Skippable Powers for Crab Spiders

So, my Wolf Spider is creeping towards level 24 and that tastytasty backpack, and I was intending to create a 'pure', petless Crab. Seeing as I also intended to use the Teleport and Fitness Power Pools, which powers from the three core pools (Training and Gadgets and the two Crab pools) would you personally consider to be most skippable?

- Wolf Spider Armor : only +3% res and +2 mag against mezz... Not really useful.
- Assault gives only +15% dmg, which is interesting only in large arachnos groups, with a lot of assault cumulating.
- Leadership : in pve, the precision given by leadership and the res to confusion and terror aren't essential.
- Offensive isn't essential too (+10% accuracy, it's less than 1/3 of a accuracy SO).

All the attacks are useful, it depends on your gameplay... Take the Venom grenade (res debuff), aim, and aoes if you like to soloing (but without pets, it'll be hard to solo), aoes and/or single targets if you like to group...

I wouldn't skip Assault, you can run it easily and it's not only a cheap 15% damage buff for you - but also for your pets.

For the Secondary in PvE I'd skip CT: Offensive and Wolf Spider Armor, and maybe Leadership but that's still nice - especially when fighting things like Nightwidow NPC's.

As for the Primary - I'd probably skip all the Arachnos Soldier powers (urk redraw). From Crab I'd probably grab Channelgun, Longfang, Aim, Suppression, Venom Grenade and Frag Grenade and of course Omega Maneuver. Slice and Arm Lash do good damage but it's Melee and I'd definitely ignore Frenzy.

Can anyone tell me, do enhancements actually affect the accuracy of CT: Offensive and Defensive? The built in numbers things gives percentage increases which implies to me that they are enhancable (why could you slot it otherwise?), but Mids doesn't seem to reflect this. Also, surely this would make them more appealing? 3 slotted they would take you to almost 2/3 of an SO and with Leadership you could then knock off an accuracy slot for every attack power...

[/ QUOTE ]

Accuracy enhancements affect the accuracy bonus from CT: Offensive. It has a base value of +10%. If you slot it with one +acc SO it will be increased to about 13%.

Accuracy enhancements don't affect CT: Defensive, but defence enhancements do!

As for wether or not to take CT: Offensive, on the whole AS builds are short on power slots not enhancement slots, so in most builds you are probably better off slotting +acc enhancements into your attacks. It doesn't give a big enough bonus to do without acc enhancements all together anyway.

I really should do something about this signature.

I would recommend taking CT: Offensive in the pre-specialization levels and respec it out at 24, to help with the horrible horrible lowbie accuracy.

I did a quick change to a kept basic build based on your idea of a pure crab with no pets, tp self and tp foe.

Slots are empty and are at basic minimum slots I'd allow so spare slots to go anywhere.

I didnt fancy Frag grenade without a WAWG and that would of meant a webmaster build.

OK, maybe a stupid question then, but does CT: Offensive and Leadership give the same boost to accuracy, and are the enhancable by the same amount?

Shannon, according to your build you'd only have 2 attack powers until lvl 26... No offense, but whats the point of all those boosts if you have no attacks? Not trying to be funny, genuine question

I actually have all three ranged attacks from the crab pack and all three melee attacks from it as well, and although I must admit I do miss running Manouvers (not been able to fit it in yet), I do like my damage output...

CT: Offensive is an accuracy buff. Leadership is a To Hit buff. They work in a diiferent way (there is a guide somewhere explaining how it works).

[ QUOTE ]
but whats the point of all those boosts if you have no attacks?

[/ QUOTE ]

You can't be a Crab Spider below level 24, so it doesn't matter if you have few attacks before then.

It so happens that the good buffs are available at low levels, but most of the good attacks aren't available until higher levels, so you would end up with a bunch of rubbish attacks and no rome for the buffs.

Having said that, I would pick up Longfang earlier, since Shannon is taking it anyway.

Lol, sorry Shannon

Still, overall there doesn't seem to be that many attack powers. Does everyone else only play with teams or something? How would you get a significant damage output from that build? ...Or is it just me?

It's just you. Shannon actually has rather more attacks than I would take. Four attacks is plenty for an attack chain.

Slotted with recharge you could just have Channel Gun, Slice and Longfang and always have a power ready to fire.

I like enough in situational attack chains, a bit like one pair of shoes for clubbing, one for college and one for work. Its more fun. Also some people like to survive passively. I much rather do it pro-actively which means cutting a fight duration down with any group to a minimum with right movement, attack choice or control. 1 second out and I could be a gonna. (Surprisingly, unlike most peoples tanks mine traffic light well.)

Nice Crabmastermind!

I would of end reduxed long fang instead of second end slot assault, 2 doctored wounds in serum instead of the basic IOs but other than that it looks pretty good. Anything else is just mileage.

Defensively see how you can tweak it, your defense to positions is almost the same as damage types and in most cases one is needed in a calculation. Is it worth tipping the balance to whichever is easily had more of.

Its like when solo your tanking for your pets XD

Just wondered what people thought of this build. Never been one for sets, thus all the IOs.
What's the consensus on the defence debuff, I figured 5 attacks with -10% each would build up (does it stack?) and be quite useful.

You can see the MM in me shining through with both pet powers

Lets look at your slotting of health for a moment.

3 health slots means you have an extra regen of 0.04 hitpoints regenerated per second.

Thats 4 hitpoints per 10 seconds.

2 health slots means you have the extra regen of 0.03 hitpoints regenerated per second, an extra 3 hitpoints per 10 seconds.

So there is one enhancement slot for 1 hitpoint over 10 seconds.

Doesn't sound like a lot. Taking that slot and putting it in haste to shave of 29 seconds of recharge sounds like a lot (although depending on the rest of the build the difference can still be small and so is there a better place?)

The debuff slotting in the attacks increase your def debuffs by 2.9%, if they were an accuracy slot your accuracy is increased by 28% which sounds like a lot more. Is it? Well I'd think for PVE with the other powers you should do alright with 1 acc...so..currently channel gun does 22.7 damage per end. If that defbuff was changed to an end slot you would do 31.48 damage per endurance. This'll obviously mean that after using an attack you have more of an endurance bar left. You can go quickly through endurance and have 5 attack chains to an endurance bar or have end slots in attacks and have a ballpark figure of 8 attack chains to an endurance bar.

All I do is rather than read percentages in the info box I go to windows and use the power graphs on slots (Not all the time, you do get faster at build creating).

Power choices I personally think are down to you. I personally think the combat training defensive power is more important than the mental training. Mental training increases your recharge and gives you resists to slow but increased ranged defense should help you avoid more attacks, particularly those that reduce defense and defend against being slowed to begin with.

Sometimes we will have 3 slots in stamina or health because we are waiting on an IO or something.

He will honor his words; he will definitely carry out his actions. What he promises he will fulfill. He does not care about his bodily self, putting his life and death aside to come forward for another's troubled besiegement. He does not boast about his ability, or shamelessly extol his own virtues. - Sima Qian.

Main change I would make would be to pick up Serum much earlier (and yeah, I wouldn't bother slotting def debuff enhancements).

I really should do something about this signature.

Thanks for the advice guys, I've taken both comments on board and made the changes.
The 3rd IO for health was more of a oh 'I've got a slot free, I'll stick it there' thing; but it's moved somewhere more useful now
I'm going to use those power graphs more now that I know how useful they can be!
