Loving this thread! Some great arguments on both sides. I'm just going to wade in here with my own preference though, so let me know what you think.

I'm going to repeat what some people have said so far: what does the game mean to you? Is it the challenge of finishing a story arc and accomplishing something, or is it the XPPM you receive?

For me, levelling is the bonus I get from enjoying good story arcs (and there've been some corkers on here since I got back a couple of weeks ago). At level 8 I pumped myself up to Tenacious, just to make things a little more interesting. Now I'm going to head up to rugged at level 16 to see what's going on. The thrill of heading into a mission and having to face off against 2 red lieutenants and a purple boss is the challenge, of 'does my build work?', 'am I hitting the right combos and inspirations?'. There really is nothing more satisfying than wading in to a mob that should throttle me, and end up the victor with about 3 HP left! That's excitement.

Wading into a mob of blues/whites tends to become bloody miserable after a while. As a cl/reg scrapper I can take a fair amount of punishment and give a lot more back. With mobs of blues and whites there is no challenge.

Indeed it has been long! Since then, I've dabbled with WoW - and got flamed quite a bit. I popped my head into Middle Earth, and got rather bored. Rather quickly. I then had a crack at Diablo 2 again - entertaining for a couple of weeks.

I just realised that I missed Paragon City and all of it's citizens.

Now, what's this inventing malarky all about?

Ah yes! I think I just about recall now. I'll be sending Desperation Sane down there a little later on to smash the doors down.

Ha! Cheers Standoff - I've been looking for those. But as yet, I can't even find the base! Any ideas where it is - I think I left it in Peregrin somewhere...!

Who am I? How dare thee! I believe that there was a statue of Doctor Nookie erected somewhere in The Hollows - shortly after his first demise. I believe that this has now been pulled down and is being used a door stop in the Statesman's Talos Island getaway.

At work or someplace else? Paragon City on Union used to be positively buzzing! tonnes of heroes running around Atlas's legs, heroes flying all over Steel Canyon and Skyway City, blasters getting squished in the Hollows! It's like a ghost town!

Hey all! After a 3 year break, the good Doctor Nookie has returned to Union!! All may now go about their business with a feeling of warmth.

It's been a long time, but I decided to load up CoH onto my PC, having dusted the old tome-like box off. And you know what? Apart from the obvious silence, it's bloody good to be back.

A few questions:

1, where the hell is everyone?
2, have people finally abandoned Lt Wilcox and the Hollows to the trolls?
3, When was the last time anyone had a crack at squidy?

Doctor Nookie - claws/regen scrapper first appeared in CoH 4 years ago - and he's still going strong!

I've just rolled a new claws/regen as part of my re-introduction into the world of CoH - Desperation Sane - currently at lvl 8, but going strong and looking to punch through lvl 11 this evening.

I started about a month after Day Zero and am off for a while myself. I can see myself hanging about the forums for the fun of it though...

I've got Mercs and what fun they are. So far I've got 2 soldiers and a spec-ops dude. I'm really having a riot with them and they do loads of damage which is cool.

My biggest problem is my secondary. I chose Trick Arrow for some reason and I can't say I'm too impressed. I think I was looking for a power that is more aggressive than some of the others. But so far I've only selected 'entangling arrow' the others hold no appeal for me at all.

Nothing against them but I've seen a LOT of VG's out there that are over 50% MM's and it just seems to drive the Brutes and Stalkers out as it makes them pretty redundant.

I try to keep the Bloodline as balanced as possible (One of the main reasons I'm especially interested in getting some more Dom's in)

We still have our fair share of MM's!
