adding Blaze Mastery for Scrappers.
!!!

Finally! A new choice for scrappers! (even though I like the three we currently have, I have one headed up that none of the current options is right for, concept-wise).

Blaze mastery for scrappers? No waaaaaay.

Also really interested by the patron/ancillary pool extra powers.

Sounds nice. Still hoping that defenders will some day get Cold Mastery to fit Cold Domination/Ice Blast that they got in the first round of proliferation (when scrappers got their firey melee/firey aura) though.

I can't help but wish that /earth assault had the earth embrace power (from the controller ancillary) instead of power build up. That way, the set would possess a different feel from other assault sets.

My Fire/Shield scrapper is lvl 40, so I do like Blaze mastery coming along.

VERY happy to hear about Blaze Mastery for Scrapper. My BS/DA will probably respec into it.

I think so too, BUT this means that they can potentially get it with an earth mastery pool.

A game is not supposed to be some kind of... place where people enjoy themselves!

I remember asking Castle (via PM) whether or not new Ancillary sets were being considered shortly after the first round of proliferation; he told me (I'm paraphrasing) that I shouldn't hold my breath. Glad to see it finally happened, though! Also, I wish we could've gotten more information on Traps. Specifically: Whether Defenders will get a new set of "pets" for the Traps set or they will be using the Corruptor pets.

Wouldn't count on an AoE immob. It's way too freakin' cool on Brutes for use with Burn.

Fireball damage is nice. But, it isn't aoe-immob + burn nice.

I don't understand why Brutes and Stalkers are denied what is clearly considered an improvement to the Electric Armor set. Castle even refers to their lack of this as being "unfortunate".

I believe that they're just missing out on the change in tier of the power, not the change itself.

Really hoping VEATs aren't left out with the patron power additions like they were last time.

The only thing I can think of is that they can't reorder a powerset that has already "gone live". If they swapped the powers then after I16 went live you'd have LR turn into Energize slotted like LR or some variation thereof.

To be honest I'd be more than happy to burn a respec when I16 hits. I'd have to do one anyways because I want to see if Energize make a real difference in the set performance. My current Fire/Electric brute needed a lot of specialization in order to be competent against anything other than Energy damage.

It's probably a design no-no to shuffle the order of powers unless absolutely necessary (though I feel like they have done it before... can't think of a for-instance though). Since no ELA scrappers or tankers exist yet, it's no problem, but changing the order of powers for existing characters is probably a real pain.

Memory check...

I noticed in the screenshots from that article that the villain (assuming it's a villain) with claws in one of the shots has his claws coming out from between his fingers, instead of being attached to the top like I remember Claws being.

Have I just forgotten this option? Or is this a new visual style for Claws?

They did this some time ago with tanks. It was determined that Taunt at LV 4 was pretty harsh for low level tanks, so they switched the level 4 taunt with the level 10 third attack. I viewed this change as greatly increasing the suviveablity of the set very early in the tanker career. Taunt really was available much too early before armors could be developed and killing things solo was a complete pita (this was before vet rewards/origin powers).

I think this was before CoV came out, but I honestly can't remember. I am sure someone will come in with the exact patch and the notes for it in the next few posts.

Ugh, this Energize reordering thing strikes me as unfair. While it may be a technical difficulty, it's just unacceptable to realize that the power is needed earlier and just leave it be for the redside archetypes. Just because its easier to implement it with the creation of a "new" powerset doesn't justify slighting the players who have had to deal with the pre buffed set for so long.

Tell that to the SR brutes with Evasion at level 20 instead of 35.
