Dark Horse:

Empowered +1 - I've only read the first volume and I have to say...why was I not informed about this title before? Pretty damn funny, but it is fairly...adult...in terms of material (the superheroine spends quite a bit of time tied up and ball-gagged w/her supersuit in tatters). It's a far better, IMO, deconstruction of what superheroes go through than Watchmen could ever hope to be. In a way, I'd liken it to a more cartoon-y, more risque version of Common Grounds. I definitely think I'll be getting (for some reason, I managed to write "tweeting" there as opposed to "getting"...no idea how the heck that happened) the rest of the available volumes.

Batman: RIP -1
Just was plain out and out too confusing for me. Definite waste of money, IMO.

Batman: The Dark Knight Returns +1
X-Men: Dark Phoenix Saga +1
Watchmen TBP +1

+1 for Trinity Vol. 1 and Superman: Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow (can't believe someone would -1 this Alan Moore classic)

Throw on another +1 for Empowered (again). Just finished vol. 6 and I wish vol. 7 was out already. I really really dig that series.

Just wanted to point out that it seems InStockTrades.com has moved back to the top spot of my online recommendations for TPB retailers. Not too long ago Amazon had better discounts but it looks like IST has responded by lowering their prices again.

Hoping to update this again soon. I've actually been snagging a lot of stories that I've been meaning to read for a long time. My most recent read was the latest Invincible Ultimate Collection. That series really grew on me.

Gotta say, for anyone who can get the Judge Dredd Megazine ((£5.49 in UK)), pick up #316! New series - American Reaper - launches with a full THIRTY TWO pages - most of them double pages - by Clint Langley. In this title he becomes a serious threat to Alex Ross's mantle. Story's good too.

2000AD and Judge Dredd Megazine, two excellent books.

Coming soon to the Megazine. A new case for Brit-Cit Detective Judge Armitage. "The Underground." Guest starring Judge Dredd. The two finally meet in canon.

Just going to have +1 the entire NGE: Shinji Ikari Raising Project line. You know how dark and depressing the NGE anime is? Well, this is the exact opposite of that.

Gendo being a helicopter parent who actually cares about his kid rather than an all-around d-bag? Yui being a mother rather than goo? Misato and Kaji being adversarial teachers? Asuka's mother not being dead?

It's pretty dang funny in places.

I haven't posted recommendations in here yet?

Well I guess I have to fix that.
Go get Empowered, by Adam Warren, and read it. NOW!
Along with that I have the almost-complete initial run of the Exiles, which was fantastic, and The full and complete collection of the comic Sojourn, which I'd recommend to anyone (but you can't borrow mine!), I have Identity Crisis, which was great but depressing, and Gotham Central, which was beautiful and awesome and just as depressing, and 52, which was awesome and made up for them both! (I love happy endings!)

I also have the complete collection of Knights of the Old Republic, which is a fantastic story about a Jedi betrayed by his masters, and his Jedi abilities manifest as if they were nothing more than luck, which although it sounds terrible it makes for an amazing series.

In more recent news, I was heartily impressed with the new 52 (at least some of it) and I think you should check out "DC Universe Presents: Deadman", "Voodoo" (but skip the awful first issue to save yourself some cash), and then the following in no particular order:
Birds of Prey,
Batwoman (best art out of all of them so far),
Wonder Woman (even though I don't like the changes to her origin),
Huntress (a limited series, not technically part of the new 52),
Penguin (same, but it fits within the confines of the new 52 universe, while Huntress is Earth-2),
Action Comics,
Detective Comics,
Batman,
Batgirl,
Suicide Squad (though I detest the change to Amanda Waller like every other human being with a heartbeat),
The Ray (this is a true breakout hit, the character is phenomenal and the series is very short),
Blue Beetle (yes, I still miss Ted Kord too),
Justice League,
Aquaman (if you get nothing else on this list get this, the writing, the plot, everything is fantastic. And when Mera gets pissed, MAN she makes Aquaman look meager by comparison. They took the "Aquaman is the weakest superhero" trope and ran with it to create a really likeable character out of him. Everything you could ask out of a comic book is here.)

Also on the recent Marvel side, I recommend Wolverine and the X-Men (a.k.a. "Team logan") for its lighthearted and very funny nature.
spoiler: Krakoa (the living island) becomes one of the X-Men! And it's awesome!

you could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you <3

Adding onto the previous

Incorruptible vol 2-5 +1
Irredeemable vol 3-5 +1

In my personal opinion, Incorruptible is the better of the two, but they're both damned good.

Also, as an aside, the end of Irredeemable Vol 5 is pretty much in sync with Incorruptible Vol 4 as far as events go.

Just finished Tokyopop's Starcraft: Ghost Academy and it was pretty good. It featured Nova from the cancelled Starcraft: Ghost game. It's only three volumes, so pretty short.

I've been out of ye olde comics for, oh, over 20 years so this thread is kinda nice. Always had a soft spot for them. I'll have to take a look at some of these suggestions.

Has anyone read KADE from ARCANA Studios? It was strongly recommended and was wondering what you all thought of it.
