Starting to Scrap...

Hi Guys

I would like to have one of each basic Hero AT at lvl 50. The only remaiing one is scrapper. So far I have tried:

Kat/Regen
DB/WP
Dark/Dark (twice)
Fire/Fire (cos I have a fire/fire tank)

All of which I have found kinda 'meh' to play. I don't kmnow if it is just me who is unsuited to scrapping (although as a tank fan that surprises me) or maybe I havenout found 'the' combo for me.

I would be interested to hear what power combinations other people have found to be fun from a 'charge ahead n destroy' perspective

I currently have a BS/Regen, a DB/WP and an MA/Regen.

Of those, the Regens are the most reliable to play - and MA/Regen has the kind of entertaining moves and variety of effects that make it very appealing.

BS/Regen, however, with a few Recharges in there, can unleash the kind of ALMIGHTY EVIL-CRUSHING DAMAGE that's hard to top.

Is it time for the dance of joy yet?

I find my Spines/SR pretty tough and much, much fun. Soft capped Scrapper is the way to go imo. It's all about smashing attack buttons and dodging stuff 90% of the time.

Spines/WP or Claws/WP, both are nice scrappers and easy going for a first time scrapper, but I'd vouch for giving your DM/WP a chance, specially with the new DM tweaks on I13.

DM/DA and DM/SR are my personal favourites though, but harder to handle than the previous I mentioned.

1+ for spine/wp my 2nd 50, it's a tight build though.

I suggest you try super reflexes, i too like you always said meh to scrappers, until i made a fire/SR one.

Was skeptic about defense based toons, but it's actually quite fun.

Cool thanks guys - it seems to be a toss up between Spines or BS and WP or SR.

Is SR anything like Ninjitsu Stalker secondary?

IIRC Ninjitsu is a mix of median Defence with some toys (caltrops, rubbish self heal, blinding powder). It basically reminds you of a Ninja set. On the other hand, SR is all about great Defence and Quickness (+20% rech bonus).

I'm not sure if you can soft cap a Ninjitsu Stalker. At least, not as easily as SR.

I would say it depends on your playstyle, whether you dont mind running endless toggles (wp etc) and whether or not you like quick end low attacks (claws) or slow yet high burst attacks (BS) your going to be going in full steam most of the time so it is all dependant on how you wish to be taking the mobs down.

Personally out of the three scraps I have (two are on my sig) I absolutely adore my BS/WP the last two attacks on BS have stupid burst damage...anyone who has managed to hit a double crit with headsplitter through two enemies will agree it is nigh on a religious experience
And the WP isnt as bad as I originally thought for toggle economy QR/STM is enough to keep you in long drawn out fights...if there was a drawback to this AT combo is that if you exemp for TFs etc I find myself crying like a baby if I dont have my beloved headsplitter /disembowel combo

But again this is drawing off my experiences, plus with me working on his build I have managed to bump his regen past 700+ % and nearly cap his Res/def bear in mind im not an uber player like many out there im only 15 months in so far...but if you wish I can pm you the mids code for you to see for yourself.

Anyway my best advice is to play around untill you figure what style you want to be smashing those mobs around in

I am getting the feeling BS/WP will be enjoyable as I have a char theme in mind for that one. I love high DMG and it sounds like it would suit my 'brute force & ignorance' playstyle

If you could PM me the Mids code that would be great thanks Stryke!

BS/SR is a lovely combo.
Anything/WP is probably good to play. Personally I found Claw/WP my most fun character to level. Its not my favourite scrapper at level 50, but it was the most fun to get there

If you want to be different make an /invulnerability scrapper. Not many around and they actually are good at 50 despite people mocking scrapper /invuln.

Thank god, for a moment then I thought I was gonna get carted of to the same funny farm as FFM for a moment there....theres hope for me yet

So that gives some love for my invul brute then ..though to reroll back theres something to be said for WP, I think its the general ease of it, no real activations aside from SoW (which coincidentally works wonders - not as a god mode - but more as a giant BF) so its simply a toggle up/enter/smash all/luagh collective behinds off/exit/rinse and repeat

All we need now for scrapps is SS

Edited for accuracy

I echo your sentiments mate, how dare they expect me to actually work for my wage

But aye its actually quite a cheap build in comparison to others considering the numbers you get out of it, but enough digressing ill pm it tonight but give me feedback on what you think, if its good enough I may even publically post it, in my own experiences I have had many a fun night wading through mobs without even getting a nick of damage, so just look through it and give me any criticism

I love my Katana/SR. I can't recommend a soft capped SR scrapper highly enough.

My first scrapper above level 40 was BS/Regen, my second was BS/SR on which I hit fifty. BS/Regen was great fun to play and sometimes out-tank the tanker in a team. Reflexes was as fun for different reasons, as not-getting-hit most of the time is always smirk-worthy. Willpower's a powerhouse and very fire-and-forget. Dark Armour resists every damage type but you need all the resist toggles to get the protection, making it thirsty on Endurance. Invulnerable gives the best Smashing and Lethal resistance of course and looks to get much better with the tweaking (note to self: Log test and see what it's like). I've not tried Firey Aura yet.

Invuls are stupidly good at 50, I'm pretty sure that its muct improved on my WP for most things (obviously not endurance)

BS/DA

You know you want to be a fluffy black cloud hacking stuff up with a big sword.....

Although don't expect it to all be roses leveling it up..

I had an idea for a BS/DA, then I saw the cost for the IOs I'd need to make that idea become real....... I'm gonna make an MA/DA instead
