Desired maps for the MA?

Inspired by this thread right about here.

I understand that we're meant to have access to a great many maps (possibly all. I haven't done my homework.), but there are some that are rare in the current game, if not unique.

I personally would love the Atlas fashion show instance that you come across in the Smoke and Mirrors TF. I've a fashion designer character who'd hire a few EBs to model for her.

Architects, architects, have ye any desired maps?

I like the spooky hospital map featuring Malaise and Mother Mayhem which I know is just a normal abandoned office with different furniture but I actually think its really creepy

The university/midnight map. I find it's more officey than the office map and looks less boring.

The Freakshow hideout/office map, it's veeery nice and will fit in with so many ideas.


I am the Blaster, I have filled the role of Tank, Controller and Defender
Sometimes all at once.

All Vanguard-specific maps are quite good (Instanced Vanguard base, Rikti tunnels with that big cave, ruined PortalCorp...)

Others that I'd like to see used more... Meteor-struck Atlas Park from the Orouboros initiation. Troll rave. Frozen forest and cave from winter events (Unlikely, but...)

Would like to see the CoT lab invasion map with the melted elevators, even though its a slight difference it really does make the map standout.

It would be nice to have some outdoor instance areas from the Rogue Isles not just Paragon. The PTS system from CAP, Pyramid Area from St Martial, Docklands area from Sharkhead and the area in Grandville that features in the last mission of the STF. I would love to see these

Which is why I've been hoping that even if a more fully featured map editor doesn't hit MA v2.0 that we'll at least get a few skins and lighting/environmental options for existing maps.

Just changing the look of a well known map can make it feel off-kilter and new (for the first run through at least). Heck - even the first few times I hit CoV offices they felt different to the CoH offices and the only difference was carpet/decoration. I imagine we'd get the same effect with offices using the tech_war_torn and magic_war_torn skins...

Now if some of the existing maps could be re-spun with the entrance/exit moved as well, there'd be newer feeling maps with little overhead.

I think we also need a quick burst of odd/interesting maps before MA mission players get sick to death of every single mission arc including 2 or 3 previously-unique maps.

But like MA in general, I'm hoping that letting users use virtually all the maps and write a lot of missions will give the devs more time to come up with the really-interesting new missions that utilise new maps and tricks.

Yep, Safeguard / Mayhem style maps for Rogue Island zones would be on my wishlist too.

I'd imagine that the ones currently ingame such as the Cap Au one from the "Protect the Transmitter" RWZ mission, the Sharkshead Industrial one from the RWZ destroy the bombs (and the villains Destroy the Ring mish) and the Grandville one you mentioned should be there but I don't know if there are currently instance maps for bits of Mercy, Port Oakes, Nerva and St Martial ingame (does one of the Johnny Sontana missions have an instance of St Martial in it?).

Whilst the original may be in there, (from memory) I'd imagine it could be worth doing another copy without some of the debris from machines surfacing.

TBH that is the sort of map that I can easily imagine being unavailable as it may be set up specially with the machines/generators.

Yes. Around one side (North iirc) of the pyramid, and extending to the shore opposite.

Could do with the casino district and fairground - yes I know we have fairgrounds in Paragon... but.. but..

Aren't they just glowies / objectives though, I thought they'd be stripped out.

There's a vague itching memory at the back of my head (it's probably a flea Baldrick) that the same map is used in another mish too, a non-RWZ one. Not sure what though.

As far as I can tell (from memory) - The mole machines/generators are more like destroyable objects - i.e. when/if destroyed they appear as destroyed versions of themselves and don't de-spawn as mobs would.

Even if you take the destructable element out I think the chassis of the generator trucks and the surrounds of the mole machines will possibly be just background - which could leave the map looking decidely odd without the targettable portions!

And there's a fairground in St Martial? That goes onto my list too so.

I'd like the Eden Map & Sewer Trial map too, just so I could see em for once (my one attempt at leading an Eden Trial was defeated before it began thanks to the level bug starting it).

Ooh, a Striga instance map (the creepy bog bits) would be nice too. And a Dark Astoria instance too. And a pony!

IIRC - we can buy some unique map's with the skiball tickets (or was it with rewards from getting good reviews) either way there should be some change from the usual tilesets.

From Memory these are the following outdoor villain maps I can remember playing (I prefer the villain ones I think they just look better):

There are three small maps of Mercy - two in Kalindas arc and one in Matthew Burkes arc. These are a very small part of the docks, the bit by the clocktower and part of the helicopter base. These maps are small but easily identifiable as Mercy.

I cant remember there being anything in Port Oakes - except a map round by the dry dock area of a ship that I think appears in Mister Bocors Arc (one where you have to defeat Sea Witch).

Cap has the PTS system and two parts of Aeon City - one mentioned before featuring destroy the generators mission and the WSPDR building and the second is in the STF which includes the main square the globe featuring Aeon Corp.

Sharkhead has a few maps - one of the big industrial factory where the cage consortium hang out and one by the docks where you have to take care of some striking dockworkers and part of the Freakshows hideout, looks like a shanty town. Cant remember what its called but usually a good map for freakshow and miners. There is also the bit round by the Oil Rig - where the skyraiders usually hang out

Nerva has one map where you fight the Back Alley Brawler its kind of in a square area - cant remember the name.

St. Martial has an area just outside the Pyramid Casino and a second area where the wailers hang out which I think is part of the North East area of the map.

Grandville has, of course, the part of Spider City in the STF and the island where you destroy the cables (also featured on STF).

Needless to say I would like ALL these maps included.

But my wish list does not stop there. I would also like to see as mission maps:

Mercy Island - The fort where you start off, Ghost Widows tower, the main part of Mercy Town
Port Oakes - Docklands, Arena, the Arachnos Building, Villa Montrose, Fort Hades (to name but a few)
Cap Au Diable - The Airport ("Stop Someone Escaping by Plane" missions)
Sharkhead - Potters Field both the Graveyard and the Mining Bit. Also the Villa area (cant remember the name - tends to be a few family and skyraiders there though)
St Martial - The Carnivals Circus, the "Strip" with all the Casinos on (Vegas Anyone)
Grandville - Part of the slums by the Television / Westin Phelps contact. Part of the north end of the map where the Arachnoids hang out.

I know thats a huge wishlist and probably I am expecting far too much. Its just my little ideas.

This reminded me that there's at least one in the north of Nerva (Primeva or similar) where you have to defeat a longbow hero stood on some stone structure/monument after going through the water.

The old paragon dance party map/warehouse might be nice to have, as you get one mission in it at L3 or something and thats about the only time you see it.

The map with all the Tsso furniture with the budahs and the like might be handy to .


Both are basic warehouses with jsut a few tweaks here and there

Id also like the destroyed crey lab from villians arc.

This is the map that features as part of the valentines mission - so it is already a forcefield zoned map / outdoor instance.

I'm hoping for a wide variety - the screenshots that they've shown already show a mini map of what the map looks like - how is this going to work with a map with multiple floors such as Office and Lab?

Plus I would like the warehouse re-works for the Infected (the one with the gushing green water in the last room) and the Council warehouse (as per the early hero arc - Natural is it?)
