External Review and Mission Listings Site
May I recommend this website.
I'd like to do the same! Great resource, and great potential for in depth reviews
I am happy with the site! Very happy!
One thing though, it says there has been a review added to one of my missions - how do I look at it?
I think you click on your mission and the comments will be on the bottom
Ah thanks Days - that makes sense.
Post from Emo that he has asked me to pass on. (one day I will get him to register on the forums or at least let me give out his global name )
Hello,
Thanks to everyone who has registered, to all who have commented and Judgement_Dave for his excellent ideas for options on the mission arcs.
Anyway, that's starting to sound like an oscar speech. There's a new site update just gone up, and without wanting to do a patch notes post this is the new stuff.
<ul type="square">[*]I have added favourites to the site so you can keep track of arcs you really like. [*]When you log in any favourites and comments left since you last logged in will appear on that page. [*]New mission options in the edit page. These are optional and at present don't do much, the intention is to make these part of the search options so you can find arcs easier. [*]The default view for the missions is to put the newest missions added to the site to the top.[*]Fixed the pagination from busting the sort options.[/list]
There's some other stuff there too but that is hidden at the mo till I am happy with it.
Enjoy.
Emo.
I will also add that there are some other stuff being worked on for missions specifically, but we are still debating the best way to offer them up through the site.
There was a couple of problems with the new update, these have now been corrected. Code release and hangovers don't work well. Thanks to Judgement_Dave and Master_Zaprobo for their assistance with the fixes.
Just registered without any trouble at all .
One tiny, wee thing, on Opera and Firefox the Ratings box for a mission is a little small for the text within it and so the bottom border cuts through it.
Example here
Well i registered as well but whenever i login i can get to missions page, instead i re-open page from my favorites link and everything became okay.
Could you screen shot it please? I am using firefox 3.0.8 and it looks ok. IE buggers it up from time to time though. Not tried it in Opera, or chrome for that matter.

Do you mean your own mission list? If so it is linked from the user page link at the top of the page.
Digs around for 10 year old copies of Lynx and netscape navigator... Mua ha ha ha!

Netscape navigator, now there is a blast from the past. Although it does live on in spirit. Now if you had said you were going to fire up a 386 with IE 1 on it.

My 386 blew several years back.. though my 8088 laptop still works. I'd need to whip up a quick browser though...

Ah now I see. Ok will see what we can do. Thanks for the info.
Can I suggest to turn this to sticky?
I am copying my post from the 'new thread' I started, because I hadn't noticed this one
A short tutorial:
Click on register in left part of screen to create an account. After creating an account you can click on login to add arcs and reviews for arcs to the site.
Above the list of arcs, there's a button: user page, where you can add your arc, edit all information about your arcs (like author comment, arc ID etc) or remove them from the site.
In the list of arcs, you can read the comment from the author and people who have played it, by clicking somewhere in the line of the arc. At the bottom of the comments you can click to add your own comment.
Below the list of arcs, you can choose to sort the list on various fields. One interesting sorting option is 'last comment' + 'ascending' which puts all arcs without comments (other than from the author) on top, followed by those with the oldest comments.
Note: the field 'extreme' refers to an arc which has a difficulty high above the ordinary, suitable for players who are looking for an extreme challenge.

I already did to Avatea and got an entry in the ma guides sticky at the top.
In addition to your mini guide let me add that if you have any ideas or suggestions to make the site better, make them on here or to me, no matter how small as all suggestions are gratefully received.
Also damn fine idea to have a how to. Thanks DonSaint
Edit:
Note to self. Add a FAQ section to the MA.
Ok FAQ added just need suggestions for information to include. I have also added your tutorial to it DonSaint.
No FAQ suggestions?
Anyway, Site update.
Added date searches to the search page.
Added the extra options to the search page.
Added tags to a mission, These are freeform text and can be anything you like (keep it clean though). These can then be searched on by typing them in.
More to follow.
IMO it would be a good idea to allow reviewers to edit their reviews and for authors to comment against reviews.
Why? I'll tell you why...
* I realised after posting my 1st comment that there was a minor point that I'd wanted to mention but forgot.. wasn't worth a second review but would have been worth adding to the original.
* Part of the feedback process means that arcs may change - an updated review/rating may be better in this case than an additional review leaving the original (now erroneous) review.
* An author may want to question/clarify something raised in a review (e.g. one of my reviews stating it wasn't soloable due to an EB, where my main comeback is that the mob is an EB so can be downgraded to a boss if soloing by playing lowest challenge level).

I think the FAQ is sufficient. The site is not extremely complicated. I agree with the edit comments option.
URL: http://www.cityofguides.com/ma/missions.php
City of Guides has got a fledgling resource that could prove very helpful for those trying to find good solid storyarcs and missions among the weight of arcs still being tested/refined.
One of the key features (so far) is that the arcs can be publicly reviewed and marked if they have EB's/AV's in them.
I recommend everyone who has an arc in the ready to play category (pobody's nerfect!) post their arc over there so it can be reviewed/advertised.
