Question For Farmers
Some people enjoy having specific self set goals. I enjoy building some of my characters towards specific goals, those that I have specific goals for I play with a mind towards those specific goals.
When I play my Ill/Rad I'm focused on getting to the final goal (my final goal, which is different than anyone else's), I have so many goals for him that I strongly doubt I'll ever achieve them all given my playtime and style, but every step closer makes me smile. Other characters are more for less directed fun. Those that I don't have goals for, I tend to play in a much less directed manner. I don't really care what I'm doing on my scrapper for instance. If it sounds fun, that's where I'm going. I doubt I'll even bother with common IO's for that one, much less an optimized build. Farmers farm because they are farmers. It doesn't matter even how you define farming, it could be street sweeping in atlas. If you define their group membership based on an activity, if they participate in that activity they are a member of the group. There is not one answer to why all of them participate in that activity, each one has their own personal reasons. Given that it's a video game, I'm guessing that the answer for most people is they derive some sort of enjoyment from farming. And that's probably the only true answer to your question. |
You are now my favorite redname.
My Characters
There are more parallels between my approach to the game and the Ocho's approach to the game than I am entirely comfortable with.

My City Was Gone
I'm happy to have a lot of the same game views as Ocho!
"The CoH Development team officially supports farming, because some people find it fun."
So then does this count as an official red name post supporting farming? Can I quote you on that Ocho?

Princess Buttercup is going to be mad at you if sheep exp gets nerfed next.
My Characters
"One day we all may see each other elsewhere. In Tyria, in Azeroth. We may pass each other and never know it. And that's sad. But if nothing else, we'll still have Rhode Island."
Am I the only one that finds it completely ironic that this thread was started by "Farm Boy"?

Naw, she doesn't care about the sheep. Fezzik would be pissed at me though...
RIP Andre, we hardly knew ye.
I also like to track GM's. (giant monsters) So, for the record i'm a GIANT FARMER.
I'm not familiar with your goat so it really doesn't matter to me

Now I must retire to a dark room to weep and console myself by counting my ill gotten inf.

What else am I going to do on my 6 year old level 50?
Save Ms. Liberty (#5349) Augmenting Peacebringers The Umbra Illuminati
And how can you make a cake without ingredients... hmm? And one of those ingredients is... flour, right? And... how does one get flour? Exactly right Westley... one farms so that one can make cake!!
|
That 6 year old should NOT be farming for the flour for his own cake! Child labor laws!
That's it, I'm calling DSS!

Unlike my theatrical namesake, I was born and bred a city boy on the east coast. Hell, I never even saw a live RABBIT in person until I moved out to Iowa for college.
-Purples I can use/sell to equip myself and sgmates.
-It's fun piling a crapload of Family/Nemesis/Freakshow (RIP)/anything and nuking the crap out of them.
-Tests my build's survivability against aggro cap.

The developers have created a system that rewards farming and in many ways encourages this activity. Why farm? Because the game encourages it.
I also like to see loads of orange numbers soaring into the sky!!!
