Have Firefox? Can't stay logged in? Let's troubleshoot.
No trouble here with Firefox.
Windows XP 32-bit Service Pack 3
Firefox 3.0.12 (previously used 2.0.0.20 with same settings with no trouble)
Extensions installed:
AVG Safe Search 8.5
IE View 1.4.2
Microsoft .Net Framework Assistant 1.1
Tabbrowser Preferences 1.3.1.1 (disabled currently due to compatibility, was enabled in 2.0.0.20)
Default theme 3.0.12
Plugins installed:
Adobe Acrobat Plugin Version 7.00 for Netscape
BitTorrent Plugin 1
Citrix ICA Client Plugin (Win32)
Java 2 Platform Standard Edition 5.0 Update 2
LogMeIn, Inc. Remote Access Components 1.0.0.395
Microsoft Office 2003
Microsoft DRM
Mozilla Default Plug-In
Quick Time Plug-in 7.5.5
RealPlayer Version Pluging 6.0.12.1739
RealPlayer G2 LiveConnect-Enabled Plug-In (32-bit)

Shockwave for Director version 10.1
Silverlight Plug-In 1..30401.0
Windiz Update Plug-in 2.0.2006.811
Windows Presentation Foundation
To tell the truth, I don't recall installing any plugins except for the Flash Player plugin and the Quick Time Plugin when I first installed Firefox. I may have installed the Shockwave plugin, but the rest of them look as if they likely installed automatically when I installed the associated programs, such as Jave, RealPlayer, etc.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Before I updated to 3.5.1, Firefox said that Microsoft .Net Framework Assistant 1.0 wouldn't work with it, despite that, I'm able to stay logged in now on this site and I'm not forcibly logged out whenever I change forums or look in another thread.
No troubles here.

I'm glad you started this thread. I'm having nothing but problems. It took me about six login attempts just to get to the point where I can post - I hope it will post this. If not I'll switch to IE to post.
I'll troubleshoot on my own on a machine that has no addons yet and see what I can come up with. For now here's what I've got:
OS Version (including whether 64-bit or 32-bit and Service Pack versions)
Vista 64-bit, Home Premium SP1 (I know, I know... Windows 7 is on preorder already!)
Firefox Version: 3.0.12
Installed Extensions, including version numbers if available
Adblock Plus 1.1 (may be a good candidate for troublemaker?)
AVG SafeSearch 8.5 (May be a better candidate)
AVG Security Toolbar 2.506.014.001 (also a candidate)
Cooliris 1.11.1
Microsoft .NET Framework Assistant 1.1

First of all, I'd highly recommend getting Service Pack 2 for Vista.
Also, are you coming in through the boards.cityofheroes.com address or one of the others such as boards.cityofvillains.com or boards.coh.com or uk.boards.cityofheroes.com etc.
If you are using one of the latter, try the boards.cityofheroes.com address and see if that resolves the problem. You can set the Theme to be the Villain theme even though the address is a Hero address.

The XP machine with no add-ons is fine. Dunno whether that means it's a Vista problem or and Add-on problem, but I suspect the latter.

Update: I've uninstalled AVG completely and it's working fine. Reinstalling now without the stupid Toolbar and we'll see if it still works....
Edit: Yup that's the culprit. I still have the AVG Safe Search 8.5 extension after reinstalling, but the Toolbar is gone (it had already been disabled before the uninstall anyway). It works now.
So for anyone else with this problem, do you have the AVG Toolbar? Even if it is disabled, looks like it may be causing problems.

I'll pass on this one. Especially since I basically only use Firefox for testing sites that are work related or that format themselves to look nasty in IE but ok in Firefox. Yeah, there are a few. And some that refuse to run in IE at all.

I tried NoScript based on your recommendation, but I'm going to have to uninstall it since it doesn't seem to play nicely with some of the features of these forums. As an example. I can no longer hover over icons and get a popup telling me what that icon does. Clicking the Quick Reply icon took me to the full Quote editing window and didn't allow me to use the Quick Reply that I was trying to get to. I don't like having to fight my addons to do what I normally do. Yeah, I know I can temporarily allow this site or always allow it, but it's more trouble than I want to deal with.

I passed on NoScript for some of the same reasons. It's possible to get it to play nice with sites like this, but not without some fiddling. I used it on my computer at work for a long time since I had a need to keep that more secure than my home machines. But when they rolled out a new interactive Intranet site I had to get rid of it there, too, since it was just too much of a hassle to get it to work.

Your old links likely won't work anyway since the link references a thread number and ALL posts have new numbering. Wheeeeeee! It's a fun time to start searching to try to find all the old posts, updating your links, etc. Be glad you aren't trying to maintain the guides with all the broken links, and especially broken links inside posts linked with more broken links.
A headache for certain.

I spoke too soon, now it is not working again.
Do you have AVG installed? By any chance do you have the Toolbar for it installed?
It looks like a solution may be to uninstall AVG, reboot, reinstall AVG without the Toolbar and see if this helps your problems.
Apparently, even if it is disabled it will cause problems.
Does this help anyone else?

I'll ask the obvious question though. Are you using the boards.cityofheroes.com address or a different address?
Have you cleared your cookies? (However you do that on a Mac).
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
Black Pebble is my new hero.
It seems the problem stems from the fact that the cookies is set for boards.cityofheroes.com and if you log into the site from any other domain (like boards.coh.com, boards.cityofvillain.com etc.) you loose the cookies.
Do you have AVG installed? By any chance do you have the Toolbar for it installed?

Still nothing.
Nearly all the time, a program released for both Mac and PC will work pretty much the same on both platforms; maybe the titles of the menus and the placement of certain items in those menus will be different to keep with the traditional conventions of the different systems, but maybe not. Clearing the cookies from a Mac-based Firefox install should pretty much be the same as doing so on a PC-based install: Tools>Options>Privacy, though it may be under Edit>Preferences>Privacy (as that's more typical of a Mac menu setup) or somesuch. Either way, it's not too difficult.
FUN FACT: That burst of light when you level up is actually the effectiveness escaping from your enhancements all at once.
This is relating to the new forums and those that are unable to stay logged in using Firefox.
Okay, the Firefox issue is beginning to get me curious since I've had no troubles running different versions of Firefox on XP or Vista and several others have had no trouble while others have nothing BUT trouble with it. I got to thinking earlier this morning that there might be one other area having to do with Firefox that we haven't been testing, namely addons, be they themes, extensions, or plug-ins.
So, if you would, let us know the following:
OS Version (including whether 64-bit or 32-bit and Service Pack versions)
Firefox Version (click Help > About Mozilla Firefox if you aren't certain)
Installed Extensions, including version numbers if available
Installed Themes
Installed Plug-Ins including version numbers if possible.
Maybe if we can find some common factor we can help get it fixed.
No troubles here.

Microsoft .NET Framework Assistant 1.1

I'll post the specs from my current Firefox installation on my XP system in another post.
