Thanks for the response guys. Hopefully by March I'll have a new shiny and faster computer so I can take part in more raids without all the lag!!!

Nope, not at all. In fact I love it. I only have 6 50's at the moment and only planned on making 3 of them incarnates plus a 4th alt who is currently lvl 35. So getting them to Incarnate status wasn't very difficult. Plus the story lines are refreshing. The respec I'm taking my time with. I've respeced toons before and completely messed them up and I don't want to repeat that mistake again. I have about 30+ alts so that is going to be a long process that I'll spread out over the next few months (some I haven't played in 60 days or more). I took a peek in Atlas AE last night and there were only 5 people in there! I've never seen it that dead before since it's inception. I've never been a fan of the disaster zones (Hollows, Boomtown, RWZ) but yesterday I spent more time in RWZ than I have in the two years I've been playing CoH. So if the devs goals was to get ppl out of AE and into some of the less popular areas then I say they have succeeded. I'm happy the fitness pool is inherent now. It should have been from the start, as well as the rail system linking to all areas now. Overall I give the devs an A+ for their efforts on this one.

Ok, so I just took part in my first mother ship raid yesterday and it was quite fun. However I'm at a loss as to where do you get the bombs to blow the grates once on the mother ship? I've searched here in the forums but haven't been able to find the answer yet. If anyone can enlighten me I'd appreciate it.

I'll pass on this one but how about a travel pack next time? I'd love to see a grappling hook, an ice bridge ala Iceman or even a skateboard or jet as travel powers.

What sets are those? I'm working on Mids right now (just got it a few days ago and still trying to figure out what I'm doing) but I can't seem to get my defense above 12%.
*Edit* Ok, toyed with Mid's a little more and I think I've figured it out, but that brings up another question As a scrapper shouldn't I focus on type defense (smashing/lethal) as opposed to positional? What defense % should I try to get to, 25%, 35%, 45% and is it possible without making my scrap into a tank?
Thanks for the assist guys, I appreciate the input. Up until now I just came into the city to bust bad guys but now that I have a couple of 50's I guess it's time to take it to the next level. -
Ok, so I should focus on hover, combat jumping, bob and weave, maneuvers, anything else?

I want to solo AV's with a fire/ regen scrapper but is it possible? Has anyone done this already? How much did you have to spend to get prepared?

Quote:Sounds like I just need more practice and patience. If someone else was doing it then it's not impossible, I may just need to wait until I get her to L50 and have access to all her powers. Now I have something to look forward to. Thanks for the input.I saw on the boards a while ago that some one was soloing AV's using a Fire/Therm - I believe it was Silverado but I could be wrong.
At L39 I wouldn't go near AV's or GM's but you should be OK with EB's; just stack the buffs on the Imps and keep them healed and debuff the EB.
/Kins aren't particulary good for AV's and GM's, /Rad is the preferred AV soloer. -
I usually take on three at a time and never considered the fact that they may be stronger than an EB. Thanks for your input.

The reason for this post is to pick the brains of the more knowledgeable members out there to find out if a fire/therm is able to solo a EB/AV/GM? I've tried taking on Bosses with my 39 troller and gotten waxed within seconds, so must I take a Kin in order to solo Bosses or do I just need more time working with my troller?

How well do you do when you solo? It could be that you're not as bad as you think, and in fact, the teams you've been on sucked. I have an 18 fire/fire Dom that I mostly solo with, and I usually have no problems mowing down everyone (albeit very slowly) but when I team with a group and their main strategy is to rush in and attack I'm usually the first to fall.
I plan to mostly solo until I reach lvl 32. By then I may be able to contribute without being the first to die if the team sucks. It takes longer to lvl that way but it's safer and cheaper as far as debt is concerned.
Good luck. -
When I first started playing (a whole 10 months ago) you had about a 50% chance of getting on a decent team, so there has been bad players before AE. Now it does seem to be worse because everyone is looking for easy XP. Once they do venture out into the rest of the city they have no idea how to use their toons or have a concept of how a team fights. I was on a team last night, there were 4 trollers, a scrapper and a PB. We were a little concerned we were going to have problems because we didn't have a tank or any real firepower. Because of that, we had to think and play to our strengths, and we tore through our missions. No one even came close to dying. Unfortunately the matrix of the team changed and we ended up having a tank, 4 scrappers, and 2 trollers. We died several times because the scrappers wouldn't allow the tank or trollers to do their jobs. We kept telling them to let the tank get aggro, let the trollers hold'em, and then the scraps could rip into them but they wouldn't listen. We lasted 2 missions before everyone logged.
One night I put together a team to run through a mish I just created. One of the people I invited made a smart comment about I must not know what a boss farm is since that's what he was looking for. I told him I make my missions harder than most and if we could make it through my Lt. farm, I'd be glad to pull out one of my boss farms. We got waxed by the first mob and guess who was the first one to cry, first to die, and first to quit? Three of us stayed and completed the mission, the rest quit. Ironic that three were able to do what eight were not. It just goes to show a team is only as good as its weakest link, and a weak player can and will get you killed.
Having said all that, I actually LOVE the concept of AE. The thought of having hundreds of fresh, new, creative missions is awesome, I just hate the way it's being exploited. So my plan is to make a SG and hopefully use AE to teach these kids how a real team works and how to use their toons properly. Not to say I know everything about the game, but with the help of other vet players, maybe we can turn this thing around and create some good players. -
My only complaint is that none of the links to player guides work now.
