[EDIT]: actually, what I would really like (and what I have been noticing more and more recently for some bizarre reason)... is this ambient humming drone as background noise in all zones, its like a constant bass drone, a plateau for all the other ambient noises to sit upon i think is its supposed basis... whatever it is, it is really annoying and in my opinion unnecessary, anyone else notice this noise?
[/ QUOTE ]
i do, i hear it all the time around atlas park when i have the IG sound at full, maybe it's a sound bug in the system.
[/ QUOTE ]
Just a random thought (and probably entirely wrong) but - warwall's ?
[/ QUOTE ]
Hmm... I do think something in the sound changes when a raid starts. Could be the walls. That adds a whole new irritating aspect to their existence.
[/ QUOTE ]
That would make sense- There is a kinda "power-down" noise when a Rikti raid starts...

And now the Devs say they have been holding back on just what the engine is capable of, maybe if they let rip with the current game-engine features It'll keep the wolves from the door for a year or two with regard to the mounting requests for an engine overhaul or redux.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm not too worried about a new graphics engine per se.... What we DO need, is better character MODELS. The current ones just... Suck.
Oh, and better faces too plx!
[/ QUOTE ]
Agreed new character models please and dare i say it animated hair too

Yes, this would be good

Oddly, the *most* beautiful thing I've seen in-game... was a bug.
For a few memorable days last year, the fog lifted in Dark Astoria. And underneath the blanket of evil was a wonderfully-designed, beautifully atmospheric map with rich detail, a working city... just abandoned. Really gorgeous, and much, MUCH creepier without the fog. (Think trading a grainy Romero movie for the painful sharpness of 28 Days Later...)
TBH, if I was going to ask for anything, I'd ask for a slight concept shift from the devs about DA - remove the fog, but lock it to an eternal moonlight night...
[/ QUOTE ]
I think the fog adds more character to DA - which it needs, as its buildings really need to be older and more gothic

REALLY needs a revamp
Also, is it possible to make the graphics look good while using less spec? As in, better graphics but they run more easily, and could be run on a laptop, etc?
Probably not....well, thats the Birthday sorted at least
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

The buildings in most of the CoH zones need to show more variety in historical architecture, as they do in The Rogue Isles.
I know there have been Rikti Invasions but the whole city was not totalled, some buildings would of survived and would help make the cityscapes less uniform and bland.
Whilst the city's themselves are actually well done, the main two things that spoil it are the war walls, and the players charecters themselves.
Whilst i appreciate the game is getting on a bit in terms of graphics, the player models are the worst part of the game as far i see, i mean, even WoW has animated hair.
Speaking of WoW, its also been announced recently that they are planning a full graphical update, I cant find the post currently but i will post the linky if i find it.
Animated hair would be the best thing really, but also, i still think female models have manly legs as well its always annoyed me, and the current facial editing options arent really a lot and the faces always look flat.

I'd forgotten all about that, yes bring back unfoggy DA, it looked miles better
[/ QUOTE ]
I dont know about it being made permanent. I remember the first time I went into DA and it scared the heck out of me. I was trying to follow a friend who had SJ and I got lost in the buildings and the fog, got held in a rock cage, managed to break free and just get out before I died. The rush that gave me was much the same as the first time I saw the chasm in The Hollows. I suspect seeing DA without the fog again would wear off just as quickly.
Maybe there could just be wind blowing through there every now and again that gets rid of the fog. An event of sorts.

Well, my main has pretty feminine legs and I get some pretty good effects out of the facial sliders. One of my toons' faces is actually unrecognizeable from the original facial model until the right sliders are applied.
Considering that the game is as old as it is, it's only the most recent batch of games (AoC, WAR maybe, haven't looked at it) that have better character models and character customisation.
Of course, if they were to improve it, I'd be ecstatic...

I do have to say the first time I ended up in GV with my spanky new 'puter and saw the towering spire, all wonderfully blurred, with some nice shading effects on recluse's statue, all with his inane rants going on in the screens to either side of me, I was quite impressed...sometimes you forget you are playing a four year old game......
Oh and in reply to the st martial aspect, the looming lights of the Giza in the background is impressive, just wish there were similar sights on blueside, apart from the mental waterfalls in the SS and the wonderful revamped locales in some oro missions (atlas catwalk show - the 5th column plateau on the last mish of the TF) and others such as the titan hangar in Hess' tf, I pray for more diverse maps such as these for missions than the regular cave/office/warehouse rehashes.
Plus on a side note its been a year since I ran a full char all the way on villains, whats the mission in that huge cavern where there is a formation that looks like the lower mandible of some giant beast?...that impressed me mightily and havnt seen anything close aside from the vastness of the interior of the eden cavern......

I think WoW (as does WAR), has an exaggerated 'breathing' animation on its models, including the hair, making the characters move slightly when they stand still in an effort to make them seem more alive - I've always thought of it as a Roobarb effect and it looks totally stupid on great armoured hulks if you ask me...

It's this one, which I think is a stunning TF overall ad very entertaining. I remember my first run on it; I actually thought the slumbering beastie would awaken and the team would have to fight it... Damn... Still, grand SF.
There is also this story-arc which is set in the same map eventually, and also good fun.
I sympathise somewhat with your hungoverness, I haven't been able to sleep since yesterday morning.

But it is a human right, but WoW doesn't have it, so therefore WoW should be banned!
Some hair models on WoW have animated parts. I know the ponytail on my Human Mage bounces about as he runs, and a Dwarf Priest with a certain hairstyle gets animated hair as they cast spells. It's all floaty.
Other than a few specific bits of hair, the rest isn't animated.

1. Not "looks like", it IS the Maw of the Leviathan.
2. The TF His_Hairiness mentioned has the Eye in its last map, not the Maw. And (as I recall) the Eye does awaken.
3. This map also shows up in Makos patron arc(s).
Oh and one of my favorite mission maps is the one with "isles" of CoT ruins floating in the air that shows up on some high level redside arcs.
I do not suffer from altitis, I enjoy every character of it.
