I've been on Coh For four months, and I've just bought the GvE pack and joined my freinds Sg, Purely so I could check out the base. Now, Most of my characters are realy low levels,But High enough to get my own Sg. I was wondering If it was possible for one Single person to make(and manage) Their own base, I was gonna use it for a storyline for one of my characters as a home... Any thoughts?

Yes, and with the changes to rent it is now far more viable.

Would It be possible for a slow leveling lvl 10? XD I'm realy Impatient

It is possible (I think - can't remember what lvl SG stuff opens up at), and I've just done it myself thanks to the new base rent changes, but it will take some time to get a functional base. I'm pretty active, but I only have a few rooms so far, and no energy yet so nothing is working. (I probably could do it, but that would involve deleting my STUNNING med bay )

So yes, its possible, but for one person it will take quite a while.

The trick is to go with an Oversight Centre. This and the comensurate bits and bobs can give you basic control and power. Enough to get teleport and a workbench in anyway.

It can't be done quickly. You just can't generate enough Prestige at low levels. Even above 35, Prestige is not exactly fast to accumulate, and you'll be getting no Inf while you accumulate Prestige.

I would suggest, base wise, to make one SG, get a friend to help you get your alts in that one SG.

Advantages:
1: The boost in Prestige you get for the first 15 members
2: Working towards building up one base, instead of many

Disadvantages:
1: You need a friend to help invite your other alts
2: It's one base. With some work you can create some homes for different characters, but... it's not as easy as making a home for each alt.

It's easily doable, but you have to be patient at first until you're at a high enough level to start earning some serious Prestige.
I started mine before they had introduced the Oversight Center, so it took a while before i could expand much.
But this new rent system will make things faster for you.

I did a bit of playing on Test last night.

If you pick up an Oversight Centre (not cheap, but a lot cheaper than the other way) and the appropriate control/power source, you should then be able to get two out of the three basic base functions (workbench, med bay, teleport) up and cooking. You appear to run out of energy before you can have all three going.

There doesn't seem to be a way of getting more energy into the base without building a power room. I don't believe the dual function power/control gizmos can be extended. Which is a shame for small base builders.

So, if you want a "fully functional small base" it will need help from a friend or a huge amount of spare time.

OTOH, if you want a "mostly functional small base", you have more of a chance, but it will still take some significant time. You get 20k Prestige for each of the first 14-ish members in your SG, so you'll have 20k when you make the SG. An Oversight Centre costs (IIRC) 50k, and then you need to buy items to put in it...

(Edit: Or you could just build your base on Test, where the system will give you 32020000 Prestige when you create your SG. It's for testing base functionality, but it does let you play with a lot more toys.)

That's odd... in my CoV SG, we got medbay, basic workbench, and a single telepad running with the combination unit... at least, I THINK so.

Did you build the teleport pad from salvage, or just use the default one? I think the buildable one uses less power, but can only have one target... or something.

There is no default telepad... the thing you call 'default' is the raid teleporter which cannot be used for other purposes than base raids.

That seems odd, but I maybe just read something wrong.
Hey! There's hope for my tiny little base yet!

Our base ran for ages on the oversight centre....it gives just enough power/control for 1 workbench, 1 reclamator and 1 teleporter (crafted on the workbench) with 2 beacons on it.

As we are a 3 person SG on the smallest plot size we took advantage of the x2XP weekend and scraped just enough prestige together to upgrade to proper power/control rooms and a second teleporter, so yes, it can be done but it does take a lot of time.

Having been alone in Nightfall until I felt it was ready for public release I got to the point of having a power room and supply, control room and supply, workshop and basic bench, TP room and two telepads and 4 beacons in 6 months, with the only help being in getting others to briefly join to help me transfer my 11 alts in as well.
If I remember right it's 75K prestige starting out and then +20K for each other member up to a total membership of 15.
So if you put all 12 toons in => 75K + (11x20K) = 295K prestige just from having them in the SG.
Certainly enough to get you a reasonable start now that the game has the oversight centre and such.

Sadly, you're mistaken.

You don't get any prestige at the creation of a SG, except for the members bonus (20k for the first 15).

So, any newly created SG will have 20k prestige (for the first member: the creator)

The creator of the SG gets the 20k bonus for him/herself, for being the first member. Other than that there are no starting bonuses outside test server.

Yes, a solo SG is possible, as noted you have to have either 2 accounts, or a mate to help you set it up. I currently have 12 alts in my own Villan SG on Defiant, its taken aroung 9 months to do, but I have a Control Room with Main Computer and 3 Databases, A workshop with 2 salvage Racks, an Enhancement Table (No need for twinking anymore, my own high alts can buy any DO's/SO's my lower lvl alts can't afford now) and an Inspiration Collector, A power room with Generator, a Med Bay with Hospital teleporter and a teleport room with 2 teleporters to the 4 locations you can't get to from Pocket D. I'm not far off placing another teleporter room to Finish off direct Teleportation facilities, and Buy and Sell workbenches as needed.

Note I do have 2 Lvl 50's now, as well as a 33,32,29 etc below that, and have collected about 1.5 million prestige to do this. So it is possible, but does take time and effort. Your first alt really will be maximising Inf collecting to help your others stay in SG mode and getting prestige more.

Hope this helps.

Or you can just have a SG with just one avatar in it - no need for 2 accounts then

[/ QUOTE ]
True, but most of us aren't so limited that we can only really play one character/powerset-combo so we have more alts, why not make the best of it?

When did this change, I'm 99.9% certain that when Gravecall set up Nightfall (Xmas 2005) it was 75K for the first/founding member, then 20K per member for the next 14?
Was it because bases were newish then?

Seems silly that they'd change that yet up the prestige earnings because SGs weren't getting enough.
