My broadcasts were ever few mins for about 5mins. 2 of us broadcasting from the SG. Well inside the rules that i was given by the Devs.

Reading that, you can interpret it that you either broadcast your message a maximum of 2-3 times, or you broadcast it repeatedly for 5 minutes solid, with a few minutes inbetween?

Can you clarifiy?

Does anyone here ever actually join SG's that get advertised over broadcast? I know that I for one, wouldn't do so...

[/ QUOTE ]

I used to but now I've found a nice SG that I can settle down in with all my alts

I wouldn't as I'd prefer to get to know people first, also I do a fair bit of recruiting and I've never used broadcast - I prefer to send tells and talk through what we have to offer so people can make their own choices.

Which is pretty much my point really. IMO, any SG that has to publicly broadcast for members isn't going to be worth joining... No offense to the OP, but there are better ways of gaining members. Such as teaming with people and telling them about your SG whilst you team.

No, because you're an established player with an established SG and a bunch of globals (I assume anyway ).
Broadcasts are a good way to rake up newbes and people in dead/dying SG's looking for a change. Having a bunch of new players in your SG can actually be quite fun and can form a nice foundation for a newly formed SG. And "the kick from SG button" solves any problems that may arrise

That's frequent enough to be annoying, and I would have considered that spamming.

[/ QUOTE ]

well considering the rules the Devs gave me were 1 a second i think i was extremely kind to do one ever few mins.

What i find annoying is the constant chit chat from people who refused to use local chat when talking in the square.

And in your answer to did i get any members. around 20. from a range of lvls.

I try every single way of getting new SG members, im not that new to the game. We are a well established SG and the odd broadcast doesnt hurt.

City of Angels and HGX were doing exactly the same the other day infact.

Sorry if i sound as if im on a rant, at work and clients are frustrating me

1 broadcast, wait a 2 or 3 mins, 1 broadcast, wait 2-3 mins 1 broadcast. that was it. Oh and my SG leader mate did a different broadcast (So it said different things) at the same time i did mine.

That's probably why people saw it as spamming. Next time I suggest you coordinate with your mate so that only one of you is advertising for the same SG.

Assuming that your mate made his broadcast at the same frequency you did, that's 6 broadcasts in 5-6 minutes, for the same SG?

Although it's within the 'rules', I would say that it's too many IMHO.

You really only need to make 1 broadcast every 10 minutes or so.

I can see why some people would get annoyed at that amount of spam.

Also, if they both were broadcasting a full chat of text then that's what many would call a 'wall of text' and not everyone likes that. Not everyone has big a monitor so some have small chat boxes and if it suddenly fills with text when you already reading something can be annoying.

Either way, a few months ago nobody would have actually minded too much even if it was a rather large 'wall' of text. Atlas was populated with new toons, new players or random costume contests.
The point is, really, that the OP was doing something constructive that actually helps the game flourish, unlike the farming idiots that constantly spam the zone with "[Random Level]; Looking for farm team" rubbish...
I would rather be hit with a wall of text recruiting for a SG any day, over what is currently littering Atlas.

Agree. Poor new players that come and meet that spam. I wish that MA building moved away from Atlas. It would help people come to terms and play the game through missions or sewer... rather then getting PL'ed.

But to OP, it all depends upon how many times each minute etc you shout out the broadcast announcement. I wish you good luck in getting the new recruits.

Well if it was that frequent I can see why people got annoyed. I always avoid Atlas because when I first started the game it was full of endless Spam, with SG recruitment and the MA team searching broadcast spam it still makes me remove Broadcast from my tab.

Just because something is in the rules doesn't mean it wont annoy someone. If they thought it was annoying and you thought it was OK there's a good chance the two of you would have disagreed on a fair few other things and might not have made good team mates in the first place.

At least he gave you reason for not joining you, in my opinion he wasn't being rude.

Recruits that I have brought into my SG seem to have come from teaming, getting on with people and then inviting rather than canvassing. That's the sort of SG I want to be in. Different strokes for different folks as far as I'm concerned. But if you're going to give people permissions in your SG you'll probably want to get to know them first.

Also about the frequency of my broadcasts after i had been petitioned i sent out a petition myself asking about those who had petitioned my and why.

The reply email i got simply said, you were petitioned because your broadcasts were in atlas, players felt i was interupting the flow of the MA broadcasting and that i had broadcast too much.
The rest of the email basically said they had ignored all the petitions due to the fact i broke no rules and they didnt see my broadcasts as interfering.

[/ QUOTE ]
Is this new? When ever I have queried a petition I have been told that the GM cannot discuss it with me. Even when I was once petitioned for calling someone an idiot (he got kicked from a team I was on then spent next two hours trying to get reinvited) when I finally told him why he was kicked (aggroing map and leading it onto us (back before aggro cap)) and called him several names that boiled down to 'stupid person'. Even then the GM would actually tell me what the guy had said about me.

On another note what the hell does AE stand for? All I can come up with is architect edition, which doesn't make much sense in the manner AE is used in game and on the forum. (Rather like CoR for Going Rogue.)

Architect Entertainment I think, or assume

MA = Mission Architect, which is the architct system.
AE = Architect Entertainment, which is the in-game title for it.
Both seem to be used to mean the same things though - you'll see people asking for AE teams as well as MA teams, and the buildings are called both MA buildings and AE buildings, although MA refering to the actual system seems to be used way more than AE when talking about the mechanics of it.
