New boards format sucks

Sorry, but I am not sure where to post this.

Dev's, the new boards look pretty, but they suck. I hate them. Please revert to old format. I like the old ones as I can scroll through them quicker and easier. With this one, I need to know where I am looking. This was a huge mistake you can still rectify. Issue 15 was lame, but the boards reformatting sucks even more. At this point, it may be worth leaving things alone in fact for the whole game. You are only making things worse.

I feel your pain. There is indeed a navigation problem with the home page: it's all bare links with little to tell us what we're clicking on. (The fact that you've posted this on the wrong board may actually support your argument.)

But if vBulletin can be configured to add descriptive text beneath each link on the home page--and from the look of the sub-pages, it can--just have hyperlinks to each set of sub-boards embedded right in the descriptive text, and there's no need to go back to the old app. Even without hyperlinks straight to the sub-boards, descriptive text will go a long way to improving the home page.

I have to admit, initially I was unimpressed. To tell the truth I found navigation was difficult at first (basically due to the reasons the above poster had pointed out), but it quickly became less of a problem.

I'm not one of those forum guru's so I rarely know the in's and out's of forum types, but I'm getting used to this type, and I am starting to enjoy it as much as I did the old. City of Heroes is my most active forums I have been on for any MMO ( and in 5 years I still have under 300 posts ).

The new format will take some time for many to get used too, but It IMO adds some powerful utilities and perks that I weren't available on the old forums.

Overall, I am happier with it than the old, but it can still use a bit more tweaking I'm sure.

In case you havent found out, clicking (and bookmarking) the word english on the main screen will get a page much like the board of old.

Seems like the page requires more resources, not as *snappy* as the old page. Love the Search feature though.

I very much enjoy the look of the new forums, and since I bookmarked the "english" page the setup is pretty much as it was for me. I also had to disable my ability to see images because I found the signature pictures to be annoying. That done, I have no major complaints.

On second thought, let's keep the forum's new top page. It gives me nice flashbacks to 1994. Ah, the good old days. Wonder if I can find my 2400 baud high speed modem.

Once you start really digging into the perks of the new board system, it really isn't so bad.

My only complaint is when I click Dev's Digest, all I see is html codes and none of the dev has posted anything new since July 28?

I thought the forum loads faster now especially after I click submit.

The foreign language option is pretty good too if you want to chat in your own language and not just English.

Overall, I like it. It just takes time to learn the new things that's all. (just fix the html codes in dev's digest!)

I must admit, I wasn't so happy with the new boards either...
...until I found the feature that shows edited posts and what was edited a la wikis.

Miah interest and appreciation thusly increased to "bow shikka bow wow."

At first, it took some getting used to. Now, it's more alike than different from the old one. AND... you get PICTURES NOW!!!!! YAY!!!!

Thanks for the tip about clicking English. Problem solved and now I change my tune. The new boards is easier to navigate now.

I'll reaffirm that the new boards are growing on me, but I do understand some resistance to the new format after having the old for so long. Change, however, is inevitable and these changes are not THAT bad.

I'd say give it some time, if, after a few months, you don't like them (or the devs get mean and give us the old forums for a time to show us how we have grown into the new) then I say you can complain. Complaining out of the gate shows you didn't give them enough time to get settled in and for you to start using them more.

What I miss is the old skins. This kinda green, kinda grey background doesn't do anything to me. I want mah blueness back!

Check out Zombie_Man's guide in the Player Guides forum for his "Zombie Skin" mod. It comes pretty close to the old hero/villain themes we used to have.

My only complaint is that none of the links to player guides work now.

It's going to take getting used to. I'd rather have the blue background back. I hate that now we have to put up with player's picture banners. I feel like I'm in a Walmart being blasted with advertising instead of a hobby game forum.

Also, has any one been able to read the Dev Digests? It hasn't worked for me since the change.

I just miss the option to see the entirety of a thread on a single page, regardless of thread length.

What's been aggrevating me about the new boards are the quick reply function not workingfor some God foresaken reason and the fact that ANY of the guides previously posted before the migration took place no longer function which means if I wanted to look at the MM keybind guide i'm not able to due to the migration.I've checked a ton of guide links and NONE of them work...period which for me anyway is a big issue since I am constantly viewing and comparing my builds to the sample builds others post to see if I can draw some inspiration.

Overall I do like the new look of the forums but not at the cost of half the links posted pre-migration seemed to have never moved.

If the Devs can fix these two issues I would be very much thankful for it sin ce i've noticed that before the switch I had the forums page set as one of my stationary tabs using FireFox ,but now I only ocasinally come here and have long since closed my tab due to the seemingly daunting task of finding a guide link that still works.

Update: I figured out what I was doing wrong for the Quick Reply.I'm still irritated that I ave to specify someone just to use the QR function.
