I'd just like to add something to the base issues - on the walls where you can't alter the height and the items float away from the wall and won't go flush (vents and such for example), other floor items such as steps wont go right up to certain walls either, again leaving a very noticeable gap.

The Devs, to my understanding, have always said that they would never implement something like that because what would happen if you reset your computer half way through - it could potentially cause a lot of problems I guess.
That said, the new pathing rules may well mean you can do that anyway - put your storage bin in between rooms, so although you can't access it until you put it in a room, it would technically be out of the room and so perhaps safe from the room sale? Not sure, might have to test that out myself actually -

Power order rushed as I am in game playing XD
[/ QUOTE ]
Lol, sorry Shannon
Still, overall there doesn't seem to be that many attack powers. Does everyone else only play with teams or something? How would you get a significant damage output from that build?...Or is it just me?
-
OK, maybe a stupid question then, but does CT: Offensive and Leadership give the same boost to accuracy, and are the enhancable by the same amount?
Shannon, according to your build you'd only have 2 attack powers until lvl 26... No offense, but whats the point of all those boosts if you have no attacks? Not trying to be funny, genuine question
I actually have all three ranged attacks from the crab pack and all three melee attacks from it as well, and although I must admit I do miss running Manouvers (not been able to fit it in yet), I do like my damage output... -
Can anyone tell me, do enhancements actually affect the accuracy of CT: Offensive and Defensive? The built in numbers things gives percentage increases which implies to me that they are enhancable (why could you slot it otherwise?), but Mids doesn't seem to reflect this. Also, surely this would make them more appealing? 3 slotted they would take you to almost 2/3 of an SO and with Leadership you could then knock off an accuracy slot for every attack power...

Love this guide to bits
I too have a dictionary and thesaurus next to my computer for whenever I get the itch to make a new toon...
I agree with everything, and I think that Kheldian names can benefit the most from this - some of the most beautiful names I have seen in game have been Kheldian. That said, I have two very different Khelds - my first was a PB who I called Luminal Velocity (one of my better names I think) and my second was a WS called Transcendental (a not-very-reformed evil dentist modelled on Steve Martin's character in Little Shop of Horrors, and one of the few toons I have bothered to give a bio).
I agree with the linking-to-powers thing to - my first hero is called Psionetic - a Psychic/Kinetic defender. I love just cramming two descriptive words together to see what I can get - often sounds rubbish but sometimes I get something decent (at least I think so) but the best part is that names like this are very rarely taken already.
I don't know if it is a good thing or not, but more often than not when I log on a brand new toon my friends send a /tell and can immediately guess the powersets! Personally I like that, I agree with you that names connected to your character's powers or sets lends to their stature and is much more impressive than 'Super Bob' and the Wolvie clones.
I don't pretend that all my names are great though... sometimes I do get frustrated when every name I try is taken and so sometimes I do settle for second best, but thank god for the character re-naming tool now
Oh, and kudos on the use of "mellifluously"... one of my favourite words -
It is possible (I think - can't remember what lvl SG stuff opens up at), and I've just done it myself thanks to the new base rent changes, but it will take some time to get a functional base. I'm pretty active, but I only have a few rooms so far, and no energy yet so nothing is working. (I probably could do it, but that would involve deleting my STUNNING med bay
)
So yes, its possible, but for one person it will take quite a while. -

- Sing: I assume the slotting is a typo!
[/ QUOTE ]
Lol, yes it is. I actually meant to ask about how best to slot it. I know there are many, many different ways, but I was wondering if there are any particularly effective slotting styles? I'm probably going to be using it for a combination of damage and back-up holds wise... AFAIK it isn't worth slotting Rech but what about Acc? Think I may have to wait til I get it and have a play with slots, but either way I'm pretty sure it'll get all six in some way.
[ QUOTE ]
- Fallout: don't really like the power. You might get more out of Choking Cloud if you can fit it earlier in your build and 6-slot (3 hold 3 EndRdx).
[/ QUOTE ]
I did have this and specced it out, as it seemed to drain a lot of end and didn't seem to hold that reliably. May have to try it again though...
How come you don't like Fallout? I thought it was supposed to be pretty powerful, almost a nuke. So what is the downside to it? (I had been looking forward to it as a bit of damage at last!) I also specced into Wormhole and although the recharge is a bit long it does seem like it would be very useful in large teams (only solo'ed over christmas, as I haven't been on much). I don't mind the animation on propel - I just don't use it when it's life-or-death, just when I've got things locked down or as a way to get rid of a Lt a lot faster than without it...
Other than that your suggestions seem really good Okton. I usually go for Health out of habit, but I suppose it probably won't do a troller much good! -
OK, here's my proposed build... what do people think? Not sure about the slotting order, gonna have a play on test server and see if I can sort that out a bit. But is any slotting shockingly bad or anything?

Thanks guys -
Well, I figure since I have a few respecs on him now thanks to the Vet rewards, I may as well try respeccing him to see if I can give him a better build. Wormhole and Propel are definitely going to be added! If I remember I'll post my build and some ideas when I get home from work.
OK, now this os going to make me sound like a n00b, but I think this is the root of my problem: I've just not got my head around how to best use Rad. I find I either feel useful and focus on holding/immobbing etc (can't wait for my Sing, think he/it will make everything MUCH better), or I throw out a few debuffs, and by the time the animations have finished everything (or at the very least the anchor
) is dead and I don't feel like I helped. Having read a few posts here, I'm more inclined to think that my problems are caused by a rubbish build and a rubbish playstyle.
I know this makes me sound stupid, but I have played loads of alts, and from my experience the controllers seem to be the most dual-purpose, being able to buff/debuff and control. My 50 is a defender and you have to do this to an extent with defenders, but I played him as an Offender build and so a controller feels even more different from that than I had thought it would. And each new power just brings more choices! So my question is, how do you personally balance this? I realise this is a very personal, playstyle thing, but do most people only use debuffs (for example) on bosses, EB's and AV's? Because I think that's where Rad is throwing me - you only really have 3 debuffs, and though they're very good, the animations take ages. Do people just use one most of the time, and only break the other 2 out in big fights?
Honestly, I'm not a n00b, and I enjoyed playing him until he hit about 24 and suddenly I had all these choices... -
Its only the thought of the Sing thats kept me going this long
I think (looking again at my build ona planner and weeping into my keyboard) that I may have borked him myself rather than anything else. I ditched Propel cos of the animation time, but that left me with just the holds and immob for damage now, which is what made it slow I think. I also skipped wormhole at the time, but having read into it a bit I think I may have to pick that up too. *sigh*(Honestly, I thought I had an idea about these sets, really I did...)

Hi everyone.
I've been thinking about this for ages, and I've decided I can't make up my mind, so I'm going to ask for your help.
I've got a lvl 29 grav/rad troller, and frankly, he bores the heck out of me. In a team he rarely dies but I just don't feel like I contribute, and solo'ing is easy but sooooo slow that its just painful to watch. So, I want to know: is it just me - have I gimped him badly, or do other people find this particular combination a bit boring too?
I have been loathe to delete him (a bit low on slots) as he is fairly high, for me anyway, and I've had him for about a year now - but he is still only 29 and I almost never use him unless I'm in a team that desperately needs his debuffs, and thats a rubbish reason to keep him really. So now I have decided to do something with him, should I delete him? Should I rebuild him (now I have a freespec
)? And if so, does anyone have any suggestions? I'm at work so I don't have a build here, but I know that the only Grav powers he has are both the single and AoE holds and Immobs. Yes, I know he needs propel... If I keep him thats one thing I'm definitely getting! He also has most/all the Rad powers (certainly all the debuffs, mutation and Choking cloud), and he has hasten & SS and Stamina.
Thanks in Advance! -
Sorry about this thread Necromancy, but I have a related question - I've just started a new elec/elec blaster and I was wondering about the slotting of power sink.
At the moment I'm planning 2 rech, 2 endmod, the middle road from what I can figure out - or am I missing something? A third rech only shaves about 6 seconds off the recharge time, and that hardly seems worth it. At the same time, I've no idea what effect the endmods have on the drain-effect. Can anyone help? (I'm assuming the endrdx are pointless, since it gives you end back and doesn't cost *that* much to fire...)
TIA -
It depends on what *you* want from the set. Personally, with my kin defender I spend a lot of time fighting - what the heck is Fulcrum Shift for if not to use it, right? I have as many of my secondary attack powers as I do primary kin powers, and I probably spend more time using the attacks as well. So I take a slightly more backseat approach to the buffing - for example, I use ID as a reactionary power to free people from mezzes (if you want to spend all your time as a buff bot, just get ID and try to keep an 8 man team buffed with it all the time... Go on, I dare you!
).
If you don't want to keep people SB'ed all the time, you don't have to drop the power, just don't start keeping people SB'ed and they won't expect it, they'll just be more grateful when they do get it occasionally. I tend not to use it at all in 8-man teams unless there's trouble, and then I use it to help people's end, not their speed.
Thats the problem with the /kin set though, it makes everything go so fast, it can be hard to keep up yourself! Its all worth it for FS though -
I got all the way to 50 with just flight and Siphon speed and was fine... But at 50 I respecced out of fly (kept hover) and got combat jumping, SJ and acrobatics with inertial reduction, and I loved it!
The lack of suppression is absolutely woderful, and when I'm exemped down if I'm travelling through a higher area I always have SJ to fall back on, to prevent any mishaps with activating IR.
Plus, the difference acrobatics makes (when you spend as much time in melee is I do) feels huge. It took way more power picks than just hover and fly but it was worth it for my play style.
But as a 'troller, I'd agree with everyone else and get a travel power normally at 14 and respec into IR later if you want. I seriously pity anyone who tries to get from 1- 28 without an independent travel power... -
I'm playing an ice/storm atm, so I can't help much with the ice side, but as far as kin goes, everything is good. Repel is situational and its usefulness depends on how you play - if *you* want to be getting the health, end and buffs that you can put out then you need to be in melee range, and repel can screw that up... But as a troller you may prefer to keep enemies at bay. Its u to you, your mileage may vary as they say.
That said, the ice holds *seem* to root enemies (only tried with Gale so far so could be wrong), so if you hold or immob an enemy you may still be able to use them for a health/end/buffs anchor even with repel running. That said, repel is a real end hog...
I'm talking in circles here so I'll shut up now -
You want something like
/bind v "petsay_all We are t3h l337!"
And of course you can replace petsay_all with the variations or just petsay and click on the hench you want to speak. Also I *think* for emotes its just
/bind v "petsay_all em wave"
ie. no need for a / or for "", though I could be wrong.
There is actually a very good binds guide somewhere, look in the Mastermind Index at the top of the MM section. -
I've got a lvl 26 Grav/Rad, and I too was unimpressed with Lift and Propel and so 'specced them out in favour of more Rad stuff... Now, as before, I *can* solo, and very safely, but it really does take ages, because I'm only cycling my hold and 2 immobs to do the damage. So like I said, safe but very, very boring. But with a good team, its an amazingly fun build and much, much faster.
Oh, and slotting is a pain. I found I just had to do the respec and then copy to the test server and try out a couple of different builds on the same mission for comparrison, because its quite subtle so its very much a personal thing. -
Actually I still need Meteorologist as well
Thought I had it but I don't

I'm in for War Wall Defender with Psionetic

I'd like to come if I may
I'll bring my 50 kin defender

... as long as you have slotted flare and antagonise and use them (sensibly) whenever they are up.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, thats really the bit I was wondering about... How do you use them sensibly?...Am I being thick?
At the moment, I just use them to try to keep as many enemies on me as I can while I slowly whittle their health away... Only just got SO's though, and only 22 so got the form 3 res slotted, but thats it so far. Thanks for the slotting tips though. -
I was never expecting to be able to tank as well as a Tank, obviously, but I thought it might be useful to learn a few tips and tricks about how I can at least help out. One thing I have just discovered is that dwarf form really begins to kick [censored] with SB
-
I get by with 2 Accuracies in Transfusion, Transference, FS, Siphon Speed and Power, and one in all my attacks, and even without tactics I hardly ever seem to miss, untill the enemies go above orange conning, and then the attacks get a bit dicey but even up to purples I find Transfusion and Transference reliable enough. Thats on my lovely Offendery build.
On the points about IR and SJ... My kin was my first toon and I just couldn't face not having him fly, until I got my PB and could fly all I wanted, so I only specced him into IR and acrobatics at 50, but since I've played him more I really, really wish I'd done that earlier. The jumping around is good (unsupressed! yay!) but the acrobatics makes such a difference its amazing - no more getting knowcked out of my own FS! Woooo!
Anyway, hope that ramble helped, just my 2 inf -
Cool, that was pretty much what I was looking for. It was just cruel irony that I dinged 20, got dwarf form, and then the only tank left so I felt I had to at least try and tank a bit
That was what I was doing as well I think, and mostly the way I had planned the form out to. Just spent my time going round and trying to taunt and hit as many different things as posible really. But dwarf doesn't get... punchvoke, is it? So does just hitting stuff work as an aggro-gathering tactic?
I know it doesn't really matter but I'd like to at least *think* I know what I'm doing (occasionally)
