In face, it wasn't very fun to me at all, which is why I left that other game I played to come back home to CoH.

Loyalty Scheme and beta for GR

and then I wanna get in on some of this objective camping kill steeling awesomeness.
If you want to play CO GREAT, but for goodness sakes give it up on the how awesome that game is. Lots of people here have tried it. And lots of people here disliked it.
Sure some people like it. But, those people tend to not be so "IN YO FACE" about it.
If you want me to stop telling you MY OPINION about CO, then yanno Stop spewing yours.
Don't get me wrong, I think CO is getting better as it goes, but it's still repetitive and uninteresting in comparison to COH.
Hopefully they'll learn from CO and actually make Star Trek a better game (in my opinion of course).

Just some thoughts...
First, if you just started playing the game today, but paid for a one year subscription, your not a one year Vet. Yer not even a vet at all. So I recon yer not a 60+ paid time vet if you have 59 months under yer belt with one month of prepaid time to go.
Second, Unless I missed something that others have read regarding the GR beta release, I can't find anything that says the 60+ month qualifier has to based on US subscribers. So, its entirely possible that the EU subscribers are included for the GR beta because when they hit 60+ months, our US subscribers will definitely be 60+ months.
If I missed something that confirms the 60+ months must be based on US subscribers, please link it for me.

The EU game launched a year or so after the original game launched. Given that we don't know when the actual closed beta will be, it's possible that there'll be a general opportunity for the long-term EU players to hig 60+ months, realistically it's unlikely unless they're one of the much smaller number who started out on the NA game and stayed there instead of switching when the EU servers went online.
It doesn't matter, though. Tier 2 is basically everybody with a subscription in September. As long as every EU subscriber on the books today stays a subscriber for the next three months, they'll get into the closed beta (along with everyone else who keeps their subscription active during those months).

well the only thing I'd like to get an answer on is the 60 month paid time vs game time.. I'll be at 56 months by the time November rolls around but it does not really matter since I'll be tier 2 anyway.. and I'll get an alt account in with the pre-order..

Honestly a much better setup really.

I don't get these people that support CO so heavily. You really want WoW with Superheroes that bad? Not to mention not having playable villains = instant fail for me.
More on topic however. I love the loyalty program, mainly cause it has perfect timing for me. My year sub would be running out in October so it's the perfect time to subscribe for another year and get 2 free months.
To be fair PP, they changed the end builders to be a toggle. It's more like 1 .. wait .. 22 .. wait .. 2 ..wait .. wait .. 3(that's a big attack you see).
Honestly a much better setup really. |
The combat is still not as entertaining as it is in this game (for us).
I just got a tell from a friend earlier today as a matter of fact, and he said he still isnt diggin the combat over there.
BUT we all agree the costume creator is shweet!
Hm, I wonder what happens if your credit card expires during that time, if they'll give you a pass on it. I know that's happened to me at least twice, and I've fixed it immediately. Just checked mine to be sure, and it's set to 2012
Also, I'm 60 months on Nov 17th. Wonder where that puts me...
And you'll find a large contingent of players (well people on these boards anyway) who were not only thrilled when Jack Emmert left CoX but also feel that Matt Miller has done a far better job at the helm.

Still think CO has a better costume creator, well in theory, the navigation and general art direction of the pieces is godawful but it does have a lot of potential.

8 Ball - Lev 50 Kin/Energy Defender
The Canadian Fist - Lev 50 Ice/EM Blaster
Omega Ghost - Lev 50 Robo/Dark MM
Ghostfall - Lev 50 Arachnos Crab Soldier
Huh. Oddly that's one of the biggest disappointments for me. I like possibilities of all the options they give, but sadly I don't like the look of 90%-95% of the options they've managed to come up with.

I hate the chick face thoe. Like I HATE IT. Even thoe I never see the front of my alt, I know its there and I dont like it.
I'm just going to be glad when CO finally launches and it stops being news.
Now, getting back to the real topic - What kind of bribe is Paragon Studios going to offer me that's superior to a badge?
Hmmm... Well, I am subbed through Sept. 2010 (and beyond). My 60 month badge is this Sept. Annnnd I intend to preorder. Pencil me in for the Beta.
As far as it being a scheme, I hardly think that is the case. I view it more like them being confident that GR will be well worth the wait. This Development team has yet to prove me wrong and I already have my second MMO, and it's not the heroic competitor. Keep on trekking CoH!
Oh really? I thought it was about discussing City of Heroes in general, not blindly praising it constantly. The fact of the matter is, CO is offering more than CoH can. I used to love CoH. It was my favorite MMO. I've played it since issue 3. But frankly it's grown boring. There is absolutely nothing to do in this game but farm anymore. There is no end-game content. I was hoping i16 would keep me, but it's not adding any actual content other than power customization, which CO already has.
The last three issues have been worthless. i13 was going to be the MA, but it changed. It didn't add much. i14 was the MA. It added farms and Atlas spam. i15 added one task force. I want more things to do for FUN. Maybe GR will sway me back, maybe not. I'm guessing not, but we'll see. |
Your main complaint with CoH is that "they've only added this, this and this!". When you get to the point all you can complain about is additions to the game, the game is probably in good shape.
For the rest of the quoted post, I only quoted it so I could mention my upcoming guide to playing the game. It seems like a lot of people do play to farm, and I simply want to show a different style of play. Getting into a SG like (for example) the Repeat Offenders can completely change your play experience. You'd be surprised how much longer you can enjoy the game if you find friends in-game and do completely "unneccessary" things like TFs, actual missions, and etc.
