i13 Base cost changes
Looking at the costs in terms of Salvage:
[ QUOTE ]
Basic Telepad
Clockwork Winder, Temporal Sands, Simple Chemical, Psionic Manifestation
Alchemical Silver, Symbol, Inert Gas, Black Blood of the Earth
Ruby, Destiny, Silver, Hamidon Goo
[/ QUOTE ]
Does that mean a Telepad needs all of these bits of Salvage to make???

No - the US poster clarifies further down the thread that each line's a separate recipe. You just need the components on any one of the 3 lines to give you the telepad.
Hamidon Goo....for a BASIC TELEPAD?
So what we're 'making back' in prestige, we're losing in INF in the auction house - is that it?

Well, at least it looks like most of the 'crafted' items don't have to be deleted / replaced. With the price drop, it'd be easy enough to expand your plot and, for example:
1) Build extra telepad rooms
2) Move exisiting pads into new spare room
3) Replace old telepad room for refund
4) Move telepads back
Not the end of the world. Just...a lot of unnecessary work. Still, plenty of prestige will come rolling in!

Erm, no - to rephrase what I said, to make a basic telepad you need:
Option 1: Clockwork Winder, Temporal Sands, Simple Chemical, Psionic Manifestation
or
Option 2: Alchemical Silver, Symbol, Inert Gas, Black Blood of the Earth
or
Option 3: Ruby, Destiny, Silver, Hamidon Goo
If you have Hamidon Goo handy and are already filthy rich, you can use it to make a telepad; otherwise either of the other two options are available, and likely to be much cheaper.
Not that I think the invention salvage elimination was needed, or even an improvement.
I'm quite liking the price drops and the rent changes seem a little more manageable but I really dont see how they've made salvage/components etc any less confusing

I agree eleventyhundred percent
Cende on the American Forums made quite a nice concise post regarding some of the salvage and rent changes.
[ QUOTE ]
* Any CRAFTED item that HAS NOT changed in placement price (teleporters) that you presently have stockpiled can be held on to for later placement. They will still work.
* Any CRAFTED item that HAS changed in placement price (most energy control second tier or higher items) that are made with BASE salvage will be placed at the OLD price. If they are made with INVENTION salvage, they will be placed at the NEW price. Both version will work.
* Salvage racks are converted AUTOMATICALLY. You don't get to choose to not replace your salvage racks. However, items in the salvage racks are safe. You can take things out, but you cannot put things back in until the number of items in the rack drops back under 30.
* It does not cost influence to convert base salvage to brainstorms, or brainstorms to invention salvage.
* The amount of upkeep each item costs may be found in that item's INFO tab.
Known Items (cost is per EACH):
Workshop:
* the Invention table and the basic work tables: 0 prestige
* All storage items, advanced tables and expert work tables: 100 prestige
* tier 2 empowerments station: 200 prestige
* tier 3 empowerment stations: 300 prestige
- I believe the Vault is included as a storage item for prestige as well as towards your total storage limit.
Medical:
* Basic reclaimator: 0 prestige
* Robo-surgeon / Spirit Signal: 100 prestige
- I *think* the Auto-Doc (and arcane version) costs 100 prestige. Combat Logs (and equiv. arcane) will probably, as well, but I don't have a way of knowing.
Transport:
* No costs for beacons or porters
Energy:
I thought I saw something about cost for auxes, but I don't recall where. Also, batteries?
Control:
Again, possibly auxes, but I haven't had a chance to check.

Since I still got a ton of salvage I think I may craft a couple of teleporters now to carry over to the changes with me since their price stays unchanged

Agreed. I'll stockpile some telepads just in case.
Um...'brainstorm'? Wuzzat?

Current Base Salvage & Components can be converted to "Brainstorm" salvage which can then be converted into random invention salvage.. here

Having read those prices i now feel short changed myself and on behalf of our VG.
We are one of those big active VG's that did put the time and effort in to earn 100 million prestige, and did spend it on expensive rooms.
Now that i see the HUGE price reductions of security rooms, i almost feel obliged to now waste god knows how long demolishing god knows how many turrets, rooms etc to get this prestige back.
This has REALLY [censored] me off now. Why can a script not be implemented, they have done it before, do it again.
Dont keep [censored] off your long standing customers who have put the effort in.
If you cant run a script to refund prestige, fix the borked, clunky base editor so there is a place to store made items while rooms are removed and remade. How many times has that been asked for? Listen to your customers my [censored].
There are so many things they could have done, and they chose this absolute rubbish salvage conversion thing instead. Amazing.

This statment should be the core of updates but the devs we have at the moment seem keen on keeping the moaning horde happy what they should keep in mind is the people who moan about the cost and time of things in this game are the ones who will play many games and move on leaving the long timers left with a game thats a shadow of what it should be.
Be warned devs keep giving your loyal customers the shaft and you will be cause of the end of cox
Those rent changes are awesome - about 2,000 Prestige for the biggest bases - even the biggest SGs will now only need like one person to solo a misison or two per month to pay the rent.

The base editor will change, probably with Architecht.
I'm presuming you've built your base to be raidable and as raids are inactive, you might as well wait for the editor to be updated & base raids to be turned on before editing your base, you will still get the refund.
Remember, this is just the start of the base revamp, it isn't the end, have patience

So someone has got to cough up then while the rest of the nameless SG benefits.
Then you should be able to buy such recipes with Prestige.
I can understand why Londoner and all of Smurfville are very disappointed. I'd want none of this.
I was hoping no recipes would be involved and its a simple case of buying and selling with prestige.

TBH I wouldn't have said the cost of salvage is a critical factor, as long as all the items have at least one option that skips all the outrageously expensive stuff.
Looking at the telepad example, I'd guesstimate you could get one built for a few 10s of k at the most. So that'd be a few hundred k total, to build pads for all zones hero side. If you've put in the effort to actually earn the prest for the rooms, power and control you'd need to host those pads, a few hundred k of inf won't even be noticeable.
Although there is still the baffling question as to why they needed to change away from the old system in the first place. I'll assume they didn't just do the work for the sheer hell of it, and it makes sense as part of a larger whole we haven't seen the rest of yet, but I have to admit it does look very gratuitous at the moment.

I 'drawing board' of items - a drag/drop window - the ability to put things *back* into your personal items list - SOMETHING to prevent the deletion / complication of shifting crafted items.
I agree with everyone here, and have to say, it's taking a *lot* to not get angry. My SG is a family, and we've been together for a long time now. We've worked very hard to scrape together the prestige to build a HUGE base that's perfectly functional. We've chosen function of aesthetic design, and then as we've had prestige to spare, we've tarted it up a bit as we went along. It's a centre of operations for us, and we're proud of it.
Now a band of loose players that've been together for the length of a Task Force, can come along and build a base at the snap of their fingers, without truly 'earning' it?
Yes, the prices were steep. But they were 'goals', and a reflection of the SG's achievement. Those established bases for established SG's should get the prestige refund without the extra effort, to allow them to build even BIGGER bases, and perform the decorative / expansion ideas that simply cost extra. Otherwise, what do they have to show for their hard work over the years? Nothing. Now everyone else can do it in a heartbeat, and they are forced to rip up their base just to claim prestige that is rightfully theirs, and that smaller, newer SGs / bases get out of worrying about.

I don't know how to respond to this issue, I like the fact that our SG will now be able to upgrade (a lot) as Im getting 7 ish million back from the plot alone, not to mention the drop in monthly payments.
Still why do away with base salvage? The only reason I can think of is that the Dev's saw that base salvage was just piling up to a point that people didn't even bother that much with it anymore and would just sell it to a shop.
I'm not against using invention salvage I just would implement it in another way, I would not specify any salvage, I would keep the components etc. and let people convert any salvage into them.
That way cheap salvage would get a little boost but it would not make the market run rampant as people would stop buying salvage that would get to expensive and go for something else, still I would have rather kept the base salvage and get more items to craft with them to deplete the stockpile.
I was planning on remodeling our basses layouts anyway and with these price changes Id be a fool not to rebuild from scratch but again Im rather disappointed in the fact that there is no new base building tool(s) to make things easier.
All the more as the issue for a while carried the name "All your bases" but I digress.
The bug that is currently on test letting objects intersect is something I've been waiting for since the start of bases and I hope it will remain to some degree after the patch, I can understand that moving stuff out of the rooms into the void is bad but moving things halfway into a wall or other objects sure looks cool.
As for Paving for PvP purposes, Making all things destructible during raids is something I've been saying all along, granted not on these forums but please take my word for it.
The only thing I would like to add to this line of thinking is that all (decorative) items should be repaired after the raid (other items Im not too sure on but maybe those as well).
To conclude I don't hate the changes to the bases, but they could have not changed anything and overall mood both here and on the other side of the pond would be much higher.
Most people are fearful using invention salvage to build anything as they fear no one will donate anything to the SG as that would not benefit them too much.
Im lucky enough to not have to worry about that as we arent that big an SG and my SG buddies and by now good friends will gladly part with any salvage if needed, not that I would ask them as looking at those items needed , it isnt too hard to get those by playing to the game or simply buy them on the market, I am the one doing the base building so I would never ask them to do so as Im the one having fun with it all, they just like to see what I come up with.
I really shouldn't but I still carry some hope that I14 (delusional I know) will bring with it the much needed and anticipated base interface upgrades as well as more base stuff in general.
Slate.
PS: Yes I do think they should have run a script to return the Pres.
PPS: <@#$%^!> thats a lot of I's.

One hell of a favour. Arc ID: not published at this time
I have a small supergroup and we have a tiny base. It was not so long ago, when I told my friends that, "we never get that small base. It costs too much." Now Im glad about the new prices. Perhaps some day...
That what I really hope, is more practical and cheap items for PVE bases. Workbenches and teleports are great, but I want more. I dont want any fighting in my home
It would be nice if the needs of small supergoups (3-5 members) would be taken more into account.
Prunejuice is warriors drink.
I think removing base salvage makes the crafting process simpler and more logical - but I kinda like the base salvage for its names and the little descriptions, so I'd really like them to remake them as invention salvage
As for the problem of not being able to store rooms or items outside your plot while editing the base, one solution might be to make all the ground shown in the editor be able to hold rooms and items, but if they were placed outside the plot area, they'd pulse like glowies, and you couldn't close the editing window until all rooms and items were within the plot area.

The Devs, to my understanding, have always said that they would never implement something like that because what would happen if you reset your computer half way through - it could potentially cause a lot of problems I guess.
That said, the new pathing rules may well mean you can do that anyway - put your storage bin in between rooms, so although you can't access it until you put it in a room, it would technically be out of the room and so perhaps safe from the room sale? Not sure, might have to test that out myself actually
Sadly i cant see that working, because i dont think you will be able to get an item further out the room than the doorway.
And if its in the doorway it's still in the room. Give it a try though.
Well, a way around that might be to move the access area of the editor from the base entrance room to the SG Registrar in City Hall - so instead of being inside the base and working on it in "real time", you'd actually be editing a copy, while the actual base remained in its usual state until you'd clicked to apply the changes to it - and it could maybe autosave every 5 minutes or so to reduce the loss of work a computer crash might cause.

Or they could just do what people have been asking for from day 1 and add an off map storage room for items.
Which i cant see being any harder than that idea.
The one thing I have been waiting for since announced is some details of the new prices for bases, as someone with a small personal SG with about 2 mill prestige I've been looking forward to forgetting the down side to base changes see what I can expand it to.
Some very nice person American side has made a pretty comprehensive guide and I thought maybe theres people out there who dont wander states-side when bored and I'd chuck the link here
