In your opinion what is the most fun class to play?

Me, I love playing Masterminds and then pretending that all the other ATs on the team are just more meat-shields. But in all seriousness, I love Masterminds because they're a fairly unique experience to play in CoX, even if it often errs on the side of being easy-mode in an already-easy game.

I like most AT's in the game. There's so much choice in Power Pools, that even if you find certain Controller pools boring, you can always pick different pools. And the character plays completely differently.
(In fact I'd like a Super-Respec in the game, which would allow to change the primary and secondary pools. Helps especially if you're new to the game, and pick pools that just "sound cool". And later find out that you really don't like them.)

The only AT's I didn't find interesting was the Villain-side epic archetypes. And that was just because you had so little choice in the appearance. I played a Widow to lvl 5, and got bored because the character looked so boring, and deleted it. Why are the costume choices for them so insanely restricted?
Same thing with Hero Epics. All tadpoles and giant dwarfs look the same, which makes the whole AT boring to me. The most I got out of a Warshade was lvl 25, and I'm probably never going to play it again.

As for the most fun class, I'd have to say that I've had the most fun experiences playing a Mastermind. Especially if you get a large team of MM's together. The amount of action on the screen is just insane!

Psssst, once you hit level 10, you can do a VEAT mission that gives you an early new custom slot and you never have to wear your uniform again.

I, however, love having the uniform slot, and walking around in a Bane Spider Uniform makes me feel all important and mighty. Then again, maybe I just like men in uniform. Who knows?

Edit: There is also the option the option to play human-form only WS'es. They *ARE* a valid choice. That way you can preserve your sense of individuality, both by now picking the powers most take, and by always using your costume of your own design.

Oh, didn't know about that lvl 10 VEAT thingie! Thanks, that's good to know. Maybe now I'll pick one up.

I hear murmurs about human-form Epics being a valid choice. I guess that happens later in the game. At least for the first 25 levels the tadpole and giant dwarf seem to be the best forms to be in. It made the AT especially boring, picking powers and enhancement slots you know you're never going to use. Zzzzz.
I'd like to see a complete revamp of the Epic Archetype blueside. More power choices for the different forms and things like that. Customizable appearances.

The best thing is, you still get the usual costume slots at levels 20, 30 and 40, so you get four normal costumes and the uniform. Furthermore, if you trade in Halloween salvage, you get a 'hidden' sixth costume slot, however, that one is a copy of your second costume slot you make at level 20, it's it can only be accessed through /slash commands, and you can never change it with the Facemaker.

Technically, that sixth costume slot isn't there, but if you prepare your second costume slot appropriately, you do have in essence five costumes and the uniform.

Is it the halloween salvage that gives the 6th, or is it just the order you do them in?

I like my super strength/will power brute. Currently at level 33 and having a blast with her. So fun knocking goodies up in the air. (I even turned off my exp gain for awhile so I could hit up more story arcs before out leveling them.)

When I'm in more of a lazy mood, I drag out my mastermind and let my bots do all the killing.

...
Sorry I don't know anything about the Halloween salvage, never been around for that event.

I have gone to find myself. If I get back before I return, Keep me here!

I am fairly certain it's the order you do them in, but I never traded in Halloween Salvage on my VEAT, whether before or after unlocking the level 40 costume slot. Let's just assume it's whatever slot you haven't gotten yet, though.

Well I'll find out in about 4 levels on my VEAT. The only thing he hasn't done is the 40.

Nalrok summed it up - what do you enjoy?

I seem to build a lot of scrappers, blasters, tanks, and brutes. Fewer controllers, defenders, doms, corrupters. MMs - I have a few, but have to be in the mood to play them.

I do indeed enjoy in-yer-face hand to hand with the scrappers, tanks, and brutes. Or with the blasters, the high speed, occasionally white knuckle, tactical game. Very different fights with my fire/fire/fire blaster (in, hit, dodge, kill, heal, in again) versus the ice/ice blaster (freeze and attrition), versus the archery/dev blaster (careful tactical preparation of the kill zone then drive the enemies into it).

My scrapper doesn't need an AoE. She IS an AoE.

Defenders are fun.
Corruptors are fun.
Warshades are fun.

Everything else is boring.

For me it's less about class that powersets, playstyle, and how I feel that day. My Plant/Thorns Dominator is loads of fun because of Seeds of Confusion and Carrion Creepers and the Domination button. My Martial Arts Scrapper is fun because I like the animations. Spinning around on the floor and knocking a bunch of guys down at one time is really funny to me. I solo with my Ice/Kin Controller and Dark/Dark Defender and have fun, but they're even more fun on teams. My Scrappers and Brutes do well on teams, but are great to play solo, too. My VEAT was fun after I leveled and got to pick the branch I wanted and a team full of VEATS is great fun because you feel pretty unstoppable.

I didn't really get into MasterMinds because it feels too passive to me (and I'm a micro-managing MM), but I have friends who think they're awesome.

The "most fun" class depends more on the individual players than the actual ATs or Powersets.

Blueside - Defenders all the way, of course I kinda turn mine into Offenders. Tanks and Scrappers are pretty fun too.
Redside - tie between Brutes and Dominators. Fury makes me more ADD than when on a scrapper and dominators are just awesome to play. Corrs come in at a close 2nd and all other redside ATs are tied for...5+2...7th.

I like to have a toon for every mood.

Controllers make me feel... well... super! I love being able to have so many ways to screw with the bad guys. "Deceive" or "Confuse" are my favorite powers... lay one of those on the boss, then grab some popcorn and watch him trash his minions. Having so many options can get kinda confusing, though, so I only play my trollers when I have some brain cycles to spare (which is not that often).

When I come home from work and I'm feeling grumpy as heck, there's nothing like pulling out my SS/Invuln Tanker. Smash! Fists flying, ground shaking, bad guys flying up in the air -- very satisfying.

Most of the time, though... I'm a scrapper. This is partly out of necessity. I play a lot at 5am eastern, and face it... there ain't a lot of other heroes up at 5am. In any case, the Scrapper is very exciting... you're up close and personal, you're fully committed, you're living on the edge. And your job is not complicated... step one: identify bad guys... step two: squash them like bugs. Optional step three: say Hi to nurse Betty as you step off the hospital teleporter and readjust your suit for the run back to the mission site.

since we're getting personal:

my favorite is the brute. You get rewarded for taking risks. for example:

you defeat a group of enemies and now you have a sizeable ammount of Fury but your Hp is not very high. So you either A) wait and get full hp but lose all of your fury. or B) go on fighting with reduced hp but have higher damage.

honestly i find it very fun and rewarded. i don't know why though.

Tanker

Very satisfying to stand in the middle of the fight, take a metric buttload of damage, and keep on doing it. All the while making life easier for your team. That's fun for me

Blue-side it's Defenders 14 then Controllers at 11.
Red-side Corruptors leading at 8.

Most fun would be Offenders.

Scrappers. It doesn't suffer the annoying stuff the game can throw at you (mezz, etc...), most of the times it's just killing stuff and doing it well, with style on top of that.

Defenders have a lot of fun powers as well and i like the archetype. But the fact they can't solo anything at a decent speed and their damage is useless most of the time detracts from the archetype for me. I keep making builds for them thinking how cool and awesome it would be... until i remember they're defenders, and the only thing worthwile i'll be doing will be to buff/debuff/heal my team, while being too lazy to bother attacking anything for 80 damage.

Right. Try playing an Empathy Defender like a Storm Defender, or a Rad Defender like a Forcefielder. It plain out won't work; they're too different.

Although the differences are most obvious in the buff/debuff and control sets, it's true even of some Scrapper and Tanker builds. Your MA/SR Scrapper will play pretty differently from Spines/Dark, for example.

I find a lot of different ATs and powerset combinations fun. One thing that really makes a character click for me, though, is when I can marry a concept, name, and look to the powersets I've chosen. When that all comes together, I find myself enjoying powersets I previously thought bland.

If I were choosing a combo for you, I'd make a bunch of babies that sound interesting, and try to come up with name/concept/costume for each. Something will sort of coalesce into a great character -- and it's not always easy to tell in advance which that will be! Once that happens, you're on the way to a "main" or a character you'll talk and write about for years.

For me it would have to be a Spines/Fire Scrapper

My two favorite ATs are blaster and controller with blaster being the favorite.

It's also very true that even within a single AT, the powersets you choose will make the gameplay very different. I love my stormy and I really like my TA defender, but even though she is pretty powerful, I tend to get bored with my dark defender because she's so easy.

On the blaster side, I have 3 50s and each plays differently. I have one ranger, one jack of all trades build, and one blapper. Each is fun and each plays completely differently.
