Ultralite RP?
The Cape Radio parties enjoy a fair amount of "skin deep" RP. You might try them.
I've seen tons of players who don't want to "dedicate" themselves to their characters, and enjoy very casual, light-hearted RP every now and then. If you put all these people in a group, it would take away that "no dedication" feeling that these people enjoy. So, I'm thinking that's why there are no groups with this goal in mind.
Regardless, I've done similar RPs in tons of PuGs. Especially TF PuGs. It's fun!
I don't know about groups for that sort of thing, but I work about the same way (my characters have personalities, generally, but not a lot of backstory, and I'm not really interested in plotting out stuff to happen to them; fiction-wise, I'm just a consumer), and I've had luck with teaming with more serious RPers in their non-RP moments. Since it's something they've worked at, light RP comes naturally even during downtime. They're relaxed because there isn't any pressure to do anything significant, and it's a lot of fun.
Angel Witch II - Chord of Souls - Storm Witch II - Princess of the Dawn - Standing Horse - Witch of Xymox
Silent Scream - Shadow Witch II - Liquid Serenade - Nebulous Dawn - Ghost Witch II -Xiberia
I'm always ready for a light/casual/whatever-you-want-to-call-it RP team, so feel free to look me up on the Major or any of my other alts (@Major James Ashe).

Just do your RP on pick up groups. Get too much grief for something your character says, have them wave off the team as 'not compatible' with your worldview. Sounds arrogant but then this is supers we are talking about.
Someone really takes offense send them an IC tell and explain your lite rp stance.
No muss, no fuss, and even works as a dessert topping. :P

I also tend to "go with the moment" RP-wise, although I would not call myself RP Lite. To me, the huger, complicated storylines, while fine in tabletop RPGing, can become a nightmare online. Schedules don't match, drama explosions can happen. I don't make any huge over-arcing ideas for my characters; I let their day to day experiences in-game shape them.
That said, the Mission Architect is way cool for this kind of RP. You can make an arc to run with folks, RP through it as you like, and it's all contained.
The downside to our style of RP is: we don't tend to hang at Pocket D. We're RPing our characters inside missions and just outside the door of the missions (or sometimes in the AE waiting room). So, we don't tend to centralize and find each other.
Maybe we should declare one of the Mission Architect buildings as the Unofficial RP one, so all of us have a better chance of meeting up with each other?

I also just "go with the flow" with RP. You won't see me talking to people beforehand to work on exactly how an RP is going to happen. I just do it.
Only difference is you'll probably never see me talk OOC ((unless it's like this))

Yah. I use the brackets for OOC (although mine is a bind that looks like ((OOC) so I don't have to continually add a ) to all my OOC chat. I'm not SO heavy that I don't OOC chat at all; no, I tend to be very much a peanut gallery. That's why I don't think of myself as "lite", and I also keep Ye Olde MUSH RP conventions. Like posing an attempt and letting the other player pose a reaction, or waiting to see the RP in a scene that's happening prior to posing my entrance.
I also tend to be elitist, liking a decent amount of punctuation in poses and no use of emoticons in an IC pose. That kinda thing.
RL is kind of overbusy right now, but I hope to see folks in game. I like the idea of KR's AE building. You need some amount of brainpower to get there and the zone is underappreciated.

The only bad thing about the whole "go with the flow" style RP is text fights. Where the other person has it in their mind that their character is somehow so powerful that they're above the rules of DJ Zero. Or they're as powerful as every single superhero/villain in existance combined, and then some.
That's why text fighting is stupid, though.

Wow. So there -are- people in the woodwork. I'm 100% redside so king's row is less of a place to meet and more of a target for mayhem.
It seems like there's enough interest to put together a 'LiteRP' channel. So, now all I have to do is figure out how to put together a persistent channel and administrate it. You'd think there'd be a help file for that sort of thing so I could RTFM.
I wonder, would a lite RP channel attract noncommittal trolls?

I've done what I call RPvP, which is in the arena usually. The folks involved can decide "okay, this many KOs means X, or this result means Y, and if this other thing happens, the result is M." and it's worked out well. You do need mature players, though, who don't have to have everything go their way 100% of the time.
While I say "go with the flow", I always reserve the right to not RP and simply walk away from someone who is instigating RP I feel uncomfortable with, or who is trying to take advantage of me. This goes double for strangers coming up to me in the D (the few times I am there.) I know some folks who feel that they have to treat everything that happens in-game as IC, but I'm not one of them.

I call that godmoding, mostly, and avoid it and people who do it. Especially in the D, where the canon clearly states no fighting.

Well, I did say I was elitist
For me, mainly a question of RP styles and clashes. Kind of like putting Keanu Reeves in a film version of a Shakespearean play. (Oh wait, they did that..)

Oh, I hate when they do the Power posing also, I jsut find it funny how many people say there is not fighting in the D, when a standard fist fight would be possible, Although the offending people would more than likely get kicked out and banned. That would be a neat feature for the D.

If there was a rule that didn't allow punching people in Pocket D, then what happens to a guy who wants to joke with his best pal and punch him in the shoulder?
If there was a rule that didn't allow any sort of violence in Pocket D, then what would happen to Super-Hero/Super-Villain taunts? That's violence, in my opinion.
Bottom line is, you can't turn Pocket D into a hippie zone. And you can't define a strict rule on what is, or isn't allowed in Pocket D. On top of all this, you can't control people.
But now I'm just going off topic. Sorry.
The problem is discussed ad nauseam. The issue is, you can't really sit down and make a list of everything that is considered 'fighting', and what it not considered 'fighting'. *not issue as in they are bad for being the way they are, but for trying to for people to their way of thinking. Sort of God-moddish if forcing your opinions and ideals on others*

The cooperative zone dialogue displayed when a character enters the D states, "DJ Zero has gone to great lengths to ensure the Pocket D is neutral ground. There is no fighting here."
I see no misquoting here, just a canon statement that's so vague and lacking in explanation that players are forced to interpret the rule according to their own lights.

Hello, world.
So, I've been on Virtue since the dawn of time. I have a general concept for most of my characters, and I occasionally spend the time to write up descriptions for the ones I play most. If you've met Somnia or Tabula Raja, that's approximately what I mean. I lead teams frequently, and I like the idea of RPing as part of the team experience.
..but I hate drama with a passion that can weld steel. I have absolutely zero interest in participating in an ongoing plot, I'm aggravated by the lack of creativity in character development many people show (I'm a brujah! I'm a lycan!) and I generally think the whole concept of MRP/ERP belongs on Tapestries or IRC, not a superhero MMO.
Is there any interest in the sort of 'skin deep' RP I enjoy, or am I neither bird nor beast when it comes to munchkins vs RPers? Are there any groups for this sort of thing? I see the typical RPVGs around often enough, but I've got a VG I'm quite proud to lead and it's based on a totally different premise.
