These days you can pay $5 for a pre-order and join the "open beta" for two weeks before the game comes out. They usually don't make any drastic changes in the last 2 weeks before launch so you're pretty much playing the same game, you just lose your characters at launch. (And of course, with the preorder, if you do choose to by the game, you get a few days headstart to bring your character back to a respectable level.)

I've found that taking advantage of this new marketing genius has actually helped me SAVE more money than spend. (Thank god for the pre-order open beta of Tabula Rasa!)

I have enough interest to spend $5 on two weeks of slightly buggy play. We'll see where it goes from there...

I finally hit 1 billion on one of my characters (sorry no #9 post!) and immediately turned around and made an infamy for influence transfer for Xantos, which left my Virtue Villain with about 106 million and a half dozen things for sale... kind of exciting, I get to start from the bottom (sort of) and work my way back up again. ^_^ Meanwhile my main Virtue Hero went from 500 million to 1.6 billion.

I sold a lot of enhancements and made a lot of money. One of my marketers finally managed to sell most of the Aegis IOs that I'd priced a bit too high, but I still have 4-5 left... I might actually have to pull them down and price them lower, although I pretty much hate doing that.

I ran a Khan TF on Freedom, with my fire/fire blaster that hit 50 last week. I'd only done it on Virtue previously. End fight is still annoyingly long and stupid.

I played D&D on Saturday, for the first time in maybe 25 years. So I didn't get much CoH in that day.

Late Sunday I joined a friend who likes to run serious PL farms. It was scary how effective those can be on 2xp weekends... just a simple boss farm on the Dreck map, but with a team built to make short work of things. When we started I had a 47 scrapper and on the 2nd account a level 15 invul/fire tank. My goal for the evening was to get him to 20. I'm a bit embarrassed to admit, I not only got my scrapper to 50, but my tank wound up at level 40.

And we didn't even clear the first island. That's kind of obscene actually. But I guess the good news is, I have a invul tank at 47 already and a fire scrapper at 50, so I haven't PL'd a toon that I don't know how to play.

Yeah, agreed. I can't wait till they put in more campaigns. Hopefully it'll be a cheap expansion.

I didn't track actual amounts, but I sold dozens of Performance Shifters
and Karma -KBs over the weekend. My common IO crafters we're selling as
fast as they could make their shinies. I even moved a small handful of
purples (which I didn't expect).

On top of that, I got my Widow to L50, and a couple other toons to the
high 20's, so I consider it a highly successful weekend.

Finally, to Smurphy's point, I also have a number of set items that I
expect to sell as players trick out their newly levelled toons during this
week.

My double XP weekend went pretty well. I sold a PvP IO for 1.7 billion(about a billion profit), made another three millionish off of ticket rolls, got my cold/dark defender to 50(then dropped over a billion on her), and a DM/Inv Scrapper to 34.

Respecced my namesake out of her Confuse and Hold purples (first build still has them heh) and put them all for sale and made several hundred million.
Got lucky on my Rad/Therm as a boss in BSF dropped an Oblit Quad 50, which I promptly crafted along with the second one I rolled off tickets.

Also sold PvP IOs on redside, should have no trouble IOing out my Rad/Therm.

I shouldn't have read this thread. I was happy about making 120mil or so on common IOs until I read it .

I sorted out Smurphy with common IOs, 'in bulk' for a new project group for him as I knew I wouldn't be on that much this weekend.

So enough inf I was happy with the weekends results (and he generously earned a lot of prestige for me as well)

Made about 250 million in Inf, mostly from selling common salvage, a few recipes and the rest from just gaining inf from playing.

Not a huge haul, but respectable.

The counts are still coming in for me, but I am at about 800 Million for the weekend plus some sales I made today. Not a bad little score at all if I do say so myself, and I do!

322 Million so far here.

I started on my 19 scrapper with about 8 million infamy.

I ended at level 50 and about 200 million in the bank on nothing but regular infamy gain and selling IOs I got exclusively from bronze rolls.

I didnt get as much inf as planned, my IO's didnt sell as fast as normal. Almost slowed down sales from my normal range.

I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.

Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.

So sad to be ending ):

Okay, sorry, I just had to say it once.

Currently sitting at about 200mil and still over half of my stuff has not sold. Didn't really go for extreme profits because I don't have any expensive projects underway.

I agree there has always been a 2-3 week period where the market is high as all those xp babies need to have their enhancement slots filled up. I expect this one to be no different

I'm a little miffed that more people were planning ahead this time. I listed gobs of commons at inflated prices, and the majority sold out before dubble expees got going.

Sure, collecting piles o' loot does tend to unmiff one, but still--it's like opening a present you wrapped for yourself.

Did manage to flip a moderately overpriced purple, but I had too many pans in the fire (and am too disorganized) to have a final total from all my alts' activities. One thing I didn't do this time was to pay full price for a 35/40 crafting badge and still turn a major profit (recipes bought from the table, salvage bought NAO).

I did, however, take a fire tank into CF and firebomb the heck out of some Rikti. Best rate was 1 level in 0.5 hours, and a nice Crushing Impact for my trouble (and some other goodies).

I'm speaking profit at least. I started at about 450 with 50 mil invested in goods. I'm now sitting at 850 million

I can almost TASTE 1 billion.

I went a little different route than most. I had about 30 regular IOs for sale for the easy money. But for the most part I put in bids for a lot of recipes.

I spent all of my time leveling instead of worrying about the market.

I logged in yesterday and had gotten almost all I had bid on (none were big ticket items, that wasnt the plan). With salvage prices so high after the event I went and spent a half hour farming.

Got a purple and it sold for 240 million. Since my luck was good I decided to random roll 240 merits.

Got a Lotg 7.5%
Oblit quad
blessing knockback
and many other good ones.

Makes up for all the "bad" rolls from the past.

This is just the initial inventory of sales (listed in millions) as I go through my inventory. I didn't have time to play AE over the weekend, but I list a ton of things on the market, so here's the list so far:

14, 15, 30, 12, 24, 29, 19, 105, 11, 27, 24, 22, 36, 39, 11, 29, 18, 38, 21, 81, 87

Total: 692 mil.

That does not include the recipes that have yet to sale, nor does it include any slots that sold for under 10 mil. Not bad considering I did nothing in the game for 4 days. Oh, take a third off of that and you probably will get my profit. Oh, and I haven't gone through everyone yet.

Overall, not too bad.

Profit for me. I stockpiled goods prior to 2XP so the costs were all paid prior to 2XP and had been factored out. The crafting costs of the IOs I created after 2XP started and their listing fees I deducted from my revenue so it's all profit.

My wife's VEAT numbers are also all profit. She started 2XP with nothing and had a bit over 150,000,000 on that toon at the end of 2XP.
