage and recipes seemed to be moving more quickly as people started playing new characters and placing their goods on the market. I expect it will continue this way during the week as people try out new power colors and new characters and then this will all resume fairly close to normal turnover when the weekend arrives as more higher level (come colorized) characters resume play.

As for the effect of I16, I'll still be buying, selling and crafting in the niches I'm in and the niches I'm watching. It'll shift, but I doubt it will be drastic.

This is true but I would point out as far as generating influence goes I make a lot selling my level 50 common IO recipes to the NPCs. While I get more from my market sales of my other drops that is just moving inf from another character and destroying 10% in fees but that NPC selling I do actually creates inf.

If this goes on for long enough could it end up being deflationary?

Yes, but no date has been given yet.

On Virtue, there were 2 instances of PI at many points. That hasn't happened since before AE went live.

The only announcements for AE teams I've heard seem to have been jokes.

Played some new alts, had a go at the Cuda SF last night to work on Masters Tactics and fiddled with the difficulty slider settings on my brute.

Set for 4 council was fine, Rikti was rough but doable, Carnies, not so much.

Need to find a sweet spot, until he gets more IOs.

He also got his first purple drop of the I16 era.

Team size 4 for Carnies was giving me a MI or DRM every spawn. That's just masochism for a soloist.

Good point. I was thinking of set recipes, but common recipes are really just influence.

Sadly, the announcements of "Lowbies 4M/run" are showing up in PI on Freedom again. As I feared, the PLing is just moving back to where it was before AE came out.

On the plus side, it seems that the price of common salvage is already going down.

I noticed Fortunes were selling for 1,000 or possibly less. They were recently selling for 50,000 to over 100,000. Not sure if that means common (and uncommon) salvage prices are dropping across the board, but if they do, that wouldn't surprise me much.

My main hasn't sold anything in two days. It's all stuff that was selling last weekend.

Anecdotally speaking, I'd say a lot of people are at Icon's (not spending money at the Market), playing brand new toons (who do not need IO'd yet), not making tons of money off of AE tickets as they were before (and therefore not spending that money), and that more people are running regular missions (or soloing them set to large spawns) and selling the salvage and items they get.

Sales seem normal to me, but supply is noticeably down on certain items.

So far the only thing that worries me (as a crafter) is if rare salvage will make a strong comeback. That will cut into my margins, and it's not certain if the price increase can be passed on to buyers. I'd rather have cheap rare salvage and expensive common salvage than the other way round.

It's too early to call.

Wait a couple weeks, then we might have something meaningful to comment on.

Can anyone point me to the thread where the drop rate is proven to be broken? I hope many people pm'd a developer...

Here is the testing.

They have been running farms and missions and doing the math. I'm sure there are other threads too, this is just the closest.

Barring the effects of the drop rate problem, I expect to see an increase in the level 49 pool A sector. Seems there are a lot of people setting for -1/6 or 8

I'm loving dual boxing the demon set to 8 and -1. My fire/kin and fire/rad is runninng thru it in less than 20minutes. Salvage is getting close to full on each run and recipes are about 11 per run. About 1/2 and 1/2 on commons and sets. I've just been placing all salvage for 222 and selling it fast as i'm not worried about making a killing on salvage as much as the recipes.

Best drops have been 3 Crushing Impacts and 1 Oblit damage on one run and 4 orange salvage on 1 run.

Rare salvage is cheap now because demand is down due to AE allowing you to buy exactly what you want for 540 tickets. I can do one quick mission with my brute set for x4 team size and get that with minimal fuss and muss.

If the price of rares goes up knowledgeable players will spend a few minutes in AE to get what they need.

I think it depends. In the 30 minutes it takes me to make 540 tickets solo, I can make 90m on the market over 3 days. That's no an exaggeration or approximation, I limit myself to 10 minutes a day on the market so I can enjoy playing the game and turn over about 30m a day in profit.

I'd have to be looking at around 2m before I'd put a group together for many AE runs. I'd have to need several of whatever the 2m item was.

In the long term, 540 tickets is 9 bronze rolls, which is likely to net you more than 1-2m when crafted and sold. You'd probably do better to pay for the item and spend the tickets on recipes, then craft and sell the results to recoup the infamy.

Agreed, that's pretty much why there's a ceiling to the price of rares. It's going to be interesting to compare the ticket earning rates pre-patch and now to see if the ceiling is going to go up or not. Specially with the bugged drop rate, rolling recipes may get increasingly profitable and make tickets worth more, that'd make the top price for rares higher. Why get a rare directly if rolling Pool As net you more inf for you to buy it in the market and have some to spare.

Tickets vs. Regular is an interesting comparison too. The more people run regular content, with its random drops, the more variable the prices of rares is going to be: while the tickets put a nice ceiling on their price, the fact that random can generate a lot of rares that are in lower demand, even if you don't want them, makes it more likely for certain rares to drop farther away from the price ceiling than others. That's why when everyone was running nothing but AE the price of rares was so nicely normalized, no randomness.
