Quote:Yeah, I have. The only reason why i asked, is that because "unofficial" drivers are unsigned, they don't always get picked up by programs (even though the program DOES support the hardware).
Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling the drivers at all?
Here's what goes on in summary:
I have card ATI X1650 game works.
bought new card ATI HD 4650 game works.
installed new NCSoft Launcher when it becomes available game works.
decide to return new card ATI 4650 because it starts to malfunction.
reinstalled ATI X1650 (yes, I always remove/install drivers when swapping cards) game now crashes on startup.
The crash occurs after the game detects to older card. I swapped the cards 3 times, and each time the game will work with the newer card(ATI HD 4650), and crash with the older one(ATI X1650).
Although beforehand the older card (ATI X1650 ) worked fine. -
Quote:Nope I get my drivers always from official site, plus it ran fine before I installed the NCSoft Launcher. So i'm not under the belief that the old drivers just failed all of a sudden.Strangely/Stupidly enough, your graphics card is above the 8500 though.
You arent running "Non official" drivers though are you?
Quote:Do you still have the "old" updater available? Does it error when you launch through there? The OP is somewhat vague with "even after uninstalling the launcher", and not mentioning whether you meant "reinstalling the new launcher" or "uninstalling and going back to the old updater".
Working with tech to see if we can resolve it, thanks for your inputs. -
I will go through the links provided, but I'll provide some more insight on my problem.
The NCSoft Launcher starts correctly, and then the game goes to launching. Once that happens a grey box pops up with the following message:
[Detected video card or driver is currently unsupported Radeon X1650 Series.
The game may run poorly or not at all with you current configuration.
Current system requirements are NVidia GeForce 2 or better, ATI Radeon 8500 or better, or an Intell GMA 900 or better.]
Once I receive that message the game continues as if it is loading, but then it crashes providing me with bug reporting prompt.
Again this only started after I had installed the NCSoft Launcher ( even though it may not be the cause it show how seems to be a catalyst ).
I run:
OS Windows Vista 32bit service pack 2
.Net Framework 4.0
Direct X 10.0 -
Ever since I installed the NCSoft Launcher, I have been unable to start game due to having outdated video drivers. My card's drivers have been legacied so I can't get any updated drivers than current ones.
However I did not have a problem running the game prior to install of NCSoft Launcher.
ATI Radeon X1650 series 512mb PCIe
Legacy 10.2 drivers
3 gb ram
Pentium 3.0 Dual Core
ran just fine prior to installing NCSoft Launcher, can't play now even after uninstalling the launcher. -
Quote:However he does mention a damage aura, so it would lead one to believe he is referring to Storm: Tornado as oppose to Psi Mastery: Tornado.Tornado from Storm summoning has a 7 foot radius. The 20feet value is the mag 10 afraid that tornado causes.:

edit: Although it occurs to me having posted that you may have meant Psionic Tornado from the Psionic Mastery, which does indeed have a radius of 20 feet. -
Trick Shot or Ballistics
Basically allowing all the ranged weapons use the powers with the primary weapon. Assault Rifle, Dual Pistols, and even Robotics weaponry can be animated to fire Trick Arrow's powers.
A few new animations for some powers to maintain the feel of the primary weapon (i.e. Dual Pistols ).
Examples:
Ice Shot (Arrow) on Assault Rifle would use the Cyro Thrower animation that the Crey dudes use.
Some attacks can utilize the grenade motion, but in all just allow for a more in sync feel with powers.....using a gun, then breaking out with some arrows just always seemed odd to me.
Anyways, it's probably been brought up before....yet I just wanted to bring it to the table again since I couldn't find it in the archives if it was brought up -
Quote:They weren't my comparisons, but they were well enough to use for point to point as powers that work similar in the fact they have a pulsing effect. Yet anyway....EQ isn't a hold.So sub-par to Spectral Terror, which is good, and Earthquake which is arguably the best AoE hold available to controllers? Your comparisons are far off base. Yes, it's mechanical function is similar to Earthquake and its result is similar to Spectral Terror. However, I think you need to look at it in the context of a.) Sleeps and b.) controls that become available at level 12.
As AoE sleeps go, it's the bees' knees. Certainly better than Spore Burst, Salt Crystals, or Flash Freeze. The only Sleep that comes near it is Mass Hypnosis for its aggro free nature.
As the level 12 control, perhaps it doesn't provide the hard control of Flash Fire or Stalagmites, but it's certainly on par with Ice Slick, and easily beats out Telekinesis, Spirit Tree, and Dimension Shift. It has strategic value for cutting off ambushes out of LoS and provides an ally buff along side an enemy debuff.
Quote:Here you argue that SF isn't very useful because the enemy won't remain asleep, but with the next paragraph argue that the -recharge (25%, I believe was the value reported in beta) isn't useful because things go back to sleep. To me, the power is obviously layered to provide mitigation even in adverse situations. Maybe that's a glass half full/glass half empty thing.
Quote:I'm playing Elec/rad as well. I find it indispensable solo, and highly useful on teams. To me, Electric feels like a generally weak set, but this power is certainly one of the things that props it up a bit. -
Static Field is subpar sorry to disagree with people, but my nature is to be the counterpoint guy. In solo/duo play it has merit, but once group play comes with all of it's AOE goodness, even Gremmies with their damage aura makes it inept.
Compared to ST, and EQ...based sole on the fact it's a pulse effect is fair enough. Yet both ST/EQ those offer further mitigation by debuffing to-hit , and also -def in the case of EQ.
True it sets up containment, but most APP(if you are waiting this long for the power to have actual damage boosting implimentation) powers have DoTs associated with them with a couple exceptions, which would render the sleep ineffectual and again the gremmies at this time would also damage surrounding enemies.
SF has a slowing component which if they fall back to sleep in the next pulse seems wasted effect (of course no numbers on the effect either, and don't think it's enhanceable). The +end component for allies may be the best effect, but without access to any numbers may prove to be a non-factor...
This power isn't all that great....of course this is IMHO. I'm sure there are those of you that disagree.
I'm playing Elec/Rad in case you were wondering.... -
There is nothing awesome about a pulsing sleep......
-
Since you using Ice Mastery, you might wanna swap out Ice Blast or Ice Breath for Hibernate...
Hibernate: Heals, makes you invulnerable for 30secs, recovers endurance, and with enough recharge can be available every 2-2.5 mins ( which is better than consume with no accuracy/mob check ) of course it can take u about 10secs to replenish if you don't have heal/end recovery slotted in it.
But Hibernate kicks booty! -
So sorry I missed out, but the truth is I'm absent minded and forgot...glad you guys still managed,
-
You should add me as well, Ag'ro Vader Level 50 Ice/Dark Melee
-
I'm not sure what everyone else is playing, but the aggro cap seems to allow some mobs to peel off you. I have taunt/CE/Icicles, and use them all although in smaller mobs (6players or below) I rarely use taunt.
-
I'm just saying Frost should be a PBAoE.....
-
I don't believe you can slot Perfect Zinger....or at least I've never tried. I do however have 4 slotted Eradication (including the proc), and the damage procs from Scirocco's and Obliteration.
and yes they all can fire off. -
Take Icicles slot it for damage, and with some damage procs, and call it a day.

Quote:My idea was behind the fact Dark Miasma would not be ported, but they inturn would make a Dark Control set featuring what was available currently ingame. I understand though what you mean by Dark Servant wouldn't make a good pet, and I had an idea that it wouldn't contribute much damage until I thought about Singularity/Fly Trap, thus distracting me from posting my own pet idea lol.Dark Servant wouldn't make a good primary pet; it would stack way too much with a Dark Servant from a Dark secondary on one hand (which is where Dark Servant belongs), and not contribute to damage on the other. You want something focused more on damage than debuffs; I'd have a power that summons some new pet(s) with a name like "Darkspawn". Heavy negative energy damage but much lower in debuffs than Dark servant.
So a high level Dark/Dark controller in my scheme would for pets have a Dark Servant and one or more Darkspawn.
My own idea for a pet with Dark Control would go as follows:
Shadow Minion(Darkspawn if you like).
Summon Shadow: Melee Moderate DMG(Negative)
Attacks:
Tenebrous Tentacles (or Midnight Grasp)
Smite
Shadow Punch
Resists:
Slash/Lethal
Negative
Toxic
Psionic
Not posting numbers, but I'm sure people can get the jist of it being scrapperish/dom-like, maybe being able to summon 2 would be great (of course TT would be so spammed if that was a power choice for them). -
Quote:lol I was nearly gunna post the same thing earlier...well only as far as Dark Control was concerned, since I don't see a Dark Miasma remake for controllers. Yet I wouldn't remove damage from TT as it would be the source of your containment damage. Using your setup, and what I would change..Yeah, we'd need all new powersets basically that are dark themed so that while effects could overlap, you wouldn't get overlap of the exact same power. It'd require mixing, matching, and making new powers.
Here's what I see happening... (Note: N means a "new power" i imagined, though it's probably based off an existing power. R stands for "Repurposed", that is, an existing power with something added or taken away to better fit the general theme of Controller power progression. O is an original power from an existing Dark powerset that's remained untouched. Note that moving a power from Miasma or Blast and putting it into the Control or Manipulation category is not considered "re-purposing", even though technically it is)
Dark Control:
* Dark Ensnarement: ST immob, minor DoT, -ToHit (N)
* Instill Fear: ST Fear, moderate damage, -ToHit (N)
* Dark Gaze: ST Hold, minor damage (N)
* Tenebrous Tentacles: AoE Immob, -ToHit (R- removed damage)
* Dark Cage: ST Intangible (N)
* Fearsome Stare: AoE Cone fear, minor damage, -ToHit (R- added damage)
* Ominous Vortex: AoE Hold, standard AoE hold stats (N)
* Dark Pit: AoE Stun, minor damage (R- added damage)
* Dark Servant: Pet (O)
Dark Manipulation:
* Twilight Grasp: ST Foe -ToHit, -Dam, -Regen; team Heal (O)
* Tar Patch: Location AoE, foe -fly, -jump, -run, -res (O)
* Darkest Night: AoE Foe -Dam, -ToHit (O)
* Howling Twilight: AoE stun, -run, -dam, -recharge, minor damage; Ally Rez (O)
* Shadow Fall: PBAoE Team Stealth, +Def (all), +Res (En, Neg En, Psi, fear) (O)
* Torrent: Cone AoE KB, minor damage, -ToHit (O)
* Dark exchange: Self damage (30% of HP, unrecoverable for 30 seconds), Target ally -15 Mag vs Hold, Stun, Disorient, Sleep, Fear, Confuse and TP Foe; +15% res vs Energy, Dark, and Psi for 2 minutes. Recharge: 150 seconds (2 and a half minutes) (N)
* Petrifying Gaze: Toggle, ST Hold (R- made into a toggle so that, as a controller, it isn't AS easy to stack holds.)
* Black Hole: AoE Foe Intangible (O)
That's my 2 Inf anyway. *shrug*
Dark Control:
* Midnight Grasp: ST immob, minor DoT, -ToHit (N)
* Petrifying Gaze: ST Hold, minor damage (N)
* Tenebrous Tentacles: Ranged AoE Immob, -ToHit
* Tar Patch: Location AoE, foe -fly, -jump, -run, -res
* Shadow Fall: PBAoE Team Stealth, +Def (all), +Res (En, Neg En, Psi, fear)
* Fearsome Stare: AoE Cone fear, minor damage, -ToHit (R- added damage)
* Ominous Vortex/Abysmal Maw(my name for it): AoE Hold, standard AoE hold stats (N)
* Dark Serenade: AoE Sleep, minor damage, -ToHit
* Dark Servant: Pet (O)
Something like that would work with just the powers available already in the game....save the AoE hold...and I don't think they could have both a stun/fear in same set as that would probably prove way overpowering for a controller. -
I see you have few procs in your build, but no Gravitational Anchor proc, although i'm sure someone will come up with a reason as to why it isn't mandatory.....but a chance to hold is still a chance to hold.
Changing your immobilize to a hold even just by chance is a awesome deal to me.
I would critique the rest, but I guess you might be trying some "concept" build or something so I won't say you are doing anything wrong. -
DS/Dark here....they fit well....pretty much all you can say since everyone already knows about dark powers......
Whip powers are bit on the heavy side of end to take em all...so I don't see more than 1 maybe 2, but alas I am still a wee lil demon summna so times will tell. -
Well after playing Demon Summoning, Whips doesn't seem to be a far off leap for an assault set.....probably would need to tone down the damage for Doms, but seems doable.
Seriously to think even if it is hard to animate, they had to believe that there would be requests to make it available for other AT's (DP as an example). So they may have animated many more attacks that just the ones released for MM.
One would think...... -
Having a level 50 E/Kin myself, I can say there is much fun to be had with it. Truthfully damage will mostly come from your power pool (I chose stone). Simple put, Stalagmites/Fissure = lots of stunnage.
Fissure(pretty close range) also benefits massively from hold/immobilize containment which earth offers in spades, seismic smash is a great attack(melee), and rock armor + weave handles alot of incoming damage from smash/lethal (BM farm *smirk*).
Add in Fulcrum Shift is all just gravy, still won't be fast as fire/kin. Yet with the other control elements Earth offers(QS, EQ, and VG), I've taken on 2/3 mobs without so much as a care on BM farm. Of course one farm doesn't make your toon a viable build to consider for top choice, but my toon is no more a slouch on any other mission types than any other kinetic toon.
I have 4 rad toons, as I'm a proponent of radiation emission as much as Local Man. Yet I did Earth/Kin pretty much to see it, and I like to say I've inspired many others.
My toon is Seismic Mite on Freedom. -

I don't know why anyone would skip out on HoB on a stormy, FR debuffs resistance also mitigates incoming damage, and makes a perfect spot for HoB to run full animation. I'm sure it does plenty nuff damage to be worth it.
