Ice/kin controllers am i the only one
I'm playing an ice/storm atm, so I can't help much with the ice side, but as far as kin goes, everything is good. Repel is situational and its usefulness depends on how you play - if *you* want to be getting the health, end and buffs that you can put out then you need to be in melee range, and repel can screw that up... But as a troller you may prefer to keep enemies at bay. Its u to you, your mileage may vary as they say.
That said, the ice holds *seem* to root enemies (only tried with Gale so far so could be wrong), so if you hold or immob an enemy you may still be able to use them for a health/end/buffs anchor even with repel running. That said, repel is a real end hog...
I'm talking in circles here so I'll shut up now
Afraid not...I've had Krysalis on my account since my ex made her back last year February.
Still only lvl33, but have been considering to delete her for a long time now as I rarely use her. Also due to Jack Frost being one hell of a lazy pet and Ice Control being quite an ordinary Control Set and hardly any damage (I like to hurt people)!
Tried her for PvP, but apart from Holds and slows, it doesn't offer much else. Plus it does drain on your endurance, especially when Siphon Speed doesn't really offer you much in endurance recovery (if at all).
Strongest in PvE, great to hang back and provide the holds and slows in the back. Kinetics will keep you busy with the endless shouts of Speed Boost and the sort.
Despite considering to delete her, she's still there, haunting me..pretty much like my ex is today! :P
So far her current build is as follows:
---------------------------------------------
Exported from Ver: 1.7.6.0 of the CoH_CoV Character Builder - (http://sherksilver.coldfront.net/index.php)
---------------------------------------------
Name:
Level: 50
Archetype: Controller
Primary: Ice Control
Secondary: Kinetics
---------------------------------------------
01) --> Block of Ice==> Empty(1)
01) --> Transfusion==> Empty(1) ...not only provides heals...but helps with end regen.
02) --> Siphon Power==> Empty(2) ...provides +dmg to u and allies...provides -dmg to foe
04) --> Frostbite==> Empty(4) ...group immob
06) --> Recall Friend==> Empty(6) ...erm...handy
08) --> Swift==> Empty(8) ...chosen for map maneuverability
10) --> Siphon Speed==> Empty(10) ...provides you with superspeed...provides foe slows to regen and movement
12) --> Ice Slick==> Empty(12) ...probably one of the best powers in the set
14) --> Teleport==> Empty(14) ...well u have siphon speed to give you super speed. this travel power and hover will get you anywhere and continue attack without much end loss.
16) --> Increase Density==> Empty(16) ...status protection for your allies...also is a good res buff.
18) --> Hurdle==> Empty(18) ...chosen for map maneuverability
20) --> Speed Boost==> Empty(20) ...altho end regen not as strong as empathy's RA...does the job just as well and your allies provides a good boost to their running speed
22) --> Stamina==> Empty(22) ...much needed when controlling
24) --> Hover==> Empty(24) ...coupled with tp. stops you from falling from the sky when you don't have enough end to tp again. keeps u away from those nasty melee'ing foes.
26) --> Glacier==> Empty(26) ...group hold, doesn't last long, so best slotted for holds when get the chance
28) --> Arctic Air==> Empty(28) ...confuses and minor fear enemy altho not so successfully. provides foe slows to regen and movement. practically useless in PvP...occasionally used in PvE
30) --> Inertial Reduction==> Empty(30) ....weeeee, make you and your friends jump really high
32) --> Jack Frost==> Empty(32) ...my first ever controller pet...and i've got to say its the laziest thing on two legs. stronger dmg in melee than blasting, its so passive you have to spawn it inside the middle of a mob.
If I do carry on the following I would go for would be...
35) --> Transference==> Empty(35) ...gotta take as provides excellent endurance recovery.
38) --> Fulcrum Shift==> Empty(38) ...another must have power...lots of mobs...give u lots of dmg!
41) --> Indomitable Will==> Empty(41)
44) --> Mind Over Body==> Empty(44)
47) --> Psionic Tornado==> Empty(47)
49) --> Flash Freeze==> Empty(49)
---------------------------------------------
01) --> Sprint==> Empty(1)
01) --> Brawl==> Empty(1)
01) --> Containment==> Empty(1)
02) --> Rest==> Empty(2)
---------------------------------------------
I've missed out the following...
Ice Control:
Chillbalin...does better damage than Frostbite, butgiven the option of immob one foe to a large group...I'd go for the large group immob.
Shiver...does no dmg and the slows aren't too fantastic.
Kinetics:
Repel...useless against status affected players in PvP. Effective in PvE, however the endurance it uses to bounce foes away is ridiculous.
As you can see from this, I'm not really too enthusiastic about the set...but maybe it'll help you with your controller.
Good luck!

ty for info even tho u dnt liek the set haha
oooh, I have an Ice/Kinetics controller and I really enjoyed lvling her. Sure Jack Frost has to be the laziest of pets but... it was still a good fun set to play.
I've recently respecced her specifically for the shadow shards but prior to that my build was like this:
Level 1: Block of Ice
Level 1: Transfusion
Level 2: Siphon Power
Level 4: Chilblain
Level 6: Arctic Air
Level 8: Swift
Level 10: Siphon Speed
Level 12: Ice Slick
Level 14: Air Superiority
Level 16: Hurdle
Level 18: Assault
Level 20: Stamina
Level 22: Speed Boost
Level 24: Tactics
Level 26: Glacier
Level 28: Inertial Reduction
Level 30: Frostbite
Level 32: Jack Frost
Level 35: Transference
Level 38: Fulcrum Shift
Level 41: Fissure
Level 44: Rock Armor
Level 47: Earth's Embrace
Level 49: Hurl Boulder
I didnt bother with a travel power while I was leveling up...
I took the group immob relativly late because it was a pain with ice slick initially (ice slick makes them fall over, the group immob keeps them standing on it... standing and shooting you)... but I wanted it later on for using after Fulcrum Shift
Ignored the group sleep (flash freeze) and the slow (shiver) as I just didnt really like them...
Ignored repel as I never had enough endurance for it and increase density because this was a selfish solo controller hehe
Went earth mastery because Fissure was just so good for: Run in, Fulcrum Shift, Fissure - great damage!
As for slotting - mostly slot recharge and accuracy and you probably won't go far wrong!

Ice/Kin seems like a good combination of powersets, I just love the sight of buffing your own pets!
my main is a kinetic defender and there is no way i would respec out of repel. it really has 3 uses
1. oh bugger there all swarming on me and its going pete tong, fire repel, send them flying and run like mad
2. using it to pin the big guys on there back in the corner. make sure you keep firing transferrance off to steal there endurance and have some blues handy but with practise you can keep them down whilst the team kills them off
3. pure childish fun. hit siphon speed and run through mobs gigaling like a 2 year old as they all go flying
hi guys ive been looking on the forums for info on a ice/kin cont but no info lol, i love him so far he lvl 16 but its wierd playin controller and have no expeirance with them since im a lvl 50 stone tank haha, well if u ave any to get powers and not get powers plz tell me, also sloting info would be very useful
