Static Field
Love it. A great alpha mitigator and spectral terror (credit to LocalMan for the comparison) type power.

Why Blasters? Empathy Sucks.
So, you want to be Mental?
What the hell? Let's buff defenders.
Tactics are for those who do not have a big enough hammer. Wisdom is knowing how big your hammer is.
It also gives endurance to any friendlies that stand in it.
This thing is very good and is definitely functioning better than Spectral Terror so far. Static Field makes me open my mouth in amazement, often.
Anyone playing with this regularly above level 30 yet?

BIOSPARK :: DARKTHORN :: SKYGUARD :: WILDMAGE
HEATSINK :: FASTHAND :: POWERCELL :: RUNESTAFF
That makes sense. It seems more potent than Spectral Terror so far, but perhaps that is because it comes earlier and is being used on lower level enemies. I am very excited to see how it works out post 30.

I noticed last night that since the cages don't have DoT, that Static Field + cages = a ranged hold after one initial attack. Jolting Chain can stop that initial strike I would think, but I may have to try it out solo, as my team was wiping everything out too fast last night.
LOCAL MAN! The most famous hero of all. There are more newspaper stories about me than anyone else. "Local Man wins Medal of Honor." "Local Man opens Animal Shelter." "Local Man Charged with..." (Um, forget about that one.)

To clarify, it's comparison to ST is just that its a pulsing control power that can be broken by an attack, but regained by another pulse. Not a comparison of efficacy.

Of course, a nice thing about Static Field: Sleeps set up Containment while Terrorize powers do not. So, eventually when we get some AoE attacks from the APP set, that Containment should be nice.

Got Static Field last night, and I love it! I almost never take Sleeps, but this one is a must-have.
One question- Conductive Aura supposedly does damage, and according to Parawiki, takes damage enhans, but I was not really noticing much in the way of orange numbers. I bring this up, because if it doesn't do damage, it seems like SF and CA together could let you sleep and sap a mob pretty easily and quickly. Nice Alpha diffuser.

"Dark Armor is a complete waste as a tanking set."
I get the feeling the OP is tip-toeing on saying the power is too powerful and I'm just going to nip that in the bud right now.
The power is more like Earthquake than ST and Earthquake is very good at what it does.
The set is very much like Earth Control in that it's a low damage set that is very good at locking mobs down. It's probably the first set I've actually bothered locking down mobs rather than trying to do damage post-ED.
The power is fine, the set is fine. It's powerful controls are balanced by the fact that the set does almost no damage by itself.
I already ran into one person claiming the set was OP right out the gate and going on and on about an incoming nerf as if there aren't other sets capable of locking everything down. Now I don't know if the OP was going there, but it sure feels like it, so I say play the toon solo, and see if you think it's too powerful.
I haven't really compared numbers or anything but I'm fairly certain this set has the lowest damage of any controller set in the game.

It doesn't do damage (or cost endurance to run) any more.

I suspect that Ice has lower damage. Earth is probably pretty comparable.
Comparing damage in the Elec vs. Ice sets: Single target Immob, single target hold, AoE Immob, AoE Hold are all the same. PB AoE aura does no damage in either set, but Arctic Air does confuse, adding some minimal damage. Control patch (Ice Slick vs Static Field), no damage. Elec has the ranged chaining confuse vs Ice's ranged Slow cone (assume the confuses cancel each other out, but I'm pretty sure that Elec's confuse will result in more damage). Then you have Jolting Chain (some damage) vs. Flash Freeze (does some damage, but nobody takes it), so Elec wins here. Finally, I think the two Gremlins do more damage than Jack Frost.

It dropped it, get enough -end from other powers... but if I had 1 more space it's a nice addition.. slot for -end not sleep and maybe pop in the placate proc

Not as damaging but Power Sink will be a great power to synergise, and I have Transference.
IO'd already too.

The main reason I compared it to Spooky over EQ was that EQ foes can sometimes, on their own, stand up and take a shot at you. That does not seem to be true with Spooky or Static Field.

You can still be hit with SF up though, I've been on the receiving end of some angry boss punches, and random minion/lieut shots while SF was active.
I think my other post got lost in the fact that nerf herders are already screaming "NERF IT" and I'd hate to see this set get nerfed because a set that offers a ton of damage can't lock down as well as a set that doesn't.
Any word on the amount of +end your teammates (and I assume, you) get from this? I saw in mids in the power description that teammates get +end, but Mids didn't have any numbers.
Is it based on the # of mobs that are caught in the field, or is it a straight amount regardless?
Thanks!
Loving the power but not a fan of the graphic. This entire set seems to have really loud graphics. I made the mistake of pairing it with radiation emission and I can't see much of anything on the screen now lol
Static Field is subpar sorry to disagree with people, but my nature is to be the counterpoint guy. In solo/duo play it has merit, but once group play comes with all of it's AOE goodness, even Gremmies with their damage aura makes it inept.
Compared to ST, and EQ...based sole on the fact it's a pulse effect is fair enough. Yet both ST/EQ those offer further mitigation by debuffing to-hit , and also -def in the case of EQ.
True it sets up containment, but most APP(if you are waiting this long for the power to have actual damage boosting implimentation) powers have DoTs associated with them with a couple exceptions, which would render the sleep ineffectual and again the gremmies at this time would also damage surrounding enemies.
SF has a slowing component which if they fall back to sleep in the next pulse seems wasted effect (of course no numbers on the effect either, and don't think it's enhanceable). The +end component for allies may be the best effect, but without access to any numbers may prove to be a non-factor...
This power isn't all that great....of course this is IMHO. I'm sure there are those of you that disagree.
I'm playing Elec/Rad in case you were wondering....
Freedom Bound!!!
Wow. This power seems to perform very well. Anyone else really liking this one?
