Wait until you get fully slotted up with some nice pricey IOs, then you'll barely have need for dark consumption and dark regen will be excelent.
Tbh I have always been a defender of DM/SR scrappers as best scrappers in game to the point I lvld 2 of them to 50 so I could play one on Union and one on Defiant when I played both servers... until my DM/DA hit the magic 41.
No scrapper is as fun as a DM/DA/DM scrapper, no Sir.-
Plus you don't have to worry much about your cossie

Dark regen is such a brilliant power - just seeing all those huge green numbers appear when you use it is brilliant!

Thats one thing that annoys me about my DM/DA scrapper is that you can't see his cossie when fully powered. Although when the Cloak of Darkness isn't running but the others are it kind of looks like the blue on his cossie is glowing.

Katana/Invulnerability is my favourite. Followed by fire melee/SR scrapper.

Nah it was one of my epiphanies, always had TT planned for him, just got annoyed one day at the blue bar...

Has anyone tried the Shields set on Scrappers on test yet?
Have a broad sword/willpower scrapper, lost interest in him though.
Currently playing a fire/super reflexes scrapper that is A LOT of fun.
only lvl 17 but he can take down a equal lvl boss in under 10 seconds with DOs.
Most fun ive had with a melee char actually.
I've come back to my Broadsword/Regen - apart from fitting in nicely in Cimerora, I love the solid "thwock" sound upon unleashing a Headsplitter. It's also a very good toon for early morning/late night gaming when there are few people around, since she can happily chew through Invincible minions, LTs and Bosses without assistance solo or in small groups. Larger groups tend to need a good stock of purples and the occasional wakey...

gotta say MA/regen is a great scrapper decent damage and if you enhance the regen enough your nearly unstoppable

Well for that reason is why I love my BS/WP scrapper (Warscythe) had a major hand from Eros on the build - posted it a while back the defense/dam res is silly, not focused on upping the damage side as im happy with the burst on BS anyhoo...headsplitter/disembowel combo is lovely (get a double crit through two foes and its a religious experience I kid you not 
) plus add in parry for those "cant touch me" moments and its a wonder....the WP side is great for just focusing on the attack side...plus multiple foes just bumps up Rttc to silly lvls, I actually get withdrawal symptoms when not on that toon 
As for memorable moments far too many but one recent one was a full malta mission in PI, the team take out the sapper but then get split by ambushes, im left then in a room with a combined titan,a regular herc, 3 operatives 2 gunslingers and a named boss, was still stood there slapping the leftovers when the team re assembled a few mins later (by no means am I disrespecting the team, it was my sg fellows and all great players but was one of those where you get scrapper lock and realise the team went down a diff corridor ...doh!) just love that toon.

I really enjoy my DA/DM scrapper - sometimes its nice just to go in and hit things and not have to worry about much else!
Also he is an excellent light show - put on Cloak of Darkness then hit Dark Regeneration, Dark Consumption and Soul Drain. You become this dark cloud that glows black, then green, then blue and then white
Plus Dark Regeneration and Dark Consumption make such a brilliant duo panic button
