The Top 10 Features That Hasn't Happened or Have been Removed in CoX.

There's been a lot of things that have been stated over the years, that have been mentioned by dev's here and there, about things that would happen but never did or has yet to come to fruition and is actually planned. I'd like to list them here. I don't think I have 10. Please feel free to add to this....

In no particular order....

1. The Vault
2. Tearing Down/Removal of the War Walls
3. Cathedral of Pain
4. Working Arena Tourney's
5. Arena Wagering/Gambling (I really thought this was a feature of i4, but looking at old notes, I swear things have been truncated)
6. Incarnate EAT
7. IoP's
8. Resetting the Chess Style Ranking System
9. Working 75 vs 75
10. A reason why HO's reduced to 33% even though ED was eventually put into place, even though the reason for reducing it was because there was no ED.

That is a good list of unrealistic or personally prioritized suggestions.

the stuff we've been getting lately is way cooler than anything on that list.

Another to add....

Super Secret out of Combat System (ya i know inventions took it place, but i saw it as something different then loot....However, looks like though they added one of the discussed skills as the upcoming vet reward, "remove any map of Fog of War". This skill would have been applicable to all the "Batman" types, something discussed that this skill would also have all the glowies on the map revealed, but i dont think that comes with the Fog of War vet power)

I wonder what other skills they had planned though.....

What are these?

Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.

Just like your comment I guess? Anyways this isn't my wish list...this is more of a swept under the rug list and do people remember these features list.

Point? There was no comparison of the stuff we've been getting lately vs. stuff that was swept under the rug.

I like the current stuff. Just was wondering about what happened to these?

Actually I forgot about the War Walls thing. I always thought the goal was to try and make the world seamless like World of Warcraft.

Top Ten Features That Have Not Yet Happened In CoH

1) In Game Honeymoons: We have had in-game marriages and even got the Wedding Pack to buy. Now how about the next logical step? Let's put Stamina to better use!

2) Suburb of Heroes: Take 2 parts Sims and 1 part CoH and you get Suburbs of Heroes. You want to make the Son or Daughter of your favorite character? You want to REALLY get into the whole Day Jobs concept? Would you just love to get into building a deluxe model base? Here's the answer!

3) Random Missions: The monorail gets hijacked while you're riding from zone to zone... Some civilian you rescue while street sweeping asks you to do one more favor... An enemy you just defeated while sweeping had some random lead on him... Okay, so this one's not funny.. but it's still a pretty good idea.

4) Chat and Bio Automatic Spell Checker: For the love of all that's holy... PLEASE!

5) Farmer's Market: If you do the same mission more than once... if you run a mission that has only 1 specific type of enemy... if any player camps by the door... In short if you farm... you get no xp, no inf, no rewards... what do you get? Vegetables... lots and lots of vegetables.

6) Customization Overload!: Character customization needs to take a lightyear leap forward! No more choosing faces; we want to choose individual features! Select nose, mouth, right eye, left eye, right upper incisor, place freckle at facial coordinate 712,315... Oh my GAWD?! Is that a gray hair?! Initiate plucking sequence!

7) Uber-Epic-Gigunda-Major-Infinite-Mega-Archetype: Epic just isn't good enough anymore. It makes no sense that my god of war, death, pestilence, famine, root canals, taxes, and fluffy bunny slippers has to start out at first level like a common hero! I want an AT that starts out at 50th level and has ALL the powers available! And as for its inherent...? Nerf Resistance... Lots and Lots of Nerf resistance.

8) Multi-Class: I'm an RPG player! I'm old school AD&D dungeon master and player extreme! I don't want to play a freakin' Fighter... I want to play a half-elven Fighter/Cleric/Mage with access to the Rogue skills. I don't care if my hero advances about as quickly as a glacier on a slow day; as long as I can run my Tank/Blaster/Defender I'll be happy! I can always Farm to get past the early levels... hey... what's with all these vegetables?

9) Hero Patrons: I LIKE the villain patrons.. and hero patrons make a heck of a lot more sense than the villain ones do.. since we all KNOW how well those villains get along with being told what to do. The other great reason to do this is because we can see how the Devs handle creating the Blue Steel patron powers... Do they stick with the standard canon or do they venture into the Chuck Norris forum perception?

10) Cross Overs: Every comic book company in the world has had cross-overs with the competition. Superman has fought the Hulk, Batman and Spiderman have squared off dozens of times. Well... I want my cross-overs! I want to see how my claws/regen scrapper stands up to Wolverine! The closest I've come so far is a PvP battle against Generic 001 234 567!

My mind wanders so often you've probably seen its picture on milk cartons. - Me... the first person version of the third person Steelclaw

Wh? The dev's swept my own list of unrealistic or personally prioritized suggestions under a rug? That doesn't make sense. Really, though, I've never heard of some of the stuff you are accusing the dev's of failing or outright removing from the game. Some stuff was free goodies and broke before implementation, other was content that was updated broken and is in the process of being fixed. Some stuff was NEVER content. And some stuff in your list you're just making up/misremembering. Honestly, are you seriously calling the dev's liars on the "If we someday merge all the servers, don't demand a server transfer refund" clause? Otherwise, the "War Walls Come Down" was referring to Rikti invasions, which happen all the time.

Most of the items you've listed weren't just "swept under the rug", though. Both the City Vault and CoP trial were shelved due to technical issues: the Vault because as it was coded, it was causing massive, game-breaking lag on even the internal servers, and the CoP because there were exploit issues which would require some time and specialized attention to resolve. Also, with base construction/raiding and PvP both still in long-term states of reworking (Paragon's development schedule has been thrown off a couple of times; case in point: we should've already found out what "The Coming Storm" was, but that had to be pushed back a bit to accommodate the big projects that the studio has been working on since they were acquired by NCSoft), there's no real point to add the CoP trial back to the game until everything else associated with it is up and fully running.

Making SG membership based on global accounts was never anything that was even remotely set in stone; the last thing said about it was that it would be looked into. Maybe the idea couldn't make it past that point? Incarnates as an epic AT might still be in the works; the fact that both the "Origin of Power" arc and the Cimeroran content talk about it could certainly be a precursor to it being added to the game. As for HOs being 33%? Well, I'm not privy to the design theory behind that. Maybe you should try PMing a dev about it. In my own opinion, however, they now represent a nice accompaniment to IOs. If you're looking to maximize the effectiveness of enhancers and aren't too caught up in getting set bonuses, mixing IOs and HOs is usually the way to go. And as for the War Walls, they do come down ... every time the Rikti attack. Sometimes, things aren't meant to be taken literally

Some of the features you mentioned would be nice to have, and we may still have them at some point. Others are likely never going to see the light of day. But please don't assume that the devs just kinda shrugged and went to work on something else. There are reasons for everything.

Positron: "There are no bugs [in City of Heroes], just varying degrees of features."

Tell me what im making up?

The war walls like ultimus said was to make the game seamless instead of loading from zone to zone.

And you sir are putting words in my mouth. I havent attacked the devs at all nor called them liars. Perhaps you should stop the dev nuthugging.

I miss the Out of Combat System, too. Statesman talked about features of it in detail, as I recall, and it simply disappeared. We could do thinks like train in the Bomb Squad which would reveal where explosive glowies were on the map. I know parts of this were implemented with Inventions and the Day Jobs, but I always remember it as being something that sounded really cool.

QR: So the burden of proof is on me to disprove your wild claim, that the dev's have already explained/refuted...and until I do so, I am a "dev nuthugger?" Well, with debate skills like that, how can I possibly compete?

Sure you have.

You've just done it in a lame passive aggressive way instead of being direct and owning your opinions.

Great post....didnt know about the Vault, thing...they never really commented on it after Posi talked about it. Though they did mention ( I swear in the i15 patch notes, though seems gone again) along the lines that tracking to be used for future or something like that, cant find it though. Which is part of the vault I believe? The backend to it is still in game though....would be cool if the vault, added Mid's to it, almost like a WoW Armory+Talent Calculator built into one.

Wait what? Where did we find out what the "Coming Storm" was? What is it?

The OP feels that we should have already received that content by now. S/he is entitled to that opinion, but I hardly see how that, in itself, counts as the devs failing or deliberately removing content.

Again with the meritless accusations.

I don't feel we should have already received that content by now, dont care if any of it comes true or not...you just wonder about things, ya know?. Getting the stories about why they never came to pass or if they do come to pass make for great reading and great discussion. This is a discussion board after all is it not?
