Mission Architect sneak peek
Interesting. Although i'm hoping people are at least creative with this [/blindoptimism]
Well lets hope if someone decides to put Lusca in their mission, they remember to include some water for it to sit in. Don't really like the idea of GM's in missions to be honest, make the things too difficult and people simply won't bother with them.
I doubt any GM's in missions will be GM class... Probably an AV at best...

Or as they appear ingame now as monster class.
@Damz Find me on the global channel Union Chat. One of the best "chat channels" ingame!
Apparently custom bosses and allies are the reason it took so long to get out the door.
Frankly, it would have been pretty dull without it - I am so writing myself and Doomie The Doom Kitten in as NPC allies. How many lines of sarcasm are you allowed?
Is it time for the dance of joy yet?
after reading that long post on MA.... i very disappointed in some of the restriction they got in placed . i was looking forward to ambushes and cutscenes.... well i need to wait for what set in stone before i make my final opion
Hmmm can we write the boss things?
You know what they say upon seeing you and while you battle them....

It would be silly to NOT be able to do that, don't you think?

Hmmm missed the npc dialogue line, man the us boards have some shoddy HCI.

Well there was this snippet cactus

Writing well is always a challenge, and this won't be any different. You will be able to write breifings, NPC dialog, clues, debriefings, and souveniers.

Again this is not 100% confirmed but seeing as the compiled notes from the guys who attended herocon it is however interesting to see what they have come up with so far...
And I agree with FFM about the GMs availability.
As I stated the GM line was funny but as the OP stated to my agreement, its extremely doubtful that will make it to MA ....would have been great however to have seen that player-CW king ally versus 6 other CW kings...if just for pure comedy value

They might leave it in for arc finale's? Nothing like some AV / GM smackdown to round off a good day's fighting...
Especially if that AV / GM happens to be Rikti...

Why was it that doesnt surprise me Tsumi, I cant wait to see your arcs
1- Tsumi v the Rikti horde
2- Tsmui v the Rikti scum
3- Tsumi v the Rikti invasion
3- Tsumi v the Rikti workers union
4- Tsumi v Moment from the malta (well he looked like a rikti...kill eeeeet!!)
Well you get the picture, your obsession with those flap nosed aliens is a little ....."intense" at times my friend (but in a good way)

i just hope that i am not stuck witch the basic enemy's, i like to make my own race with my own base and own story, not some half baked copy/paste trick out of the library.
I wouldn't count on being able to create factions... Unique bosses sure, but a complete faction would be WAY beyond the scope of such a tool...

Although to be honest I'm surprised it's taken them this long to implement a "half baked copy/paste trick out of the library".
Damn slacker devs.

Sorry if I didn't make it clear; I was being a little sarcy about sorudo's casual dismissal of all of the dev's efforts so far as being a "half baked copy/paste trick".
The problem with cutscenes is, if I recall what was said during Omega Sektor and on the boards correctly, it takes a lot of effort for the devs, y'know, the people who make the game, to make cutscenes. Even demo-editing requires going through the files and basically typing in code the positions of characters, emotes, actions and so forth, as well as power effects and dialogue.
I would hope that eventually things like cut-scenes are able to be added to the game as I find they add immensely to a great mission, the Statesman TF being a prime example with old Dr. Aeon.
It could be done as simply as you designing the cut scene offline adn the Architect allowing you to add it as an upload, so to speak? I dunno, not a programmer but I'm sure they'll find a way
We built this city on Rock and Roll!
Well if I recall correctly BaBs words were "I wouldnt wish that system on the players" regarding the cutscenes, but in the post I linked to the OP mentioned that too
He also commented elsewhere that in his opinion a lot of people would probably react with negativity regarding MA without realising the work under the hood.
Myself? ill be happy with editing the bosses only, I understand some folks wanting their own factions but I can see the reasons as to why not...double edged sword that one inmho.
My biggest point is the fact over the map picks, if as in the post - it does include the unique maps along with the 1000 that is rumoured to be in there - ill be happy, i'd love the map from jonny sonatas personal hell vill side/the carnie warehouse or the old disco one that used to be the nightclub before PD...etc etc

Which just goes to show that you can't please everybody all the time. I hate those cut scenes with a passion. They just bring the entire game to a sudden halt for what feels like an age. if there was a way to avoid them in the game, I'd do it.

A lot of work for something that not everybody appreciates anyway
Me for instance!
any word on the ability to customise the map or if we can actually set teh spawn point for enemies instead of "front" "middle" and "back" of the map ?
Found this on the US forums from a player who went to herocon, makes for a very interesting read.
Mission Architect notes
[ QUOTE ]
Enemies and allies can be pretty much anything you can already fight somewhere in the game. At the time of Herocon, even Giant Monsters were available for use in Architect missions. I inferred that Giant Monsters may change before launch however. One member of the panel commented that the day before they had fought against 6 AV Clockwork Kings with another one helping them in an Architect mission!
[/ QUOTE ]
This ^^ made me chuckle and I agree with the OP that it will change prior to launch but was funny to read regardless
