Mother Ship Raid question...

Ok, so I just took part in my first mother ship raid yesterday and it was quite fun. However I'm at a loss as to where do you get the bombs to blow the grates once on the mother ship? I've searched here in the forums but haven't been able to find the answer yet. If anyone can enlighten me I'd appreciate it.

They're a glowie inside the grate. Once you smash your way in, you just click the glowie. The trick is that you'll probably have level 54 Rikti on you, and it's click duration is fairly substantial.

Yeah, those Ritki are really asking for it, leaving bombs inside their ventilation shafts. They must take their engineering cues from Star Trek, where control panels like to explode when an unrelated part of the ship is hit!

Oh, and Crimson demands you play this arc-> Twisted Knives (MA Arc #397769)

Cobalt covered the basics but I'll add that there are also time limits on the bombs. Each team can only plant one bomb and each grate can only be bombed once within a certain time period. I've heard it's half an hour for both but never attempted to verify that.

If you attempt to click a second bomb, it tells you the timer is 30 minutes. If you wait until 30 minutes after your team planted, you can plant another one.

As for the bombs on the ship respawning again.. I've never noticed that happening unless it was a new raid.

This matches my experience.

Thanks for the response guys. Hopefully by March I'll have a new shiny and faster computer so I can take part in more raids without all the lag!!!

I wouldn't count on it. It may well be like the lag in the ITF - it's not your computer that's the problem.
I was on a raid tonight with some really bad lag and I'm on a new computer that's much more powerful than the last time I raided. Yet, I had less lag in the past.

did you change your graphic settings with the newer computer? if you increased the settings to take advantage of a lot more power, it may end up being a wash with something like a mother ship raid

His point was that there is always a chance of serverside lag that we have no control over. Graphically, my computer runs just fine during raids, but things like power-delay or the occasional rubberbanding will always be unavoidable. When somebody says they are lagging, it's hard to know which type they are referring to unless they are more specific.

But your point is valid too... Usually people upgrade their preferences when they upgrade hardware, which will cause more strain during such events. To compare the true performance boost from upgrading, you'd have to run the raid using the old options, and see which symptoms cleared up and which didn't.

Either way, the OP would be likely to upgrade their options when they upgrade their hardware as well.. which brings us right back to Ironblade's post anyway.

I'm well aware of that. I improved my settings much less than the increase in power of the graphics card. Previously, I would have performance issues when running two accounts (in normal non-raid conditions). Now I can run two accounts perfectly.

I normally don't have problems during mothership raids but, on Sunday night, I had lag on par with 'lag hill' in the ITF. Conclusion: it wasn't me.
