Convention season just keeps rolling along...and we're rollin' with it!

City of Heroes® is thrilled to be representing at the Penny Arcade Expo again this year in Seattle, Washington. PAX 2009, a three-day game festival featuring tabletop, videogame, and PC gamers will be taking place September 4-6th at the Washington State Convention & Trade Center. CoH will be there in style, so if you're going to the event, we want to see you!

Come by Booth #542 and pay us a visit. Once again, you'll be able to meet in person members of the City of Heroes Development and Online Community Relations teams. Our Design Team, represented by Matt "Positron" Miller, Joe "Hero 1" Morrissey and Bruce "Horatio" Harlick will be available in full force to discuss with you and answer questions about the Mission Architect System and the upcoming Issue 16: Power Spectrum content update. If you haven't tried Powers Customization out for yourself yet, you're definitely going to want to grab a mouse and keyboard at the booth and give it a whirl!

Also making a re-appearance will be the lovely Ms. Liberty, who will be available and ready to pose for your picture-taking pleasure. She wants YOU to come take a photo with her!

After you take your picture, make sure to get a blinking "Awesome" button and a PAX exclusive "Carnival of Shadows Ring Mistress" Costume Power Code! (One per person only and you MUST be a current active subscriber).

The fun activities don't end there! On Saturday, September 5th we're throwing a great panel discussion on Mission Architect and joining us will be Joel Heyman from Rooster Teeth and Scott Kurtz of PVP Online fame, so don't forget to attend and show your support. Here are the details:

Saturday, Sept. 5th, 2:30pm - 3:30pm Raven Theatre

Mission Architect: A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Story

City of Heroes Mission Architect lets users generate their own content. It launched in April and over 250,000 stories have been created by players. The Paragon Studios developers are back to share their experiences with you, the PAXers! What went well? What problems arose? How has this affected the way customers play City of Heroes? We'll look at the good, the bad, the ugly, and the future of City of Heroes Mission Architect.

Panelists:
  • Joe "Hero 1" Morrissey (Senior Game Designer)
  • C.W. "pohsyb" Bennett (Senior Engineer)
  • Ross Borden (Global Marketing Director)
  • Joel Heyman (Rooster Teeth™)
  • Scott Kurtz (PVP Online™)

The panel isn't the only thing you're NOT going to want to miss...

The Online Community Relations Team is hosting a Meet and Greet!

Please join us on Saturday, September 5th from 6pm to 1am at the Elephant and Castle Pub and Restaurant (in the Red Lion Hotel) located at 1415 5th Ave. The festivities will take place in the Billiards Room and all you need to do is tell the hostess that you're there for the City of Heroes 'Meet and Greet' and you'll be pointed in the right direction. So please come by for a fun time hanging out with your favorite community and dev team members!

We can't wait to see you at PAX 2009!

Don't forget to follow the Community (OCR) Team on Twitter during PAX. They'll be Tweeting away!

Um...why is Kurtz on the panel?

There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.

I look forward to seeing the CoX folks there. It's always a grand time talking with the players, Dev's, and Community Relations Team.

Also, it's great that the Online Community Relations Team is hosting the Meet & Greet this year. I had a lot of fun at last year's M&G. The Billiards Room isn't quite as large of a space as we had last year, but it's a little bit more "group oriented" type of room.

Well, I just crunched the numbers to get there from Chicago. Outside of selling one of my 3 remaining kidneys (and I'm pretty sure that's the bare minimum I need to operate my 2 spleens), there's no way I can get there.

Any chance you guys might start doing GenCon Indy again? Or, alternatively, host a "Let's Fly Ascendant to the West Coast"-type fundraiser?

Ascendant
Now, more than ever, Paragon City needs heroes. Do your part to save it.

I am so there. CoH is darn near the only reason I'm getting tickets to PAX this year. :x

To quote a certain power-armored guardian of truth and justice in Paragon City:

It's on like Donkey Kong!

Official Announcement. The announcement this year does NOT mention tickets. Maybe Niviene will want to confirm, but it appears on the face of it that anyone who stops by is welcome. Dare we hope that Ms. Liberty will drop by for a photo op? She might need that Flying Crane Kick...

While I have absolutely no insider knowledge of Paragon Studios and their plans or commitments, we do know that Matt "Positron" Miller, Joe "Hero 1" Morrissey, C.W. "pohsyb" Bennett, and I believe even Bruce "Horatio" Harlick will be at PAX. The Community Relations team should be organizing things, so I'd expect that Niviene and one or more of her cohorts should also be in attendance. Whether any or all of them attend the Meet and Greet will probably depend on their schedules and families and what not.

Cende brought her world-famous cookies last year, and amongst other entertainments, there was a marriage proposal. Also, proof that not all gurlz are G.I.R.L.s.

I will try and be there, pending permission from the spousal unit. (She has this idea that PAX might be a place to pick up chicks... never mind that my age is.. well, just never mind...)

Is there any interest in trying out the CCG? Granted it's pretty much dead nowadays, but still interesting, especially since pretty much all of the Vanguard came from the CCG. I could bring my cards for people to experiment with if people feel like it.

I recommend attending the meet and greet. When everyone has at least one thing in common, the ice is already broken. CoH itself is a built-in conversation starter. It's also a chance to meet the people who make this game and talk to them one-on-one, or at least one-on-few. A rare opportunity. Last year I remember talking to BaBs about his animation work and Hero 1 about the (at the time) upcoming Mission Architect and the work that led up to it. They're generally tight-lipped about unreleased content, but if there's anything to hear about I-16 or Going Rogue, this will be the place to hear it...

Because he's a CoH fan. He did a comic strip for a time in the CoH comic books, featuring the PvP characters as their CoH avatars.

I assume because Kurtz's PvP and CoH have been linked together before both in the comic (with several short runs of PvP being set with the character playign CoH) and in the promotion of the game with the PvP tie-in in the DVD Collector's edition.

I'm on that ish like white on rice.

Heck, I am contemplating driving my own car vs riding with the beau, cos he needs to go home early for work the next morning, and I am more than interested in staying all night long!

Incidentally, I am trying to figure out how to get one of Agge's arts made into a t-shirt for cheap. Any Seattloids know a place that won't charge an arm and a leg for a one-off t-shirt? Everywhere I've talked to wants to charge me like $40 for one shirt! GAH! I'd rather draw on a blank tee with Crayola markers!

If your mouse has greater processing power than your gfx card, the answer is yes.

You know that as-to-now unused Special Guest Author Option in the AE?

I was hoping it'd be announced that the Penny Arcade guys had done a special AE mission, but Kurtz is a fine choice as well. An AE mission with fart jokes.

The Elephant and Castle is a bit small and stuffy, but hopefully it will work ok.

My husband and I will be at PAX this year to meet everyone yet again. Looking forward to it.

Yo, Pez. Yeah, if Kurtz was announcing he was writing for the AE, that'd rock. LOLbat all the way.

And throw my wooden nickel out there as another "waaaaaahhhhh east coast waaaaahhhh" request.

PAX East Coast is 2010. Start pushing for that. As it is I'll be at PAX '09, so I can act as a DumpleBerry proxy for info, questions, etc...

The real sticky wicket is that Bumbershoot, the big Seattle arts festival, is also happening that weekend and Sheryl Crow is the headliner on Saturday night.

Life's full of tough choices, i'nt it? Jason Mraz is headlining Sunday, so maybe that will make up for missing Sheryl...

Why not just buy a tee-shirt transfer at Staples and print your own? Granted it won't last as long as silk-screening, but how often are you going to wear and wash it anyway?
