Weaksauce: Combined Market+Inventions Forums

How's this for the first post back...LAME! And why is there a thread looking for a gay SG at the top of this forum? That's neither here nor there!

PS - Good lookin forums!

I liked having the market forums and invention forums seperate as well. I can see why they merged them, but this will probably only encourage the occasional anti-marketeer posts or the gimme more inf plz posts.

To be fair. we get crapload of inf whines or complaints about IOs anyhow. Still unhappy they merged the forums, though. ;/

Got to agree preferred market & Inventions seperate.

Already got my first response that was...I won't call it trollish...but let's say someone who doesn't understand the market mentality misinterpreting our ironic jesting. You know, "Oh crap, I'm not making money hand over fist, just hand over hand! Whatever will I do?" "Well, <smarmy smarm smarmenstein>!"

Well half the market posts were about avilability and usage of IOs, so they kinda go hand in hand. Let's just ride this out and see how the forum goes along and if it gets to be a problem, i'm sure the community staff will gladly re-seperate our play-pens.

One vote for "this is bad" here.

You can sell IO's on the market, sure, but how does random sales of Powerleveling pacts and self congratulatory #9's have to to with IO's?* What does picking the best frankenslotting and set bonuses for your powers have to do with the Market?**

*It affects the amount of IO's available out there as there are more higher level toons with more slots needing more IO's!
**You can try to say that "best" is relative, maybe cheap IO's are better?

Oh and that reminds me, it seems my ignore list didn't come along for the ride.

Yeah, mine neither. Not that I think it's fair to block EmperorSteele... LOL I kid, I kid.

I only ended up using the Ignore function for obvious gimmick posters and such though so I'll just rebuild it from scratch.

They might as well have merged this forum with the RP forums!

UberGuy posted in another thread that it might've been that Inventions was getting anemic, but honestly when an entire forum contains only 9 varieties of posts I was starting to wonder if it was time to reorganize.

I hate the smileys though. It's not so much the actual graphic but the quality is terrible; there needs to be alpha channel smoothing around the edges.

aesthetics are personal, but in every other way this software beats the living tattoo off the old forums.

If you click User CP = (User Control Panel), then go to Edit Options, then scroll down to Miscellaneous Options - you can set the Basic Editor, Standard Editor, or Enhanced Interface "Full WYSIWYG Editing"...

The Default is set to Basic, the last 2 have most of the formating options selectable at the top (and even a "Switch Editor Mode".
Although, I'm not entirely sure yet what that changes or how.
You can text to - bold, italitcs, underlined, select from some colors, insert links, and insert images (and the first top left little box says it'll - "remove all text formating").

IDK how to set Font/Type size yet, and there's no list of smileys or anything (?) but there are a few I've seen that are actually very simple... (as in Homer Simpson "Doh!" simple)
I've seen the shifting colors thing (where a paragraph starts with one color/shade and cycles through range of colors) - But, I haven't figured that out just yet.

Once you change your options to Not use the Basic Editor it seems to be mostly the same as the UBB code, and TBH it's probably "easier" - IF you don't already have the UBB code "stuck in your head"... (so to speak).


Oh wait this just in! (As in I just noticed it.)
Down at the bottom left of the page in the "Posting Rules" box there's (with my settings ATM), clicking on smiles brings up a page with a list of basic Smiles.

BB code is On
Smiles are On
[IMG] code is On
and HTML code is Off

Ok, when I went to hit "Preview Post" there was a "Go Advanced" button/box... - which brought up all sorts of stuff like selectable Smiles, Fonts, Font sizes, Align Left or Right, Ordered Lists, and even Indenting, etc.

(Well, there's one less excuse for poor grammar, punctuation, and whatnot - in the forums.)
And, I just realized I actually HAVE used this Setup before on another forum/board - it just had the "Message Editor Interface:" defaults set differently.
Ok, this isn't nearly as bad as I thought it was gonna be...

The problem I have with the market forum now is it's under "Player Help" and I feel obligated to help. I wish they had put it under the "Player Insult" or "Player Mock" sub-forums!
