I´m a casual pvp´er and i object to most changes
suppression and DR are borked beyond relief.
My scrapper is squishier than a blaster i get perma mezzed by group and SoW wont help me since i get no protection and will suppress mez resistance
My trollers pets does around 50 damage fully slotted for damage
My blaster is ok´ish but get hit by DR alot

Its strange how PVPers moan that not enough people PVP. Yet we have 2 in this thread showing exactly the attitude of elitism that actively discourages people to try PVP.

You saved me a post there.

btw - On the odd occasion that I've gone there I've usually found the broadcast in PvP zones enough to put me off even though it's never (to my knowledge) been directed at me.

It's like walking into a bar or shop and it's full of gobby, rude kids who are shouting insults at each other. Even if they aren't shouting insults at me I'll probably leave because it feels unfriendly and there are much better places to be.

In complete respect, this is going to happen in any MMO game with PvP involved, people are competitive, its part of human nature, and over the internet people can say what they want in no fear of a physical beating.

PvE is completely different by the nature of the game, you step into the role of aiding the people you are playing with, there is no direct confrontation.

PvP is completly different, by nature as soon as you step into a zone/arena match your emotions trigger a competitive streak, you are in there to beat other people..end of.

I think people need to accept that when you PvP on any MMO you will experience hostility, nothing can be done about.. accept to do what i try to do and just not type anything on broadcast at all.

Now i dont personally remove broadcast from my chat tab, as i enjoy the competitive banter, this is an option for people who dont like confrontation, remove all sources of it.

I am still currently patching the test server, but hope to test out the new PvP this evening, but from reading the changes and listening to friends opinions, i can honestly say this is a huge change that is not welcome.

A couple of the ideas i think are fantastic, the range debuff in taunts for example and the changes to APP/PPP's for villians are imo a few things that are needed to somewhat balance the playing field.

Recreating a system that the majority of the PvP playerbase have been playing from as early as i4 is not the way to go about.

But like i said i have not yet actually tested the changes, after a good few hours of trying it out tonight, i will post how i feel about them.

I wrote this post because I feel that a lot of so-called PVP players are moaning either without trying it or their FOTM builds dont win like they did. ED all over again.

[/ QUOTE ]

Then you would be wrong pvpers have been testing this build on the test server since it went out.

[ QUOTE ]
Oh and by the way, why on earth would new people join PVP? I post saying positive things about the changes and the vampiric PVP community jumps in and sucks the positivity out, God help any new person who likes PVP.

[/ QUOTE ]

What is wrong with some people pvpers WANT more players in the zones but what most of the people posting on these forums are saying is that the changes will fail to get any new players into pvp, even the non pvp community seem to think that the changes have broken the system.

Now you can have your point of view of course, you like it and thats good but please dont think that the rest of the pvp community are out there moaning with out testing as you are way of the mark

Maybe what we want is someone to prove us wrong and that we are not as good as we think we are but all we get is people moaning about how unfair pvp is.

And what do the devs do take a system that yes had problems and turn it into a master work of rubbish.

Change is good but change like this we can do without.

I think melee based characters shouldn't get mezzed but instead incur a penalty on DPS through something else. Ranged damage should be modified by the range ie the further away you are the less damage there is. Suppression could happen on select attacks like the heaviest instead of all and even more so on the ranged attacks.

Hard earned builds with bonuses should count and people should scale to meet the challenge of all the Pro Gankers out there.

With base figures, first Damage per Action time is sorted for burst purposes, with damage + effect per end/Area being equal then everything is tweaked to consider the attack chain over time. Any power pool resistance or def has to translate to res or def all or Temp armours that give a Max res of X amount to Y type damage could be bought.

Then lose insps as that is for cheats It would be nice for them not to matter really and so no one is running back and forth to a shop.

I get cheesed off not being able to PVP at all, simply because my builds arent 'right', which is a shame, as the times PVP have worked out have been fun. And thats not winning all thetime, but when it was a challange. A good example was actually today, with my stalker against a DB/DA scrapper. We both had stealth, and both had +perception, so it was really a case of who could get the drop on the other and slam the first shot in there.

Whats not fun is having someone bouncing around you, you cannot for the life of you target them, even using tab, as it seems to lock on to everything EXCEPT the one you want (!!!!!! >.< ) and then dying without even a chance to fight. And getting two shooted by a tanker when my own tanker seems to be fodder for everyone, despite being pretty tough and doing decent damage just added insult to injury.

I'm reserving judgement until it goes live, but I think people will just need to see.

I have said before, and I will say it again.

Make enhancements NULL and VOID. Then it is only down to the powers you carry with you, NOT how you have slotted them.

THIS to my mind, will make PvP a fair playing field.
Granted this will annoy a fair few players but it may just mean, that a few more players actually see PvP as fun and 'may' just increase the people who do PvP.

Earlier today I posted a response about the PvP changes where I said:

Quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We knew that the current PvP community wasn't likely to react well to the changes as they wern't who we were making changes for, so it's understandable that there is continuing complaints from that segment.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After posting it, I received a lot of justifiable criticism for doing so internally from the rest of the Development Team. Upon reflecting on the statement, I agree that it was in poor taste of me to do so and I was in error. Additionally the statement was not accurate, nor reflective of the goals and ideals the Development Team.

Many of the changes for PvP have been decidedly for the current PvP community and in fact much of the changes have been in direct response to current issues of that community.

I want to apologize for the statement and ask that any ire taken from it be directed at me for my error and not at the Developers who are working very hard on Issue 13.

Truth slips out!

Goading is, and always will be part of PvP, taunting can even be used tactically, you taunt a player he will often desperately try to kill you, trying to hard, making mistakes and often ending up dead. I've seen it used in FPS and RPG games alike. I used it alot in Planetside, you'd be amazed how [censored] peoples aim can get if you taunt them, and the risky lengths they will go to try and lay that killing blow on you, only to lead to their demise.

Every night for around 2+ months I'd PvP on either my Stalker, or my Blaster depending on which side needed the numbers. I was welcomed by alot of the so called 'PvP vets' most of which i never even knew beforehand, bare in mind I essentially play this game for Role-play, and have done for over 2 years, but ive always liked Player vs Player too. Yes, you get the occasional [censored], as with all community's, but I was still invited to PvP channels and in most cases made some friends and generally had alot of fun. So the case of elitism is kind of proven wrong by how I felt the PvP community treat and welcomed me.

[ QUOTE ]
It's borderline greifing, but the textbook response from many PvP players is "If you don't like it, get out." or "It's PvP. Anything goes.". It's not hard to see why some newcomers are put off the PvP scene.

[/ QUOTE ]

The classic "Please don't kill me i'm farming Pillboxes/AV's/etc" annoys me no end frankly, hell yeah go for it, but at the end of the day it's risk vs reward, the risk is enemy players. You enter a Player vs Player zone knowing the risks, knowing you may be ganked, this isn't 'A-hole syndrome' this is how the PvP works, you entered the zone knowing fine well the risks, yet people still moan about it when they are killed. If I rolled a 'PvP server' on other well known MMO's and got sick to death of being ganked I'd roll on a PvE server, or quest and level with a bunch of friends, why [censored] about it? You chose that specific server knowing fine well the risks, just as you enter Sirens Call, RV, BB, etc knowing the risks that come with zonal PvP. If you don't want to be ganked, bring backup, pick off people, or don't bother at all.

I believe I was part of that in Sirens Call. The so called 'Bunny Hopping' is done for the exact reason you stated, keeping range and staying in the air as to avoid an Assassins Strike/Melee chars. It would be a very in-experienced Blaster if they intentionally stood still. 'Bunny Hopping' will still be a valid tactic in i13 changes as they currently are, but as with every tactic there is always a counter tactic, this is what divides an experienced PvP'er, to a new PvP'er, general tactics and counters.

Good example atleast in the current system: You see a Blaster activate Aim + BU, your a squishy AT, do you;

A: Whack on your trusty Phase shift power before the Blaster has chance to attack.
B: Leg it!
C: Attack with everything you've got!

I dare say all experienced PvP'ers' will either A, or B. As Aim + BU is what makes Blasters overpowered (IMO) in the current build. You wait ten seconds, till the Blasters Aim + BU fades, and then you hit back. From my experience Blasters are very much hit and run, Aim + BU is your lifeblood. If you make them use that up, you then have the advantage, but of course, there's yet a tactic to counter that, the Blaster could Hibernate. All this happening in the space of less than 30 seconds makes PvP in this game fun (For me) in i13 it doesn't feel the same to me, it feels slow and clunky, that's coming from a Stalker and a Blaster PoV.

One of the problems with new people joining PVP is that they see people like yourself on here sayhing that PVP is broken with the changes, which it actually isnt, its just that you dont like it.

They also see elitism where if anyone says anything you guys jump on them.

I personally don't aim for specific players, for the exact reasons I stated. Aim intentionally for a certain player and try to hard to kill him, you will get killed yourself. Kiting and so forth, prime example of this.

What i do is aim for -anyone- who has an Orange name above their characters head. If in a team this tends to be support classes, why kill the Tanker if there's a Defender? Generally squishy's are first on the kill list, it would be rather dumb to attack a Tanker when their being healed by an Empath wouldn't it?

And yeah. i personally dislike the current build on the training room for the PvP overhaul, it's an opinion <gasp>

I actually find Golden Girls post quite funny when called for in a thread like this.

I have yet to try these PVP Changes but hell I might even start giving PVP ago again.
