City of Parrots??
It seems to me that these boards are turning into a parrot cage!
every time someone replies to a new post, several other people simple repeat the answer in other words...
then someone adds a little extra to the reply and, again, someone repeats this in their post...
isnt there a better way to get a high post count?
a very good example is this post where i (for once) made the first reply, only to see several other people repeat exactly what i wrote...
isnt my reply good enough? i can understand why some people wants to add something extra to the reply, but i just dont get it when one or more people repeats everything everyone else has already written.

I really should do something about this signature.

Ahem... Anyways... Perhaps people tend to just read the OP and not the replies? I know that I sometimes do that.

It seams that this parrot cage is turning in to an internet forum.
How come you've only noticed this now?
It's not exactly a new phenomenon (do-doo-de-do-do), nor a particularly bad one.

I had a parrot when I was younger.
It had broadband connection in its cage.
To be fair, in that thread, the 2nd reply was posted at the same time as yours.
I've noticed a few like this recently where there's been 2 or 3 answers within a few minutes - and that's perfectly understandable. Heck I think I had one where I replied pretty verbosely in a reply that took about 10 min to compose only to find someone had given a 5 word answer that fitted 90% of the time.
But it also happens with any thread over about 4 posts long as many are too lazy to read a thread when their input is obviously required - much easier/lazier to read the first couple of posts and maybe the last couple of posts and then reply (regardless of whether the rest of the thread has given a full discussion of the points to be made).
What can you expect in an age when people use txt speak all the time, everyone is told that their views are important and even the BBC seems to believe that the news should be delivered in 60 second chunks?

I hate parrots.
I've just read that post you linked to, Sapphic posted at the same time as you, so wouldn't have seen your post. That was the only one that repeated your info, as I posted offering to help transfere inf, and then golden phoenix and I offered advice on security.

Oy Pretty Polly - I made that point a whole minute before you. Wasn't my reply good enough?

Now I've definitely heard that one before!
I have sometimes spent over an hour writing a forum post. Not these short little ones that I write now but back in the day when I could fill up a book with one offering. I try not to do that anymore. No one reads them properly anyway so now I make replies as short as I can, whilst still pandering to my love of verbosity and what little comic talent I have left.
Since someone had to say it... This Parrot Is Dead!

It's not dead - it's merely pining for the mods.

'E's not pinin'! 'E's passed on! This parrot is no more! He has ceased to be! 'E's expired and gone to meet 'is maker! 'E's a stiff! Bereft of life, 'e rests in peace! If you hadn't nailed 'im to the perch 'e'd be pushing up the daisies! 'Is metabolic processes are now 'istory! 'E's off the twig! 'E's kicked the bucket, 'e's shuffled off 'is mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisibile!! THIS IS AN EX-PARROT!!
