Solo scrapper - what is best?

I have always struggled to enjoy scrappers but after a break i am feeling now might be the time. However - what powersets are good for solo play? I have made a bs/regen but before i invest time in him are there powersets that will give better solo survivability?

BS/Regen will probably just plain irritate with all the redraw. Regen needs you using those clickies constantly, so it isn't friendly to weapon primaries. Broadsword is also a painfully slow starter, it really doesn't feel effective enough until you get Headsplitter at 32 and then slot it...so actually 33. I wouldn't recommend it as something to keep you interested. I would personally recommend Claws or Fire. Claws is unrelenting carnage, you get to click your powers so many times it's pretty much the machinegun of Scrapper primaries, it'll keep you busy. Fire just....hurts. A lot.

For solo, best bet is probably Willpower, it doesn't have any real holes so you'll be able to go up against almost anything without being worried about your defence. Pretty much any primary will do, Scrapper primaries are fairly indiscriminate when it comes to committing brutal murder.

What khorak says is correct, you will redraw a lot but a Regen with double or even triple stacked parry can be a formidable toon. It's just a shame that by double stacking it you're really cutting back on the DPS.

BS/Willpower is good as BS is quite end heavy so having QR and Stamina can be useful. BS/Shield is good fun, I have one at 25 and although she's a little end heavy atm I can forsee great things with the +Dam boost you get!

You aren't cutting dps if you slot parry for damage.

Thanks guys - will think up a char for Claws/Willpower and give that a go. I would like a lvl 50 scrapper - even if it is just to complete the set

Broadsword/Regen is actually quite potent. The primary provides some good immediate damage and is well balanced with a mix of single target and AoE attacks. The -Def effect allows for slotting of some handy Proc IOs (if you can find/afford them). The redraw caused by Regen isn't so much of a problem because the two attacks immediately following a redraw squoosh(technical term) together to make up for the initial delay. Early on, i.e. before you get Disembowel at 26, you may find a quick knockdown attack like Air Sup' handy for some extra mitigation.

You really have a choice with Parry, it can be "just another attack" or some extra protection for fighting EBs. A bit of frankenslotting can make it handy for both roles.

Anyone can go Willpower and more or less cruise to 50. Regen requires a bit of thought before the inevitable charge or counter charge. You also need your wits about you mid fight as your well being is your own responsibility rather than a battery of toggles.

Claws/WP was the most fun scrapper to level out of all the ones I've played. I think its a good choice. Its not my most used of them now its at 50, but the journey was fantastic fun

They could well be looking at DPA.

On topic, imo regens are better paired with lower action time attacks as you might need to click heal self within an action time and by the time the chance came around you could be dead.

I kind of like Dual Blades/Willpower for soloing myself. You can control the enemies positions and cap out Vitals more often which is v nice damage.

WP is easy mode. Log in, toggles on off you go. Mix with a primary of your choice.
Fire, katana, claws anything really.

I find it to be the same with sr. Toggle on, scrapper lock, exit, repeat.

Katana/WP or BS/WP is probably your strongest choice if you plan to solo most of the way to 50 and aren't going to get IOs.

Divine Avalanche/Parry just adds to WPs already incredible solo survival and it should be near impossible to bite the dust. I enjoyed my MA/WP scrapper, it was a very smooth ride all the way to 50.

MA/WP has is a strong solo choice, because with small number of opponents you can keep most of the enemies either KB'd/KD'd or stunned while fighting.

SR is a great choice if you plan to get IOs at some point, but WP is stronger out of the box.

Are we talking about soloing AVs or just random missions and eventualy EBs? For the latest, any combo will do.

Nt favorite scrapper is Broadsword/Shield.
Other ones i've enjoyed been Dual Blades / Willpower. Claws / Willpower and Martial Arts / Super Reflez.

Anything with low downtime, yet few clickies for a more relaxed playstyle.

You know, Willpower.

And if you plan to solo, pick single target focused primaries like Dark Melee, rather than AoE focused primaries like Spines.

For regular mish soloing with cheap builds, Fire/WP, DM/WP or even Claws/WP

Spines/WP is a bit trickier for soloing but will allow you farming nicely at lvl 50 if you wish to do so.

If you want to make expensive builds DM/SR, DM/Invuln

DB/WP was fun from 1-50, still is... a very survivable toon indeed.
