Quote:The only suggestion I would have about such a change is that it might be less confusing to new players to have the playstyle forums directly mirror the playstyle options listed during character creation, to avoid -- for example -- having a player choose the tanker playstyle and scrapper archetype during creation, then coming to the forums and finding that all the scrapper guides are in the melee DPS forum. The current Archetype and Powers forums can seem very intimidating to a new user/some current users. In some cases these forums also are not the most active. A tactic I have found to be successful in the past is to group these forums into playstyle or role type, transferring over the most relevant and current posts. The division would go something like this:
- Tanks: Brutes and Tankers
- Ranged DPS: Blasters, Corrupters and Dominators (Doms could also go under support)
- Support: Controllers, Defenders and Masterminds
- Melee DPS: Stalkers and Scrappers
- HEATs and VEATs: Peacebringer, Warshade, Soldier, Widow
- Build Sharing/Critique
AT specific guides would go in the correct role type/playstyle forum
We would like to hear your suggestions for other forums which may be ripe for pruning.
Thanks!

Edited to add: of course, my preference would be to retain the AT-specific forums, as others have posted. -
The Major's an incarnate of Hades/Pluto. He has a void judgement and purple-tinted rebirth, to represent the flames of the Underworld. Of course, he doesn't get all caught up in (what he considers) the mythological claptrap of incarnate powers: he just sees them as more tools to get the job done.

Quote:I definitely agree. When you're typing speech bubbles for your character, you're typing the words as other characters would hear them said, not necessarily how they would see them written. Now, in-character emails are an entirely different matter: there, I say break out all the archaic spellings your heart desires. Not only were Olde English spelling's different...but so was the accent. I think you would have more success if you just typed phonetically.
Edit: (Probably goes without saying, but just to be clear ...) The above applies to situations where you're trying to convey a different accent/pronunciation from what the reader would normally assume -- I'm not suggesting everyone should type phonetically all the time. -

Yes, but the "When" section of the table only lists the times, not the date (which is mentioned in the section above the table). I believe he was just suggesting that consolidating the information would be helpful.

First of all, welcome back! Secondly, while I'll leave it to others to suggest some good, active SGs, I will say that you're always welcome to look me up in-game (@Major James Ashe) when you hit those "I want to smash things, but not by myself" moments. I'm on far too often, and have alts in just about every level range.

There is a phrase which, while complimentary on its surface, has been used in recent years as a tool of derision. In an effort to restore it to its proper place, allow me to say to you, without a hint of sarcasm:
Cool story, bro. -

It all makes sense now: Null is the mysterious letter writer!

I've been wanting to participate in something like this ever since we got the walk power, so sign me up! Personally, I think Steel Canyon would be great for a parade, since it has nice straight routes.

This is a great question, and one I've been trying to answer for three days now. Narrowing all my favorites down to one definitive answer is a real challenge, especially since (as Heroid points out) characters change so much from writer to writer. I think, though, that I can (maybe possibly kinda-sorta) finally say my "gun to the head" choice for favorite superhero is the Hulk -- the gentle giant, "Hulk just wants to be left alone!" Hulk I grew up with in the 70s.
(For supervillain, there's still too much internal debate going on. I'll edit this if I can ever come to a decision.) -

Heya, Zen. You'll want to check out this post for all the relevant info (assuming it's still current): http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=187293

How about DP/Kinetics? Kinetics seems like it would really work for probability manipulation: bad luck for enemies, good luck for allies.

It's hard to pick a single favorite moment, but back before GMs scaled, it was always a blast to go to Perez, Boomtown, and DA with a high-level character and ask in broadcast "who wants the badge for Kraken/Babbage/Adamastor? I'm bored, and he's asking for a beating."
Oh, and the 2004 Halloween event, with multiple Eochais bunching up, was definitely a highpoint.

Either that, or fillet of Cole.

I'd definitely be interested in some Shadow Shard TFs tonight (and the rest of the weekend, too). I've been itching to get them off my "6+ years, and I still haven't done ..." list. If that doesn't pan out, I'm up for any of the trials (respec, abandoned sewers, etc.), as they're all on the list, too.
What time were you looking to start? I'm available pretty much anytime from 7 PM-3 AM Eastern Time. Oh, and I'd be bringing my namesake/avatar, level 50 Invulnerability/Super Strength tanker. -
Quote:That's pretty much my reasoning, too. Soloing, it's the joy of wading into the enemy yelling, "come on! I'll take you all on!" In teams, it's that moment when you stand at a bottleneck, facing damn near the whole Rikti invasion force, and tell them, "to get to my friends, you've got to go through me."For me, it still is about feeling super. In fact, it's about feeling outright awesome. I've termed myself an "aggroholic," though I doubt I'm the first person to think of that term. I'm always actively seeking larger groups of stronger enemies. If I don't have to keep a finger on my Dark Regeneration bind, what we're fighting isn't tough enough. It makes me feel awesome to know that what I'm up against should be able to kill me, but can't.
That's not all of it, though. By being able to keep all that attention, I'm letting an entire team of people be awesome. Everyone can go full bore with their attacks and not worry about return fire. That makes me feel awesome. -
(Sorry if this has already been mentioned -- I skimmed through the thread and didn't see it.)
With the game now being able to produce mirror images of our characters (for the Issue 17 arcs), is there any chance of getting an option to have the Phantom Army and Phantasm powers create spectral copies of the character, rather than the "generic" models? I'd love to be able to pull out the old "how can you beat me if you can't find the real me?" line. -
