External Review and Mission Listings Site

Only speaking for myself here, but I tend to list them by last commented (descending for reading, Ascending for playing), so I can leave feedback for the ones at the back of the 'queue' so to speak.
[/ QUOTE ]
I, also, tend to use that (or arc id, lowest first) when picking arcs to play/review/comment for the same sort of reason.
Of course, if we both do it by reverse last commented we could end up leapfrogging through the list...
Oh - I also tend to look for soloable and giving preference to non-extreme, non-AV...
EDIT: BTW - arc #1064 hasn't got a comment but is out of order on that list. I left a comment but it was too big and unfairly only showed about half the review so I asked for it to be deleted! I've got it written & waiting until CoG accepts longer reviews, but I'm sure GrinningSpade would be happy if anyone else wants to file a comment!

the option for those who think mankind is retarded to the point of not wanting to click a button, but leave it alone for the rest of us?
[/ QUOTE ]
Options are good. I'd prefer to have the long list as default, because if you have to click another button to list as a long list, people won't click it. Same issue as with multi-pages.

Mission Architect 54161 - Michael Mundano, Megan Malloney and the Secret Senate.
Mission Architect 91838 - Constantinople Jones' Family Secret. A One Mission Story arc.
New update to the site. There is a fair few little tweaks, some are for bugs, most are for style. I have abandoned the idea of not doing Patch Notes. So here are the patch notes
Addtion of short urls for missions.- It is now possible to use the url www.cityofguides.com/nn to display a mission. (where nn is the mission number).
Alteration of site styling.
The site has been given a makeover. It should look to the majority of people exactly the same as it was previous with some small alterations.
The site is now sized for a minimum resolution of 1024x786. When viewing at this resolution nothing should be lost from the screen.
Some of the lists have been altered in what they show to incorporate the new styling.
Images and styles have been rejigged to allow viewing with an increased browser zoom. Tested in FF 3.0.4 (linux), FF 3.0.8 (Vista 32), Chrome 1.0.154.48, IE7
Menu has been reduced in size to optimise the main viewing area.
Mission Architect has become MA in the side menus, this is so it fits in the new width and doesn't break the styling.
Superflous background image has been removed.
Added new images to the background.
Increased the size the author comments box for easier entry.
Increased the size of the comments box for easier entry.
Comments restyled to be easier to read and have the ratings stand out more.
Addition of counter script to text boxes.
Addition of the optional fields to the mission view.
Addition of version number to the mission edit.
Addition of version number to the mission view.
Addition of counters to the author notes and comment text boxes to show remaining characters.
Comments.
It is no longer possible to comment on your own arc, this is what the author notes section is for.
The comment box has been enlarged to allow easier entry of comments.
Missions.
All sorts are now secondarily sorted on arc id. So a sort on author will give a sort first by author and then by arc id.
Under the hood changes to database queries for optimisation of queries and sorts.
Don't think there is anything missing, but you know how patch notes are
oh and 3dent, give it a go with magnification now. Should be better.
Like the new look, however:
- Sort by Last commented is returning no missions.

Thats fixed now, typo in the sql statement.
This site is looking better and better, all we need to do now is spread the word some more.
It's amazing how little such a great resource is being used.
Then again atm it also stands for quality arcs... Is it elitist of me to assume a quality drop if this was, say, broadcasted in atlas?
Perhaps briefly, but with users able to add comments there and a current base of users who seem to be interested in high quality missions, "OMGFARM!!!ONE" by @ExamplePurposesMadeUpIdiot will likely not go too long without getting the beating it hypothetically deserves.
Might be a busy week or two for the site's mods, tho'.
Cancelled in Three - MA ID #34608. Please play and comment! Top 10 placing in Projectionist's MA contest!

Works nicely unless someone's login has space in it, then magnifier (Opera's) wraps it, but doesn't increase row height. Other than that, usable up to 200% which should be enough for most
Liking the new look. However, a quick suggestion: it would be nice to have the list of your own missions link to the pages to view any reviews, rather than having to find your own missions in the main list window.
Oops. I thought it was. I blame emo and his "meh!" method of checking things.
There is/was one, but you only see it right after login. Menu item would be nice.
You mean to the user arc list? The User page takes you there.
which is tiny link in the place no one is looking at. (big menu to the left and mish list steal all the attention) plus even if you go to that page, the list of missions is hidden by default and is titled just "missions" not "my missions" or something. No wonder people miss it.
Ah I see what you mean. Ok fair nuff.
I should mention that there is a good reason for it being hidden at first, but more on that later.
Very cool khaine_star: what an excelently prompt response! Sadly, this means you'll make Dev
Noo not dev. please anything but dev.. I'll.. I'll.. I'll leak information about upcomming shinies from the site.. Ha That will disprove my dev-ish ness.

Fixed for ya =P
Two replies on one page, that's a taboo. You'll never make dev.
Edit: One reply on one page, you'll never make dev!

Mission Architect 91838 - Constantinople Jones' Family Secret. A One Mission Story arc.
Just to be less vauge and put another reply on the same page. We are looking at adding reviews to the site. Nice big drawn out reviews and can't decide on the format or access. So we decided to ask what people want (even less like a dev ) The options are
<ul type="square">[*] All purpose access the same as comments. [*] Restricted to reviewers. This would be a requested status, so you would sign up and then ask for it. Any abuse could then have the status removed from the abuser.[/list]Also the layout of said reviews, we were thinking along the lines of
High Points - Example "Great dialogue, custom group was brilliant"
Low Points - Example "why all the pink? the custome group was a blur of pink"
Synopsis - Something like the tl;dr that is currently being used in the review threads.
Played with - What AT/Build the reviewer used, if they used a team, etc.
Main Review - the big text block.
Ok this is probably my last post about the site, but it is an update post.
Added editing and deletion of comments. You can only add and delete comments that you have left.
Comments are now linked to the mission arc by version. This doesn't do anything special yet but is there for future developments.
Comments can now be previewed before the final submission. This can be skipped via a checkbox on the page.
User menu options have been moved to the side menu.
The top menu has been deemed superflous and removed. This also solves a problem of what to do with the menu when there are more items on it.
There is now a useful links entry under the main menu. At present this only has MA links, but can be used to display useful links to other areas of the site and offsite connections.
Mission list has been tweaked to make the titles and author names fit a bit better. It avoids wrapping on some of the longer names.
Random mission offering has been added to the top of the mission view list. At present this is just a random selection, but plans are afoot for this bit.
That.s the lot I think.
Also still need info about reviews. I am thinking that reviewers should be a privilleged role, only had 2 opinions so far though .
i have now signed up and you can message me if you like. khaine said something about branding irons and recharge sockets. my account lists as brand new i have been using khaines fir a while now so i am not a noob just a new account

Hiya, welcome and thanks for all the work put into the site!
well khaine did a fair bit he denies it but he did it. we got a load of new toys to add to the site as soon as we can work some bits out. the dumb bit is that the difficult bit is easy and the easy bit is stupidly hard.
as i like doing hints let me just say that file uploads are involved and a PIA
I like the random idea.
Some that I have been throwing around with Emo.
Missions that share tags/options like the ones you have submitted.
Missions that share tags/options like ones you have rated highly.
Missions from authors that you have rated highly.
When you log in the user page has a "why not try?" type mission that is selected from the oldest arcs not reviewed/longest since review/just oldest.
