Double XP Weekend
i did. Even though i ALSO did some AE farming, my Husband and i also got some nice PuGs (not always a contradiction in terms) together to do some story arcs. We leveled up just as fast and managed to get some of the various badges for that, such as the one for Loa Bone. Of course, we also managed to outlevel just as much content, because an 8man team levels psychotically fast no matter where you're playing on Double XP weekend.
There is a difference between the people that did it in PI last weekend, that at least had to know how to get to PI, how to get a PI farm arc or find a farmer willing to farm you etc etc and the people that just log in to Atlas Park, sign up to a maniac lvl 54 boss slam and walk a few metres to the AE and never leave it for the whole weekend (except to make new toons).

Oooor, there's absolutely no difference.
@Rylas
Kill 'em all. Let XP sort 'em out.
I thought it was a lot of fun.
I got 3 brand new characters (all in Leveling Pacts) to 22.
We did missions together, we had fun.
Barely touched the AE, and barely did any radio missions.
Here's something no one wants to hear:
If people are having fun playing the game, and it may not be your way of doing it ... why do you let it bother you? I may not enjoy being told how to play the game, but I'm a defender, I get it all the time.
You can enjoy the game the way you want to. And let others do the same. Preferably, without being vocal about it.

Farming in PI: You needed to know how to use the tram.
Farming in AE: You don't need to know how to use the tram.
Farming in PI: You need to know what a contact is.
Farming in AE: You don't really need to know what a contact is.
Farming in PI: You are farming dev content designed to be "balanced."
Farming in AE: You are farming player content designed to be l33ts4uc3.
Farming in PI: You had to get to PI before you heard the PL Broadcasts.
Farming in AE: Welcome to Paragon City, would you like some RMT with your farm?
[Edited for typo's and to emphasize that the last one is the big problem. With a bunch of Real Money Transfer sweatshop farmers as the greeting crew for almost everybody in the game, Paragon Studios aren't exactly putting their best foot forward for new customers. I have heard it referred to as "Double Spam Weekend" and I'd say that's accurate.
So, yeah, there is a difference. Now, nobody (including RMT'ers) has to leave Atlas Park, ever...]

CoH_Player_101: It's okay. Your choice in avatars makes up for a world of indiscretion.
I should think people complaining about the AE babies would be happy if they never left Atlas Park. Then you (generic you) wouldn't have to worry about them showing up clueless on your PuG.
Honestly, how is it hurting you, personally (generic you), if they never leave Atlas?
I have a wide level range of characters and I have yet to actually run into or be inconvenienced in some way by a new player who leveled from 1 - 50 in a day. They simply don't exist for me.
Chances are, these kinds of AE fluffers will stay in AE and never touch the game outside of it. So what? Who cares? They are still paying $15 a month to do it. If you (generic you) consider that wasting their money because you think they aren't seeing "the real game" so what? Hundreds of thousands of people blow their cash on frippery frappe grandes with skim and a shot of espresso EVERY DAY. Are you going to tell them how to spend their money?
I'm just surprised people complain about not getting a team... What server were you on? I was on Virtue and other than using AE to get my 45 Brute, who has been stuck there forever, to 48 I had been on a LRSF, not to mention got several pacted toons, at least, four levels in mid 20s, and even one of them up to 33.
I just don't see where all these 'There's no teams!' whines are coming from. You either don't form your own teams, so whine about not getting one, or just don't know how to search for one...
Tough, but with love,

I still think a 2x merits weekend would be great, first AE willnot be done, second you still do the normal content, and 3rd we will get enough merits to buy some of the pricey recipes, plus we would be forced to do use different toons, after a itf,lg,kahn, and maybe a
respec or two, you still need to wait 24 hours,or switch to another toon to get merits.

Did a brief search, found nothing, and thought I would resurrect an old thread to ask the question (please forgive me if it has already been asked):
"Its January! Isn't it time for another x2 xp weekend?"
I so hope it does not happen in January as I am booked for every weekend. I hope it will be the weekend right next to Valentine's day, then we can do the event and x2 xp at the same time :-)
I also hope that the extra x2 xp weekend we got in October does not delay the regular one in January
There's a Rikti invasion coming up, most likely within a week or two, that lasts about a week.
There's the Spring Fling event (possibly including an anniversary event for Sister P and Manti) that takes place in the weeks surrounding Valentine's.
Packing a DXP weekend in there seems folly, but no real reason not to (there's precedence with the second DXP). No word yet either way. BTW, there isn't really any "regular" January DXP weekends... only 2/3 were in January (second was in February), so you can't call it "regular".

Agge, there was a 2XP Weekend last year in January.
Yes? The first early-year DXP weekend was January, the second early-year DXP was February, and the third was January.
Which is exactly what I just got done saying. Only two of three in January does not mean "regularly." Hell, THREE does not mean "regularly."
