Has CoX spoiled other MMOs for me?

That still depends on what you're doing to make you happy, joyful and un-sad - a supervillain's evil plans probably make him happy, joyful and not at all sad - but that doesn't make him lovely

CoH is the first MMO as well, and I tried to play WoW. No comparison. Getting to mishes was horrendous (where is the entance where do I have to go?!?!?!?!?!) i was walking around trying to find where to go. Graphics of WoW are terrible compared to CoH, all look the same. i managed to get an elf to level 10 or 12 and lost interest. No I stick to CoH, but probabbly will check out DCUO and CO if (and not when) they come out just for comparison. reading your comments I am careful to start playing another MMO at the moment

And to the OP - yes CoX has spoiled you, just as it's spoiled us all. There's nothing that can compare to City of... for individuality, creativity and community.

I started off my MMO life with "The Realm" - which was a 2D awful awful mess up of a game, but that didn't deter me, I went over to BiosFear - which was streets ahead, but there was no community (one thing I'll give The Realm - it might not have gameplay, graphics, a storyline - but the community was fantastic - as long as you avoided Channel 5 (the sales channel!)

Then I found CoH - it was great - I was able to create a frikken superhero! And he looked great - I loved it almost immediately. But there was something missing, and I couldn't put my finger on it - so I carried on paying but played very rarely - then I got my invite to CoV beta, I thought - let's have a bash and finally realised what CoH was missing!

I love CoX, when I moved to my laptop I had serious problems with getting CoX to work though, and so I had a look around for what I could get that would work. WoW just didn't push my buttons - the game world's pretty, and I love the fact that you can walk forever without the loading screens but it has one major drawback - the customers! And of course the limiting character classes.

I'd heard great stuff about Eve so I gave that a try, but like the person that mentioned it earlier - even the tutorial bored the pants off me, and the way that you improve your skills (I mean really - start learning a skill and then you have to wait hours/days until you get your next level?!?!)

CO and DC might be making new Superhero MMOs but I'm afraid they'll have to drag me kicking and screaming while prising my cold dead fingers from the servers of CoX.

City of... is just the best, and even though it's dated I'm afraid that, as a non-techie person, I don't see it - the graphics are good enough for me, the stories are immersive, and the customisation options breathtaking. Of course the community is just the very gorgeous icing, marzipan fruits , candles, hundreds and thousands and other cake toppings!

CoV was actually my 2nd MMO

My first was Guild Wars... Nearly put me off them for life.

But then I picked up CoV in HMV and saw the character creation tool aswell as the chance to be a bad guy and thought what the hell.

Installed it and hooked ever since. about 6 months later i added CoH and 6 months after that I was buying 2 copies of the GvE pack, one for my current account and one to start a 2nd acount cos I can't get enough of THAT costume creater.

I've tried other MMos since though, incl WoW, Bf2142 held my intrest for a while but ultimatly faded into the black once I got another character concept.

I've taken breaks, I was away for 6 months once but I always come back.

Individuality, fast paced, great stories, great community, instant action, no +8 swords of doom, flying, endless imagination!

CoX IS my perfect game.

Matrix online is pretty much the only real alternative if you arent a fan of elves and dwarfves atm, its actually very solid technically, still looks great and has (or had when I was there at least) a great community. Unfortunately the story is completely now disconnected from player and franchise and the newer content has been allowed to completely contradict the core theme - but if you want something different and dont try and connect it to the movies its worth a look.

Eve.....hmm its just got no personality imo =/

Last I heard about Matrix Online, it was basically a cyb0r chat system with glossy graphics. Must have improved a lot since launch.

Well that's not really true.

For a start, there's a fantasy game with no elves or dwarves in it called Asheron's Call which has been going for years and years now. Lots and lots of content, though the graphics might put you off if you've been spoiled by modern uberness.

There are a few sci fi games still out there too, I'd have thought SWG would have more subscribers than The Matrix Online.

I'm beginning to wonder if "The love that dare not speak it's name" has decided to find a megaphone and take over this thread, but I can assure you Rapthorn - you are not alone!

Actually, I seem to remember a few years ago someone set up an LGBT supergroup, my memory's a bit sketchy but the name "Rainbow Warriors" springs to mind. Actually - That's given me an idea, but that's a topic for another thread and I'll stop derailing this one - Sorry to the OP!
